Yeah it looks like Tom is trying to reschedule the ecmtuning drag day to next Saturday on the 24. I hope my boss will let me off.
If it was calling for 38* and sunny i would still probably sit it out. Even with a new best E/T your day would be near miserable if you ask me.

No doubt. They finally called our event about 1/2 hour ago. It has been rescheduled for next Friday, the 23rd. Not sure if my friend will be able to get the day off to tow me up. Also, who the hell knows what the weather will be like then. I'm pretty much saying I'm done for the year unless he is able to get the day off, which I don't know how he will do. If I get to run next week it will be just luck.

So, to summarize my year:

Moved from #12 on the all time 14b list down to #4. #3 if you don't include the NOS run by Nate Crisman. I think that's pretty respectable. Ran only twice this year and twice two years ago. Ran 4 times in the last 5 years. I can only imagine if I got more seat time. Most guys run more in one month than I've run in the last 5 years. So, the potential to run quicker is definitely there.

And, without getting into my usual super long story,

BIG thanks to:

Bullett....Mark
Gooberlog...Travis

...for the big help and support this year!

...and to all who supported my efforts here on DSMtuners.com

Even with just two outings, it was a great year, ultimately, cracking the 12.0 nut and starting to run down the line in the 11's.

First time out taking .25 off my best previous ET of 12.0, netting 11.75.

Second time out taking another .16, netting 11.59.

There is more to come, for sure. It's just a matter of when.

Thanks again!

I hope so man.......never has getting to the track been so tough! The atmosphere is pissed off for sure.

I'll be "Bullett" optimistic and say let's hope for the best for next week on both our accounts!:thumb:

Absolutely my thoughts exactly. Two cars ready to run and nowhere to run them.......

Atta boy! I just put the slicks and W/A intercooler on, moments ago (to get ready for tomorrow). Pop up on the site to see how ready everyone is and get this:

CCDSM DRAGDAY IS KANSELLED!!! Bwahahahaha :p

Well, postponed to next friday.

We'll see if I can make it.

I'm glad I could help, Phil! I just wish you could've gone to the track under ideal conditions and see how quick you could really go!

There's always next time!

Yeah...pretty much! I wrote it off days ago honestly, I could feel it that it wasn't going to happen.

I'm not sure I can make it next Friday either. We will see. Too bad. Supposed to be back in the 60's which is normal for this time of year.

Thanks, me too!

Yes, ideal conditions would be nice...for me thats sunny and 65.....I call it wishful thinking after today! Hopefully we'll all get one more go in 2009. If not, 2010 it is.

Yep, there's always next time.........

Good to hear. I want to see some more e/t's out of that thing instead of lap times for now.

Let's hope for the best. Trailer is reserved again. My buddy cannot take next Friday off, BUT, cool as hell, he will let me use his truck! I'm bummed he won't be there, but he's making it possible for me to be there, so I owe him BIG.

Again..............we wait on Mother Nature.:|

That's good news for you man. Sounds like a good friend :thumb:

Get it done! That's great news Phil. Can't wait to see what it can pull off with the new modifications. I was laughing a second ago, I'm only a little over 2 seconds behind you currently. How about you widen that gap a little further for me! 11.43 sounds nice, or faster!

Hell yeah! 11.43 would be perfect! I'm sure before too long, you'll pull to within 1 seond and then the work begins! Let me know if there is anything you need on your quest and I'll do my best to help and or get you some parts you need! I want to see you in the 11's or damn close by the end of next year!:thumb:

So, I was working on the talon yesterday.....I had just rolled it out of the garage without starting it. I got some Cooli-it Thermowrap with the adhesive backing. I took the lower I/C pipe out. I had taken it out last week to put just a slight kink in it to keep it from hitting the wastegate discharge pipe. I wanted to make that a little bit bigger and then wrap it in the Thremowrap. Did that. Wrapped the J-pipe in it as well. Looks cool and if it helps even the smallest bit, it's worth it. Buddy John was at the house shootin' it with me while I worked. When I was done, I fired her up, and pulled into the garage. When I got out of the car, John showed me a small puddle on the ground....looked like coolant. So, I sopped it up with a paper towel, no greeen color, and really didn't smell like coolant. I have mostly water in the car with the Royal Purple water wetter stuff.

So....I rolled the car back out and started to inspect. I found some "water" on the lower cross member right below where the lower radiator hose meets the radiator. I wiped that up. Still didn't smell like coolant. Then we found some white water drip marks at the top of the lower radiator hose and what looked like splash marks on the back of the turbo inlet pipe....weird. Nothing wet though. I grabbed the flat tip and proceeded to get about 1-1.5 turns on the clamp. I'm guessing it was pushing some fluid out, and it was dripping down the hose itself and when it got to the bottom it was just dripping on the crossmember. I looked and there were no spots on the garage floor from when the car sat. I didn't notice any other potential problems.

I started the car, revved it, and NO signs of leakage, anywhere. Let it sit and run, no signs. No leaks. WEIRD.

I looked under the oil filler cap and it looks a tiny bit milky, but, generally because my car sits so long without running, the moisture does build up. Seems the oil smells like fuel alot too. But, it has been like that for years.

I planned to change the oil anyway, I always do before each time at the strip. I'm gonna pull the plugs and may have a friend come by and do a comp check just to fully investigate before I go race on Friday.

My oil catch can had a decent amount of water in it too.....it was smoking a bit from the filter when the car was sitting at idle. So, I've drained that overnight and that's it.

Hopefully we're good to go. Hopefully it was just that hose.

Coolant is right up to level at the cap. Overflow tank level has not changed.

I would imagine we're ok and that I'm being overly cautious.

Whatever the fluid was, water with some oil, or coolant....I know it was more than water because it left a mark on the driveway initially, but it seems that it has dissapated some.

Well, gonna go over everything with the car with a fine tooth comb today. I'll let you know what I find.

:hmm:

Scary stuff! Sounds like you researched it pretty well though. I always forget you can't just take the car for a short drive to see if you can detect anything, I'd almost be tempted to do that after you try compression testing and what not. But if you didn't notice anything after the last track venture it's not like something just randomly blew from sitting in your garage. Just check everything over thoroughly and hopefully you'll be good to go :thumb:

As it stands the forecast is showing partly sunny and 58 degrees. I'll take it.:thumb:
.....and I'm back! I got out of the job I needed to go to on Friday, so I will definitely see you there sir. Maybe I'll finally get a full run in with the turbo :coy:

So far, everthing looks good. Did not get comp test though. My buddy got held at work late......etc.

Went to spin my new oil filter on and I got about 2 turns and it binded up. Pulled it back off and the last thread is mangled on it. Never had a filter do that, so no oil change tonight. Gotta go get a new filter in the morning. Fire it up and do one final check. What I thought were marks in the driveway, were gone this morning. So, it just took a while to dry in the cooler weather.

So far, so :thumb:

AWESOME, I've never seen the turbo go........

Also, did you ever find vids of my runs in July?

Do you know anyone that will be taking video on Friday?

I'd like to have a nice one..........

See you there.:hellyeah:

Phil, Good luck man. Were both running the same night in the same "last attempt for the season" situation. I'm rooting for ya and will looks for the results saturday morn!
