2G Velox Aero kit for a 2G GSX. Do I have your attention?

Minor differences on the 2G front end components are going to be the key here. Headlights, front fenders, and front bumper as we all know, vary in the 2G's enough to warrant in my opinion, making this kit as an all or nothing affair. The idea of putting additional load on an unsupported platic front bumper, also does not appeal....

So if whatever is developed, it would need to be a is a proper front end, i.e. fenders, hood, front bumper, bracing (welded or drilled/bolted). If they put in the time and show the results (CFD or windtunnel, or road testing) I'd certainly agree signing on.

I agree that it would need to be proper. The front splitter would need some bracing near the front of the bumper but that can be fabricated fairly easily. For the rear diffuser if the spare tire well needed modified I would be willing to do that, just not cutting the bumper. The under tray is something that I would think could be made by the customer for their particular set up fairly easily.

I think at this point before they put any time into it they want to know that it is going to sell enough to net some profit. So we are going to have to get a list of people that are willing to spend some cash on a good kit.

Well I'm not discussing price technically. Here is a reply that I got after another email to Velox:

"It'd have to be a semi-large group for us to invest that type of time and development resources, but we'll always hear it out!

You can use our current prices as good guidelines as to what we could bring it to market for."

With that being said, Just go to their website and look at the prices that are currently on there for the BRZ. That is roughly the prices we would be looking at. Again, I believe the main two pieces that we would be aiming to have made are a rear diffuser and a front splitter. However if there is interest in more parts from everyone, maybe we could have them build those as well.

Whatever parts are made, almost everyone on a "list" would have to purchase to make it come true. That is why currently im limiting it to a rear diffuser, front splitter set up with canards, and possibly some type of under tray.

Hes also not offering the product. Velox would be. So he can discuss what ever he wants as he is not getting paid, including prices he hears from the vendor. he is just the messenger. To get an idea of pricing check velox website, they said it would be comparable to current product prices, if they made it.

Edit: Hell for 600$ i might even be down for a rear diffiuser, my tire well is already gone, their prices are compairable to that of a carbon hood or hatch, not 5k

Awesome. I will add you to the list. And I agree. Depending on the products included you would probably be in the 1k to 2k range. I assume it would fall somewhere in between for a rear diffuser, front splitter, and canards. Which I am completely okay with.

This post was before he formally announced he was going to use a third party vendor for the parts. It was kinda still in the air. I was just trying to keep a possible good thread clean so we could continue this conversation.

but since he is not the person making the products and just gauging interest to put forward to the company as they wont come here and do that he can speculate and get interest, only once they agree to it and the next stage they would either have to join to list pricing or get them on the list to email the comoany direct from there on

To the OP.

Have you thought about reaching to APR performance in CA? They have built a strut bar for our chassis. (not sure if it is still available) But it shows they have worked on a DSM and have a good understand for the design. Their front splitters are slightly more expensive then the other company. Food for thought.

This is what me and a friend was discussing last night. its going to be tricky for sure to follow all lines from each bumper range, the rears may not be mu h of an issue as diffusers are ment to be within a specific angle range and i think it will be fine for both with adjustable rods or brackets etc, the front could possibly be 1 design and then its upto the owner to seal the gap from version to version, since most front splitter dont always follow the bumpers lines unless its pretty the front can be pretty bog standard lines for the biggest area and seal from there,

All mountings can be to the core support and chassis rails or similer for all as they wont change much, and a little fab here and there wont hurt either

I have thought about APR, however I figured that they probably would only chose to make parts for newer cars. It is possible they might. I just figured if they were going to make a kit for us, they would have done it already as they have been around for a little while. Or they would have done it when they made the strut bar. They might have made that to get a feel for the market.

As to the 2ga 2gb differences. I would probably recommend making it for a 2gb as it is the more popular kit. You are correct that it could fit a 2ga with minimal modification. I think that would be the best route to take.

Some members that have been here a while know that we limit group buys to the Vendor forum, and ask that only Supporting Vendors of the site run those threads. We like to reserve group buy threads as a perk for those companies who show a commitment to the community, as more often than not, that usually means they care about their reputation in our market and they follow through with the group buy execution. Though even that isn't a guarantee (ask me how I know). Nothing against you jakk220, but back when members were organizing them, we would see organizers disappear from time to time and the effort stalled out.

For now, if you want to privately organize a list of names for a group buy, feel free to do so. But let's not use this thread to do it. If this changes I'll reply to the thread and let you know.

Personally, I don't think you're going to get more than 10-15 buyers for something like this, and even then, when it comes time to collect money, half of them will back out. It's nearly impossible to get aero parts made for these cars - we just will never have the volume that vendors will want to get things made because of all the bumper variations.
