Stinking weather! When does the track close? You couldn't make it another day eh?

I'm gonna wait and see. This is the fall CCDSM(Connecticut Club DSM)dragday. It's an all day rental. Generally I won't go to a test and tune because of the lack of runs and needing to immediately return to the staging lanes to make sure I get as many passes as I can. Although, my first outing this year was a test and tune and in 6 passes that netted the best of 11.75. So, I will have to take it as it comes. The weather looks sketchy at this point. Snow showers have even been mentioned. The track I go to is northwest of us here in CT, so it's closer to the Great Lakes.....

I like going to track rentals. Normally no more than 80 cars, you run at your leisure and it gives time to analyze, make adjustments, check plugs, etc., and decent cool down.

If it rains out, there may be time for a reschedule, but, that's also tough because my friend took the day off to trailer me up, so, if they reschedule for a week or two weeks out, the chances of him getting the day off with such short notice are slim. Too bad I don't have a bigger truck and trailer of my own. Would be nice considering the Talon is not street legal. Years back I used to just drive up, race, drive home. That still wouldn't work considering I'm on the slicks.

No big deal, I'll just come out swingin next year, and it doesn't give me the chance to say I'm done with drag racing this year, so that will make some of you happy! I WILL be drag racing in 2010!!! I'll just have to work the suspension and brakes on the Galant so I don't go another year without a road course track day. Damn, that sucks.....having to mod another car, I hate that! j/k!

yeah i'm in the same boat, but i'm counting on the weather men to be wrong.

I'm hoping we both escape it....................still only Tuesday....:nono:

SNOW SHOWERS!!! Wow i would $hit the bed if i heard that on the news in MD this early in the year!

So galant suspension and brakes... I take it you picked up the car you were looking at? Too bad you can't really pull the talon and trailer with the galant :aha:

Yeah, all kinds of stupid stuff being mentioned. Who knows at this point!

Yes, the Galant came in from California on an 18 wheeler Sunday afternoon. Cool car. Can't pull the talon! My Colorado can, but I need a lightweight aluminum trailer to be under capacity. It will not pull the talon(as light as it is) with a steel trailer. And, I can't spend $6,000 on trailer that I'm going to use 4 days a year, YET.

Now now, don't be a negative Nelly :nono: Right now mid 40's with mostly sun forecast. See? Its getting better all the time.

Think about it, you could be in my shoes; running with more power and two less tires to push with, LOL.

(man, this year it has been hard to be an optimist). I'll see you there,

I appreciate your optimism and did look last night and the forecast was clear. Today, West Lebanon is slated for Rain/Snow and 41 degrees. At the same time, Rain is called for here. Now, I have left in the rain, and gone to LVD and it was sunny and raced, came back home into the rain. But, 4 times I did the opposite and I think it was within 1 year. Nice here, drove to LVD and hit rain right on Route 20 a couple miles from the track. One time, got there, paid, and was in the pits.....and off in the west the sky was BLACK. 5 minutes later it POURED. Anyway, that year I drove 800 miles(4 round trips) and no racing. If it's this sketchy, I'm probably gonna bail. I don't want to pay $60 to rent a trailer if I'm not going to use it. I'll wait til mid day tomorrow for the final call.:notgood:

Here's a few pics. I will have some more once I clean it up a bit. It's not mint by any means, it's got some dings/dents. But, the key for me with this car is that it's rust free on the undercarriage being a California car. Almost all the Galants I see around here have some undercarriage rust issues. And they were all missing A/C or having some other problems. I was looking for a daily and wanted to have a car that was 100% operational, at least to start with. Everything works mint. Just needs a bit of TLC. It's 841/2000. I'm happy with it!:thumb: I almost gave up on trying to find a Galant that would meet my needs/standards. Then found this one. I really wanted white as well. When I was looking for a talon way back in '96 I wanted the white on white '90-'91, and "settled" for the red one I have because the mileage was really low and the car was pretty nice. So, I kinda get that look with the Galant now.

Wow, that thing looks really nice. Congrats on the find. I know almost everyone on this site would love to have a clean GVR4. So is the wife driving the Subaru? Hands down GVR4's and evo's are the coolest family movers. Ok, ok Subaru's too. Guess we'll be seeing less of you on here and more of you on gvr4.org huh?
I'm kinda hoping that if it does rain maybe an hour away at the track it will be ok. Do you think i should go and rent the trailer and drive up there even if it's raining? I took off work for this and everything. I feel like i have to give it a shot. I don't want to see posts of guys saying , yeah it rained for like 10 minutes and then everyone made clean passes all day.

Nice GVR4! Might not be mint, but it looks pretty darn good.

As for the rain, I really hope it clears up for both of you guys. It'd be nice to see a new bench mark set yet again, and it'll be nice to see someone a few steps ahead of me on this journey and see how they do.

Argh, the agony of defeat :banghead:

But then again, denial is not just a river in Africa, its also they way I live my life :D Here's to hoping for no rain.

BTW, congrats on finally getting her. She does look awfully clean.

Thanks!!! I'm happy so far! I have not even driven it down the street yet. Have to get it registered and all that stuff. Wife is driving the '09 Outback behind the VR4 in the pic, and that's my Colorado in the background. In my opinion, the Subaru's are better all around cars for daily use and inclement weather. But, the EVO with the active diff snow setting with snow tires was absolutely amazing in the winter. Anything AWD with snow tires would be killer.

I'm not sure about being on GVR4.org so much. It's definitely a cool resource for sure and is how I found my VR4, but, I can't stand reading about guys parting the cars out and sending them to the crusher. There are some really nice Vr's out there though. There was just one on ebay, same as mine, 91, white, no roof or CD, with 76,000 original miles, also stated orignal owner, Ohio car, not sure if it sold, I think his opening bid of $5200 was too high for anyone to bite. The car was also bone stock.

You will be gambling Travis, with the renting of the trailer anyway. Like I've said, I have left for the strip in the rain and ended up racing. I actually did miss a dragday in the past when it was raining here at home, everyone went anyway and ended up racing. Your call man......and it's a tough one. I'm 99% sure ours is cancelled. Bummer. But, I'm really not that bent about it. I moved from #12 to #4 on the all-time 14b list this year, not to bad for only two outings. I really need to concentrate on trailer of my own in the semi-near future. That will make life easier for me in the racing world.

Thanks Shane! It should be a fun car!

It would be nice......but, this has been such a terrible year for weather, we were 10 degrees below average today for instance. I've written the dragday off to be honest and am really not thinking about it. Unfortunately, my goal was to hit the strip 4 times, and it was going to be 3, but, now I'm stuck with the two that have past. It blows, and I did a good amount of work to get the car ready for this outing with some new tricks, but, that's it:mad:

Yes, this does really suck, great HP temps too. It would have been pretty cool, and I definitely wanted to run before the year is out, but, short of driving south to Atco, or to the awesome state of Maryland that has FIVE, count em, FIVE dragstrips, I'm done for the year.

We need to have Kev pull the fall dragday back into September. And, I hope the first dragday next year is not out in July.

I'll hope for no rain as well........but, like I said above, I've pretty much written it off. Mother Nature is angry this year. End of Story.:toobad:

Thanks for the props on the VR4! It's not an EVO, but it won't cost me like my EVO's did either!

Forecast this morning for tomorrow's drag day is 38 degrees and rain/snow mix.......and the event hasn't been called yet. Even if the event is a go, I'm really not in for a day outside in 38 degree weather. I think that's it for me this year.

Yeah it looks like Tom is trying to reschedule the ecmtuning drag day to next Saturday on the 24. I hope my boss will let me off.
If it was calling for 38* and sunny i would still probably sit it out. Even with a new best E/T your day would be near miserable if you ask me.
