Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

have you made a decision of ## turbo? i still think 16g is the best way to go unless ## going to be a hard core drager.

yea im going with the 16g , we just checked how my engine is runing with the computer and everything is runing good , im installin the boost gage LOL i didnt have one and i ll be doing the 3'' turbo back in couple of weeks , and a friend is sellin me a hks front mount for 60bukcs just needs the piping

Everyones pretty much got it above me, i just thought I'd add that I run a 16G with stock internals and about 23psi (DD). Of course with supporting mods. But after a good while my engine couldn't take it. So now I have a fresh 6 bolt=D. So as long as you dont beat the hell out of it, I think you'll be fine.

im looking for a new turbo for my car and im not for sure what one to get.
Its between a big 16g or a t3 60 trim. comp housing is .60 ar and the turbine wheel is 68 trim and the turbine housing is .48ar

My questions are which turbo would make more power top end? at lower boost around 10-14psi and i know the 16g is gonna spool faster. but anyone know how fast a t3 that size would spool?

Last question anyone ever buy anything from blaastperformance? i mean it looks like the sell name brand so should be ok....

O if it helps the turbo is going on a 2.6L 4 cylinder

I have a T04E 50ar and it spools pretty quick but it don't start spooling up till you get above 3000 rpms. But it holds all the way to the rev limiter. Its a T3.

Big 16G. Direct-fit upgrade; no playing games with oil line hardware and o2 housing / manifold flanges.

O if it helps the turbo is going on a 2.6L 4 cylinder
Ummm....are you sure about that?

T3 will definetly make more power on low or high boost but at the sacrifice of spool time.
Not necessarily true- the T3 "Super 60" has a compressor wheel nearly identical in size to the Small 16G. In fact, the compressor cover is not much larger than ours:

HHMmM interesting i thought it had a bigger compressor wheel. Correct me if im wrong but a t3 does have a bigger hot side wheel so its going to spool slower and its still going to flow more air at Xpsi then a 16g will at same psi. Therefor making more power. Or am i completely backward hear?

Yea I'm sure its going on a 2.6L its going on my project starion and it has a 2.6L g54b motor.

Does the dsm 16g bolt to my manifold. I know the t3 would need somethings to work. But I would need a downpipe for with or. I know there is a starion specific 16g. But not gonna get for the $900 price tag. I would like to get the dsm one if it can work without to much work.

I want to plan my build around my turbo and I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I either want to run a 68hta or an Hx35. Let's hear your opinions about which turbo and why? I'm open to other turbos also I just want something that spools low and will toss some decent volume. I know the 68 hta is rated at 47lbs/hr at full boost

I am running the evo 3 16g, ported. I peak at 25 psi at about 2900-3200 and it hold till redline. If you want something beafyer than the evo 3, then go with the hta. My buddy with a 90 AWD would own with that turbo. His would spood a little fast, I'm not sure because I never drove it. and would hold till redline. That thing was quick.

My buddy has a 97 gsx with a evo3 engine in it and with a bone stock motor with a 14b a fmic and link hey made well over 300 at the wheels thanks to Nate at tgp. We went to wyotech where he works and I'm pretty sure Nate did it for like 50 bucks and used for something for the kids to understand what you can do with just a tune. I know the car is going back over there for a tune beacause he just upgraded to the 68hta and a new set of injectors

Well times progressing and so is my project so I am starting to look at turbos for this summer to come and what caught my eye was the FP 20g Turbo. I've been reading around the forums and I keep seeing mixed reviews, people leaning more towards other turbos rather than the 20g. From what I have understood the upside to the 20g is that it can bolt on to the stock DSM o2 housing and exhaust manifold, may be wrong. Does the 20g spool slower or whats the reason that makes it not the number one choice for others when compared to a evo16g? Also from what I have read the 20g can be rebuilt fairly cheap and easily and is still a good performing turbo.

Any and all input is appreciated.

Also Supporting mods are to come all I believe I need to support either of the turbos would be the injectors, fuel pump, and some turbo accesories with DSMLink so don't mind that its going to be on its way. I just plan on what I am going to buy a few months in advance so I can get all the research I need to make sure I pick the right choice.

i have the TD05 20g on my car now had a 16g on 2 of my other cars and i dont see any difference really other than CFM. im about to upgrade to a bigger turbo a pte 50trim. IMO i would just lose the idea of a TD05 series turbo. if you want power go with somthing bigger.

Ok so I have a about stock 98 gst turbo and I was givin a td05 turbo. Not sure if its a good match for my car or if it is what I need to do before I put that in. All I have done is a exhaust system and air filter. Any sugestions on what to do first and what kind of turbo this is and if it will be a big increase or not to much. Thanks

If one wanted to replace a T25 with a new turbo, would the T28 be the one to get? I heard that the T28 is the direct replacement for the T25.:talon:

Well it's turbo upgrade time! My 14b is on its way out with the knicked turbine wheel blades and pretty decent side to side shaft play. So I have decided on buying either a small 16g or evo 3 16g. Mods are all in profile. I am planing on running around 10ish psi for now on stock fuel set up. Mods to come after the turbo upgrade are either an evo 8/9 fuel pump, punishment fmic, and eventually dsmlink/wideband, and bigger injectors once I can tune. My car is front wheel drive but wheel spin isn't a huge issue for me. From what I am reading up on the small 16g is well praised but the evo 3 16g seems to be just as hyped up. I am not looking on doing anything past 350 hp. I will be buying a used turbo to save some money. Can anybody please make up my mind, because all the reading up has me dead even with both turbos.

Id go evo all the way--- no point in getting the lesser of the two... plus it should be able to give you your 350hp plus a little extra with the right mods/tune.
