Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

I have, the problem is that there are like a million different turbos that will put me there, 20g
bullseye power to4 54 trim, 18g sneeky pete, i just dont know what i want, it seems every turbo i read about there are like 6 threads praising them and 5 flaming it

yea i have a quick question also. just tryin not to start another thread. i am about to finish up my 6 bolt swap in my 97 gst... i have wiseco pistons 20 over eagle rods. comemtic head gasket, arp studs, brian crower headinternals and hks 272 cams. i purchased an 18g to put on the car from extreme psi. and i just bouth a 95 gst that has a 50trim on it which turbo would you guys recommened i out on? and if anyone knows the details about flashing my ecu id greatly aprecciate some help with that.

okay so i just bought my first tuner, 98 gst and i got it cheap because it has some problems i can fix everything but the turbos one of the problems, i want to make it pretty quick, i want to keep up with my buddys turbo gsr, i think im going with a 16g not sure big or small or whatever yet i dont know much about turbos but i read in here a 16g should be a decent started...the car is bone stock as of now and i wanted to know what turbo would bolt right on if any, if not what would i have to do and once i get the turbo what are the first things i should get after that to make it a daily driver that can doulbe as a pretty fast street race car

If there's nothing wrong with your stock turbo, you should just focus on some bolt-ons for the time being. Member TSiTuner23 has gone 14.8 @ 100+ with a completely stock 2G TSi FWD (only mods were an exhaust system and K&N FIPK), and there are others with AWD cars who have cut 1-second faster E.T.'s but had slower trap speeds on fairly stock 2G setups.

Otherwise you'll be buying a 16G and be forced to keep it at a low boost level to prevent engine damage, and that will get boring real quick without shelling out more coin for fuel mods and tuning devices.

the turbo on it is supposedly leaking oil..so im not sure how to go about fixing that but the mechanic shop told the lady it would be a grand to fix...i disagree with taking cars to mechanics so im thinking i can get a new turbo or different decent turbo that will make the car pretty quick and i wont have to change much. my friend has an integra and he threw a t3/t4 turbo on it or somethin and its decently quick with only about 5 lbs boost how much boost could i pump out of a stock turbo or what is the next bigger turbo option id like to get around 250hp maybe more is that possible without changing much of the fuel components? sorry lot of questions

Okay guys im coming close to finishing up my car , the last thing i need is a turbo setup and i would like if u guys can help me out a bit... my goal is to get roughly high 400 whp :hellyeah: but i also what it to be my DD so im looking for power at low rps... idk to feel the boost when im close to redlining the car on the street... so i was gonna go with this setup please tell me ## setup if it better and turbo suggestions...

my setup that i planned out
FP race manifold
FP 20g turbo
FP evo iii o2 housing
Forced Performance Turbochargers: FP DSM Race Manifold
Forced Performance Turbochargers: Mitsubishi 20g Turbocharger
Forced Performance Turbochargers: EVO III O2 Housing

please tell me if this setup sounds right ... other mods to support all this
950cc injectors
walbro 255
fully built motor
and all(well most bolt ons)
PLEASE and THANK YOU !

You do know that the turbo has a t3 flange and the manifold is dsm flange. So that would mean you would be needing to run an adapter flange too. Ok nevermind my statement I see what your going to do with changing the turbine housing.

i m plaaning on getting a ecm link v3 and i have a apexi n1 turbo back

yes i understand about the adpater flang but if u guys know any other turbo that will do come to my goal please tell me thats why i created this thread to get suggestions on getting a turbo it doesnt have to be a 20g something biiger will do but i want a fast spool

I wouldn't use the Evo3 o2 housing. It's stock looking yes, but the flange is at an angle and you either need to find a DP that is made for the o2 housing or cut and reweld the flange on which ever down pipe you go with. Personally I would go with at least a Megan Racing o2 housing and possibly depending on the boost setup, go with an externally gated o2 housing instead.

Please also fully fill out your profile with everything you currently have, including motor internals and other bolt-ons.

im planning on boosting around 20-25 lbs i was thinking about the external waste gate im open to ALL suggestions im still searching and doing alot of reseach on turbos but i figured you guys can help me with this...my biggest thing is a turbo after i have a trubo the mani o2 everything else can be decided after that point and my setup i posted was just an idea i had it can be changed 100 %

i also just updated my profile with the info you were looking for

If your going to use the evo 3 o2 housing, RRE sells a down pipe for it that can also have the test pipe as one piece, and what about what cams you are going to use because it helps too.

I was thinking about the 35r but I was reading the power graphs you don't really have too much power at low Rpm range and would it be too big ??

my car is completely stock with 147k miles on the the 7 bolt. i bought the car last year with 141ks no engine problems so far , the t25 sound like a supercharger and i want to replace it and im thinking to upgrade to a 20g with all supporting mods . now i want to ask you guys if is a good idea to run a 20g with 147k miles , my power goals are between 300-350 whp for daily driving.:hmm:

Yeah why not? Build it until it breaks then build it more. If you have the budget go for it now but if your compression is good and all of the hard parts are in spec there's no reason to rebuild it just for the sake of rebuilding it.

That is a lot of turbo for 300 WHP though.

Yeah, like stated above, thats a lot of turbo. Try a 16g for 300 hp. That should satisfy you and the wallet. But i wold make sure all maintenance is good, and dont plan to boost past 20 pounds on stock head bolts. But yeah, run it til it blows. If you run it right with all supporting mods and make sure not to beat the hell out of it everywhere, it should be ok.

IF your looking for a daily driver 350 or so hp go with a 16g small with minor fuel upgrade, no need for 255 or 800cc injectors because youl need a tune.

try a 16g small walbro 190 with ## stock injectors. a 20g turbo would give you massive lag considering its a higher rpm turbo. small 16g is more of a middle wideband of rpm. 20g is more higher rpm.
