I figured I'd post a few pictures of my junker and the "aero" work I did on the car. I'm pretty proud of how it came out and it has withstood nearly 200MPH. I found this plastic roll for dirt trackers (I guess) and started out cutting it out and riveting it on the front bumper. My goal was to extend it downwards to keep as much air out from under the car as possible. Well, it seemed to work as the car did 196.9MPH at the Texas Mile a couple weekend ago. Anyway, here's a few pictures of the finished product.

Awesome job on the car, let's see a vid!

Not sure on the power level. Guessing somewhere around 750-ish. It's enough to be maxing out 2150's on e85, if that tells ya anything.

I'm not quite sure how to link the video since it's on the facebook page. But, here's a link to the folder that the video is in.
196.9 pass

The 196.9MPH pass was also the first pass off the trailer. I let my buddy/tuner drive on the second pass and he did 195 flat. Went out for a third pass and I broke 5th gear. I believe it was on it's way to the 200MPH pass I was looking for. On the first pass at the half mile marker I was at 157.X and on the 3rd pass I was at 158.X with missing second and not having 5th gear. 200MPH will have to wait.

Congrats! I actually like the look of that bumper. It's hard to make one functional and pleasing to the eye with the 1gb headlights (IMO), so very nicely executed. Although it does remind me of his face

because of the little smirk-looking opening :p

The aero looks sick! And 196 is super impressive!

That's awesome. I'm also interested in the gear ratio. Your 1st gear must go to like 50 mph LOL and also interested whats stock suspension wise and drivetrain wise. Can't imagine 200mph with a loose tie-rod or ball joint!

Thanks for all the compliments. I've put a ton of work into the car and do all the work myself, minus tuning engine internals, and trans.

As for gear ratios, it has evo3 1st-4th with double synchros on all four gears, 5th is stock. Rolling through the traps at 196.9 we were setting right at 87XXRPMS. The car also has slightly taller tires (245/45-17). The rest of the drivetrain is stock. Ball joints have been replaced with stock units.

I will say, the car with the aero work was stable at near 200 and the only issue I had was when I jumped on the brakes it felt like the rear end walked a a hair, but I got off and eased into the brakes. The car has a chute, but I didn't feel the need to use it. But after, we used it, just to make sure and stay safe.

Thanks Nathan! I'll keep the updates coming. :) I have a lot of ideas to do over the next several months. So keep an eye out.

There isn't currently a belly pan on the car. It's one of the ideas I have for the car. Just have to find something cheap, easy to work with, and good enough to withstand the heat from the exhaust. :)

Also, someone has sent me a video they took while down at the Texas Mile. I think the video is pretty good. They did not. LOL Anyway, here's the video.

Wouldn't you be able to pass the 200mph mark with an Evo III 5th gear? It being taller and all, granted it would be a bit slower, who knows, you could top it at 220mph...show those Lamborghini owners whats what!

I can pass the 200MPH mark with the stock 5th gear. Matter of fact, albeit he has a dog box, Mike Reichen has the stock 5th gear in his worlds fastest evo with 237MPH. Also, with the taller 5th gear, you are likely to fall out of your power band. Which is why I haven't upgraded.

When I went through the traps at 196.9 I was only at 8700RPMS. Just a 100RPMS more or so and it would have been 200MPH.

Ah I see, well keep up the good work man! I'm a fan of yours on FB and I can't wait to see you hit 200 :hellyeah:

Long time ago "A friend" .. in Mexico .. confirmed that the FWD 5th will run through 200mph on a stock size tire before 9k.

At 8700 its turning about 204mph.

And with 1G stock aero it only takes 530-550whp to get there. The car feels a bit unsettled though.

It takes a ton of flat real estate when you just have enough power to overcome drag.

10% Taller 5th in a FWD on the same tire would see 200mph at ~7750rpm

Wow this is how my transmission is being built now. How many pounds of boost are you running?

Mike uses the EVO III gear. The math is not there for him to reach the speed he did with a stock gear.
