I still applaud you for tearing into your trans and learning that sucker, congrats on the parts hoard
It's honestly one of my proudest achievements with the car. I'm definitely not a pro by any means but I'm confident when I get in there.

Thanks! I'm pretty stoked about it

Well dove into driveshaft install last night and somehow.. it fits. Just barely but it does.

The e brake cable bracket needed flipped as it was actually hitting the driveshaft adapter. Now it clears by about a quarter inch.

My resonator originally was only about 1/8" away from the driveshaft but I was able to kind of bend the flex pipe on it away and now it's got over a half inch id bet. I can stick my fingers between them.

So behold, the 3.5 inch DSS driveshaft, and full 3.5" exhaust. If I didn't have a resonator, I would have fit even better.

Started it up on the jack stands, warmed it up and then went through some gears made it to 4th and got it up to about 90mph (sketchy) and didn't feel anything at all. So maybe today if it's nice enough I'll take it out for a short spin and see if it's ACTUALLY fixed or not. And before anyone says anything, yes I shook the absolute shit out of the driveshaft to see if it would hit anywhere and it doesn't. Same with the exhaust. Couldn't get them to touch at all.

Well it's official driveshaft is FIXED! THANK GOD.

Took it out for a spin this morning (literally) LOL
2nd lit up the tires, 3rd grabbed and off we went. No vibration but when I was at the light and started going again after the pull I heard some ticking and under normal driving / holding speed it sounded like it was misfiring a little bit. Gonna pull plugs and valve cover and check lifters sometime soon most likely.

Tried to hold 3rd for a little longer this time but still only managed 7k but felt like forever and I ran out of room ( car in front). Enjoy

Let’s go!! I finally got my HD driveshaft last week, haven’t even opened it yet LOL, my exhaust is only 3” so hopefully no clearance issues, congrats on the fix:hellyeah:
It's definitely a nice piece! For sure check your EBrake cable mount and then I also had to chop off a decent amount of the exhaust heat shield under the car too but otherwise it fit great.

Forgot to mention too when comparing the new assembled shaft vs the old OEM in noticed that the DSS setup was about 1/2- 3/4" shorter than the stocker.. which is definitely weird.

Pictures of difference, and reference pictures.

Guys remember when I said this?

I just pulled the valve cover and found the issue. Rocker failure. Bearings exploded, looks like it killed the lifter too AND ate the cam.

Now that i think about it, that night I went to get some fuel on the nov 19th post I heard the same noise but thought it was just the vbands on the exhaust not butted up fully because when I put them on they felt funny. I guess not.

I swear if it wasn't MY luck, I wouldn't believe it.

Sent message to GSC to see about a single exhaust cam, I've got spare rockers, and then I'll order a new lifter. Plan on pulling the rest of the rockers as well and checking them. Bought the fancy lifter tool to pull them.

I'll also need to pull the pan to see if all the little balls ended up in the pan. I don't see any balls, material, or anything else foreign in the head, at all.

I bought that lifter removal tool and used it as well. It's a bi*** on a few of them, but most of them it's easy peasy.

That's wild though. Go Evo rockers while you're in there fixing/upgrading?
Well let's hope it works out for me LOL

Ill just stick with the stockers. The evo ones are lighter but not quite as strong I'm told? Who knows.

But again, do these things fail often? What do you think caused it?
I haven't heard of them failing all that often. I feel like there could be a number of things that caused it. Like valve float, lifter died (this one IS seized up now. The shoulder is ballooned out), or just general wear..

My engine had developed a little bit of lifter tick before I pulled it, only during warm up. I thought about replacing them but figured the machine shop will bleed/clean them, they’re just the top line revised lifters. I’d imagine if one failed it would blow the lifter, I’d imagine valve float would’ve pissed off more than just one rocker?

For some reason that disturb the proper valve clearance (zero lash) would keep impacting or/and stressing on rocker arm roller and cam lobe. That would cause wear and failure, and that would shorten its life. Like over rev, bad lifters, weak valve springs, low oil pressure at the cylinder head, too harsh or too long rev limiter especially if you often drop rocker arms in exhaust side etc etc.

So I reached out to GSC about getting a single exhaust cam but in the meantime I did a little something..

Ordered up some GSC s3s from Extreme PSI. Figured that I would just upgrade a little bit if they can't / won't replace the single cam.

It sounds like there isn't much of a difference in response or anything from the s2 - s3 but there are some decent gains in flow, reading a post that Mr Lange has posted about last year.
