I will keep it short and sweet.

Off the trailer the car went 157. Second run the EGT's did not look well so he rode it out. Made some adjustments, went 159. A few more that did not feel right. THe last run friday we were gonne kick some ass. Got to the line and went to start the car. It did not want to start. Made some horrible noises. Towed it back. Pulled the tranny and tore it down. Nothing there, put it back together. Pulled the oil pan all looked ok. Pulled the thrust bearing main cap, bearing and crank beat up.

Pulled the crank, all mains and rod caps. The thrust was the only one damaged. ####. This is the third time the same thing has happened. Finished up and went to bed. GOt up early saturday and called around to find a set of main bearings. Found some in houston. Nick and I hit the road. A little over a five hour round trip. Started turning wrenches and prepping for the rebuild at 5pm saturday. Got the car all buttoned up at 4am on sunday. Took a nap, woke up at 7:30am. Tried to start the car around 8:30 or 9. Fired right up. A little test drive and noticed the car running wierd. Opened the hood, and it was pissing water out of the overflow at 105* coolant temps. Popped the spark plugs, got to number two and steam shot out.

Swapped the head gasket in about an hour. Fired right up again. Got everything done, up to the line. First two runs sunday afternoon, the car blew off the lower intercooler hose. Third thorugh fifth run, cleaned the turbo, cleaned the coupler, safety wired the pipe and sent him on his way.

First good run.
173.3
Second run.
173.2
Third run.
166.4 blowing the stock replacement headgasket.

He hot lapped the car. He made all three runs in less than 10 minutes. He was the last to make a run at the event this year and last. The last run the run started at 196* and hit 220* at the mile marker. It came back down, but most likely needs replaced. The car simply needs more power to run a great number. We figure with the car torque steering SO SO bad, and him having to peddle it all the way down the track, he was short 10-15mph for the weekend. It was so bad that the two 150mph+ runs he was only at 35% throttle down the whole track. Crackerman here can attest as he saw the datalog. The last three big number runs were only at 70% throttle.

Car is in good shape to run some sick numbers at bonneville later this year and shoot to be the fastest misubishi in the world. 223 is all we need. Easily done at bonneville with the new cooling system. After that, maybe this fall or next year, he is finally going to let me turn the boost up and see if the car has 200mph in it on pavement.
