Okay so whats the go to for DOT bias ply slicks these days? Interesting in getting a drag setup for the car
Im looking at some 15x7 Rota Slip streams but no tires where i want them to be.

Running a 26" tire is questionable after reading comments and what not on for forums (granted, they're all old as hell, im not entirely sure why they say this though)
I either see some DOT from Hoosier that are 26", or other sizes from like M&H, Mickey Thompson that are non DOT and or 28"..

any recommendations?
15"
DOT
25" if possible

Pretty sure from what I’ve read, 24.5 up to 150mph trap then go 26s. But finding a DOT bias ply in a 24.5 seems to be impossible LOL. Probably will have to just swap wheel/tire set ups at the track if you’re set on a bias ply smaller than a 26

If my butt dyno is right I feel like I'll be right on the cusp of 150 trap but maybe I'm wrong. (Wouldn't be the first time)

I might just go with some 26"

Well still been kinda fighting these odd boost control issues. Car hasn't been making the boost it it's supposed to. Not sure if that's just because of the difference in air temp from when I was tuned to now. Yesterday I did a little 2nd gear and and 2-3 and it only made 35lbs. Granted it was 85° out and my IATs were 100°. Not sure if that's the sole reason or what

Saturday I did a boost leak test again with soapy water but this time I sprayed a few more places.
The backside of the compressor housing. Between the housing and backplate, and the wastegate lines AND the plugs for the bottom of the wastegate too while turning on the solenoid in the ECU to send boost pressure to the wastegate
This is what I found:

I guess make sure to check everything that sees air when you do a boost leak test.
I have a new oring on the way for the turbo, and I've already fixed the wastegate ports.

Also trimmed up the timing cover and got the clear cover back on with the MCR valve cover.

Ended up having to buy YET ANOTHER freaking alternator belt for the Fluidampr Crank pulley since it's apparently bigger. I did shave down the little bit of timing cover behind it with an electric sander and a file where that wouldn't reach. No real noticable difference between stock pulley and fluidampr but I didn't expect to.

New gates part number for fluidampr pulley, EvoSpec Water pump under drive, MCR alternator (with the stock MCR pulley) is: k040395

Well boys n girls we made it to the track last night and made 7 passes.

6 hour drive back home and then maybe tomorrow I'll upload some videos of the runs and what not. A little disappointed in the time but I have no actual drag seat time and it was almost 90° AND 85+% humidity all night and I was down on boost likely because of it.

You are a solid launch away from a 9 second pass. No doubt at all! Not in a mean way, but it makes me feel better to see someone else having to learn how to drag race these cars and I've got significantly less than half your power. Lol.

I'd be over the f***ing moon with your 11.7 and your 122 trap from early in the day. One day...

I also adore seeing that full interior. Skreet car sheeit!

Im not sure I am at this boost level but at 45+ psi I think for sure I am.

I definitely gotta learn how to work the clutch and preload with this staging brake LOL there's really a lot to learn both tuning and driving wise.

Street car 4 lyfe 🤘

It was like 2nd nature somehow LOL I was apparently locked in
Nice video!
I remember that disconnecting the wiper motor plug under the hood was the first thing to do when arriving at the track and reconnecting was the last thing to do when leaving the track.

Thanks!
That's a good idea Actually.. I might do that next time I go to a track

This is why you are the king. Damn this is a good tip.

@Anfurnyy, you driving 6 hours to the track makes me feel silly that I'm hesitant to drive the 2.5 hours to my local 1/4 mile track.

To be fair to me though, I don't have a nifty truck and trailer. So it's gonna just be me and the DSM mobbing to the track and (hopefully) back. Lol.

Haven't really touched the Talon since the track.
Been too busy with cleaning up the truck, spend over 20 hours over the last doing a full 2 step paint correction on it and doing other house stuff.

I thinking of making another trip back to the drag strip and see if I can crack off a 9 second pass. This would be the last test n tune of the season, on Sept 13th

Thinking of switching up my launch control strategy from using my clutch switch to a button on the staging brake since my clutch doesn't really even start to engage until close to the top it feels like, I'd like to be able to stage and pick up the slack in the drivetrain while using launch control also.

Been awhile since i even really touched the car but got around to bleeding both the brakes and the clutch again the other day and then worked on wiring in my switch i posted in the last one into the clutch switch so that i can use a button on the Staging brake for launch control so that i can preload the clutch.

I was able to get the wire wired in but i ended up having to wire it into my Antilag button instead because the lower clutch switch, and my button are reverse default state. The lower clutch switch is default CLOSED so its completing the circuit all the time and the button is default OPEN. Obviously this wasnt going to work. I did verify that with a multimeter as well, AND the config in the ECU.
I did have to switch what switch i used on the staging brake too because i must have damaged mine when i soldered new wires on to the contacts on the bottom of the switch because it only worked sometimes. New switch works 100% all the time its pressed. This is 100% the most "DSM" like thing ive done to this car LOL this is hopefully only long term temporary and someday if it works out well ill incorporate a smaller switch of some sort into the handle and itll be a lot cleaner.
PXL_20250911_015020241.jpg

Ill make a video showing what problem this solves for my specific setup since most clutch setups are different and have different engagement/disengagement points.

I did take the car out last night after messing with some launch control stuff, as well as adding a little bit more wastegate duty (sitting right at about 40% wg duty to make 43 lbs in 3rd and 40 in 2nd). FINALLY back up around where it used to be. Another .5 - 1% and we should be back at that 45 -48psi or so. Tried to do some test hits last night to test out the staging brake, clutch slipper and the button and the car wasnt come up on boost. it would basically get to about 4-5k and then bog or something weird. I tried changing some launch ign stuff and launch fueling with no changes. I ended up just completely switching tune files to one that i knew worked and it did so I tried to do a couple launches and all it did was buck stupid hard (duh because 6k clutch drop) and then basically die. I adjusted the clutch slipper and everything and nothing worked.. I tried about 6 different launches, rolling up to a stop, using the staging brake to load up the drivetrain and holding the new launch control button, coming up on boost, letting the clutch out just until it started to grab and then letting everything go. Nothing worked, i went home.
Got home and was checking logs of stuff and found that i forgot to enable my Aux output 6... which is my clutch slipper valve output.. so it was off the whole time. Waste of time, accelerated wear on the clutch. Stupid.

Anyways, Ive officially decided to go to the track on the 19th in hopes of cracking off a 9. If the stars align... we'll see. I have no doubt the CAR is able to do it, its just about the leave and my driving skill.

Well back from the track, 800 mile round trip in 2 days sucked.

The track night was pretty disappointing. I wasn't able to get any sort of a good leave whatsoever with or without the clutch slipper. I think because of 2 things: Racing Nerves got to me, clutch slipper wasn't set to slip enough so it bogged every launch.

My best 60' of the night was a 2.2x and the night ended early (my 5th pass) when one of the U-Joints on the driveshaft decided to let go due to wheel hop. Made for an exciting time.. LOL

Best run of the night was an 11.7 @ 134 with that 2.20 60' while almost running down a blown A10 mustang. In the video you can hear his car getting louder as I was closing in.

I was still able to drive the car onto the trailer thank God and the underside doesnt look TOO beat up but I question the integrity of the front loops for the u-joint after being banged around the ground and what not. I might swap that part out from the spare driveshaft I have.

Anyways here's a neat video I threw together

Sorry I may have missed it but do you have driveshaft loops? Hopefully she’s not too banged up under there, those are very respectable times and we all know that’s atleast a 10 second car with the right 60 foot. I bet it was still fun ripping down the track, kudos to you for making that far of a trip as well:rocks:

No sir. But now I might look into them. The track I went to doesn't require them unless you have slicks. Not that they checked that anyway. They literally just asked "you have a helmet for your head?" And that's it LOL

It definitely should be a 10 second car for sure just got a get some seat time and learn how to launch.
