Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

The draw back for a lot of people are the price of the 68HTA compared to a e316g, even buying used they are a bit more. The OP stated his budget was around the $500 mark.
Agreed. If they were all the same price, I don't know if anyone still would choose anything over that haha. Does anyone know the average full spool rpm of a 68HTA? I know it all depends, but does anyone have a ball park answer?

If the budget is only $500, you don't have dough for more injector or timing solutions. In this case you are looking at a T28 or a 16g, not even an evo 16g. Even then , you need to keep your boost 15 or less and your rpms 6000 or less, otherwise you'll wreck your engine pretty quick. Might be a good idea to change your timing belt too.

*not to steal his post* but I currently have a TD05 20G also and I'm not "having fun" with my set up.

My question is what would be the supporting mods for this? I have 450s, fmic, full megan exhaust, and turbo xs mbc. I also have Greddy emanage not fully installed from the PO, so its not tuned properly. Im pretty sure the first thing is to tune it. But am i missing something in my current set up?
Of course you aren't having fun with your setup. You have no fuel to make any power. I wouldn't even go full throttle on your current setup. On a side note, one way to tell people are full of shit when they talk about their car's power level is to look at their injectors. Often, you'll see an ad on craigslist for a 500hp car but the injectors can only 300hp making it impossible.

When I swapped from a 14b to an evo 3 16g from extreme psi my car felt slower. Of course after some more fuel, boost and tuning, that thing rips. I still enjoy it after 8 years.
SAME! Anywhere from 5-13 psi the car felt slower / just not as fast, at all. I was SO disappointed. Lol.
Hit 18psi and was like damn, oh yeah, major improvement.
Can't wait to get caught up on some bills and get some hours at work so I can afford some more modifications.

E316G is what I have, it is far from maxed out and i feel it is the perfect amount of power for the street. I Bought the turbo (100$) rebuild kit (90$) New turbine (90$) and had it balanced (85$). Still well under 500$. The install stuff ended up costing about 300$ by the time it was all said and done though.

In short, you're going to trade some spool for top end with the 68HTA. On the 68HTA V1, the difference in spool will probably be minimal compared to a E316G. On the 68HTA V2, you're looking at around 500-1,000 RPM difference in spool. The top end you'll gain over the E316G is pretty decent, however.

There's a ton of good data here on the 68HTA. If this thread doesn't answer all of the 68HTA questions, nobody else is going to be able to: http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/fp-68hta-dyno-results.374097/page-13#post-153629760
