At the track 3 gears is better anyways. Guys are running deep into the 8s on three gears. You can upgrade the end clutches for a little extra hold, but the trans shaft will break under more power.

Sorry to hear about the rough day at the track Chris. It's always a battle at these levels. You'll get it goin.

Yeah I dont mind 3 gears at the track but I still want 4th for street driving and highway pulls. I live in Kansas and there are TONS of long straight roads to play on, safely of course ;)

And its great to hear you got the car up and running good again :hellyeah: hope to see GREAT times at the track!!

Pretty shitty night at the track. Nitrous bottle was low, Atco's nitrous pump was broke so I couldn't get it filled. Finally found someone with a spare bottle wiling to sell it (the gas).

Only good pass was a 9.59 @ 138 letting off early...A new pb atleast. Then all hell broke loose on my last license pass. I know I broke at least an axle at top track but I think there's more. Felt like the wheels locked up and the car came to a skidding hault. I'll find out what broke today.

Somehow managed to break my phone too. Great.

I may be your bad luck charm but at least I would have had a spare 10lb bottle with me LOL.

Good luck getting the issues squared away, keep us updated!

Bummer!! Well atleast a PB came out of the night. Did not get the license?

Yeah, that was a good thing. Still have 13psi or so to go so i'm looking forward to that. Broke on my last license pass so I have to go back for 1 more pass and send my paperwork in after that.

Chris Thomas and I were swearing at ya last night...should have left the bottle in my car.

Took a few minutes to look into things....car rolls freely. Rear diff is fine, tcase is fine, center diff is fine, center diff transfer gear is fine. Broken axle and that knocked a hole in the back of the trans. So I'm HOPING a new axle and weld up that hole and should be good to go?? Guess we'll see soon.

Don't mind the bolt in the end of the output shaft... LOL

He still had my bottle when I left his place from the rental just sitting in the Integra! He set you up!!

That axle made one hell of a mess...

Tough luck man! You can't seem to catch a break.... Looks like its time to get some DSS axles and hubs to help keep you from breaking a bunch of stuff :hellyeah:

The stockers typically don't break. There's probably something else going on... :(

He left it at home. Just give me the bottle. :)

The axles shouldn't be breaking like that. Isn't there some gears inside the tranny where the hole is now? Should weld up just fine IMO.

We think the control arm is moving forward from all the power and pulling the axle out of the cup. I don't have the triangular brace in any more that connect the subframe to the chassis so i'm going to have to find out and re-install it to see if it helps out. The axle itself did not break, it seperated at the cup oddly enough.

Forgot to post this video of the 9.680 @ 144 pass in here...

The car is very impressive and the build is inspiring. I think i'm most impressed with the fact that you keep at it when stuff goes wrong! Kudos!

Thanks man..it's tough, but I built it expecting for things to break...perhaps not this often. I take it one trip at a time.

Been playing around with Final Cut Pro with the new footage..still a new noob.

Pulled the center diff assembly today and figured out what caused the wheels to lock up top track. A chunk of aluminum from the hole jammed between the case and the center diff housing basically locking everything up. It must have settled when I stopped since the car could roll afterwards. We're welding the hole up and putting it all back together. Going to take a few days off from the track and head back out later next week.

Keep up the awesome work! 144mph trap is rad! What are your thoughts on the hughes converter?

It was cheap (used) and it is outperforming the Sinister converter infinitely. My 9.59 pass would have been right at 149 had I not let off judging by the 30mph back half gain on the 144 pass. I bet once we get it up to 38 psi like I was on when I had the Sinister converter in, we'll be right around 155 (vs. 138 on the Sinister converter at the same boost level). Just a guess.

Glad to hear you are getting it fixed.

I'm just glad it wasn't anything too big. When the axle let go it felt and sounded REAL bad. LOL

Do u have anything u didn't like about the sinister converter?? What converter would u go with after your experience with a few different ones, have u thought about an IPT converter (even tho they are pretty pricey)

I recently got a sinister 8" core 2 and I'm looking for about the same end goal as you are at now :thumb:... I hope I made the right choice of converter to get me to my goal.

My Sinister converter worked on the 6262 but the 6766 blew right trough it, hence the mph loss. The IPT converter is just a stock restall, like this Hughes. The Hughes seems to be working for me so i'll stick to it for the season. If i'm not happy with the results once we turn the boost up, i'll probably either get a Bradco or build a 2g trans and get a Precision converter for next season.

Took a week off from the car to get a break from the madness. Trans case is all welded up now...just need to throw a new axle in, trans fluid, fresh engine oil, and fill both nitrous bottles.

Also swapping out the shift box for a ratchet shifter so I can ditch the TCU and trans side of the engine harness. Should have that done tomorrow.

So did I make the wrong choice of converter to get me to mid 9's?? Even though It's a a ways away for me still... I was wanting a 6766 like you, but might consider something a little smaller. Really had my heart set on the 6766 or hx40 though.

Also What is good about the precision and bradco converters?? Haven't heard much about them
