Oh theres plenty of hope, its not that hard, seems like people just give up too easily on the smaller turbos. haha, and if that cocky boostin_2_high kid could do it, I'm sure you could.

The small turbos are nice, its like traction control. I went a 12.0 at 122 on my 14b and it had more in it but my intercooler was cracking and the car kept going slower so I could never get the 11 second slip that my driving kept me from getting (it was fresh off the winter build and i was getting used to the car again). Bigger turbos are just a lot of fun in third and 4th gear though. I never ran a big turbo with a healthy motor and cams but went 11.5 at 130 on a 50 trim pushing fluid to the point that I would bring my own water supply to the track and run my overflow empty so it would catch all the water each pass and not dump it on the track.

Basically you should be going 105-110 on a 14b, 110-115 on a 16g, and 120+ on the 20g's and 50 trims or the car isn't dialed in and you shouldn't be upgrading because you haven't learned enough. The ET, well in a FWD I've found that your 330' time is more important than your 60'. You have to 1-2 great and dead hook in second. If you baby shift the 1-2 it costs me up to half a second in my ET. My sixties are never great but I get good momentum for second gear and as long as I nail second third usually won't spin, especially on a smaller MHI based turbo. I've only spun third on slicks on a bad prepped track on the 50 trim. The 14b never had enough balls to do it.

Well this threads been dead for abit, so I'll bring it back :D . Went to the track back in Aug. Was my second time at the track, so still have alot of practice to see what works best to get my 60's down. With my street tires, the best I was able to cut was like a 2.45. Was able to get 7 passes in & my 60's ranged from there to 2.7, which is just killing my ET's. Would have liked to get in more passes but took 3 hours to get there instead of the 1.5 hours that it should of, then they shut the lanes early. I swapped my 7ES plugs for some 8's thinking they'd work better at the track & help with knock so I could up the boost from 21-22 psi that I was running. Well for me, they didn't work at all, I was knocking all over the place on the same & safer tune then the 7's. After wasted 4 runs with them put the 7's back in & was good to go.

First run of the day netted a 14.4 @ 107 mph, just feeling out the traction. Next run missed 4th but still ended with a 14.2 @ 102. Then my times progressivly got better as I took more runs. Ended with a 13.7 at just over 110mph & that was with the best 60ft, that I mentioned of 2.45. I was just starting to get the car dialed in & working on my launch, then we were out of time. Think I'll probably get another day in before this season is over but I'll probably pick up some slicks or drag radials for next season, as running 13's is getting old, when I'm making the power to run much quicker. This was all done on street tune, street trim, pump gas etc. I like to run the way the car is on the street :thumb: .

What do no fwd's run at the track anymore, Im the only one keeping this thread going :D

Well I went for my last day of the season & all I can say is the more power I make, the more I hate fwds  Was running 25 psi with a small M5 meth nozzle & some NOS octane booster. DSMLink had Hp estimated at 355 whp & it seems that is probably 20-30hp less then actual. So the car was making good power, just as always wouldn't hook up like I wanted. Best of the day was a 13.6 @ 112.2 with a poor 2.4 60 ft. Most of the runs ranged from 13.6-13.8 with mph in the 111 to 113 range. Best 60 I cliped of was 2.38 & most ranged 2.4-2.6. Well my goal was to hit a 13.5 on my heavy 18's with less then ideal 40 series rubber but I fell abit short. Already have some 16's for next year & will be ordering some Hoosier Drag radials in the next few weeks. Hopefully should be able to atleast click off some mid 12 second runs & gain a few mph in the process, with the same "street" tune.

quit spending money on adding power and spend that money on traction. Those 60 ft. times make me cringe. Get some stiffer springs, shocks, and some bfg drag radials and you will be running well in the 12's. Im sure you realize this already but I figured you needed someone to
e-slap you in the back of the head and say "do it already":D Your killing me man

Last time out at the track (test and tune) Tuning with new meth kit, balls out rich!

Yokahoma avid v-4 street tires (SUCK) on stock 16's

1st run: 2.4 60ft 14.7 @101
2nd run: 2.5 60ft 13.8 @104

After those times I leaned it out ALOT and added a little more boost.

3rd run: 2.2 60ft 13.5 @111 mph gaining 34mph between the 8th and the quarter
after this run my AFR's were still pegged rich on my wide band and my logs
Spun through top of 1st, Misshifted 2nd and spun, Misshifted 3rd, spun a little more.
This upcoming season I plan to do much much better. Im going to throw some mean slicks on the car and do some minor changes to the suspension and hopefully I'll see a HUGE improvement.

Just to add into this thread - this run was on Oct 20th and still at relatively low boost (35psi).

1.4229
3.8512
5.823 at 124.98mph
8.9928 at 153.18mph

Its got a LOT more in it for next season.

Wow, Thats inpressive! Post a link to your gallery, I wanted to check out some of the work done on your car but couldnt find your gallery.

Guess you missed the last 2 lines of my post, already picked up the 16's & Hoosier drag radials will be on their way soon ;) I'm not sure why but the track that I get better traction at (in 2nd) is the one that I get worse 60's. Best I have pulled is a 2.38 at that track, even though it seems to be much stickier. The other track I've run at I pulled several mid to low 2.3's & a best of 2.29. Not that great but you have to remember I'm running 18's with 40 series tires. I'm sure with a 16 or 17" rim & a street tire I could get that 60 down abit more. My springs (Tokico) probably aren't super stiff but the car doesn't squat all that much & I do have Illumina adjustable shocks, so I think the issue is mainly the tires & lack of sidewall.

mines in the driveway on jack stands with the motor and tranny out. going back in next weekend if the weather and wifes willing ! had to rebuild the stock 7 bolt new crank and acl bearings removed the balance shafts and a few other goodies .... hopin for mid to low 12's on the 14b and 11's on spray ! i would love to see more 2g nitrous setups ........

im still at it, last time out ran 12.8@105, still in the mid 1.9s for 60ft, i couldnt do a good enough burnout to heat up the slicks properly(ebrake not holding too well) (it was spinning pretty bad, had to ease off the gas in 1st gear, get back on it, i know thats really killing my time)

with the tires sticking more, as well as lowering the front a bit, should drop me another 2-3 tenths, without upping the boost, im on roughly 20-21 psi, pump gas, timing set to 17deg advance in the dsmchip.

just got some weld draglites for the rear and tall skinny tires, hoping that will help me a bit as well as lose me some weight, last time i weighed, with slicks up front on drag dr17s, 15x7s(approx 13-15lb rims), stock rear tires, no passenger seat, no spare tire,no jack-tools, removed rear seat bottom and rear seat back, hatch carpet, spare tire cover, i have no front and rear bumper supports, approx 1/4 tank of gas weighed in at 2625 without me in the car.

should be just under 2600 now with the wheels in the rear.

next time out i might run some more boost, try leaning it out some more, and hopefully drop my front a bit, and heat up the tires more ( might have to get some rebuilt rear calipers so the ebrake holds better)

u can see my vid in my profile of my current timeslip, vids kinda crappy but it will do:boring:

I read that part. Im just giving you some s%#t. 18's would be hard to get any descent 60ft's with. Im sure the 16's and hoosiers will be a lot better. Why Hoosiers and not bfg's?

Ya, I know your just messing with me :thumb: My origional plan was to run the BFG's in the 225/45/17 size. Then I found out I may be able to run 16's with my big brake kit so I looked at my options in 16's, since I figure more side wall can only help. Don't want Nitto's & then came across the Hoosier DOT Drag radial. I couldn't find alot of info on them for our cars in fwd but all the info I could dig up on them was very positive. They appear to be more of a track only tire, even compared to the BFG's. They basically don't have any trasd pattern, just 2 tiny groves all around the whole diameter of the tire, the rest of the tread pattern (or lack of) looks like a standard slick. They say its a race compund & are only for track use. They are also nice & light like a slick (18 lbs for 225/50/16). So they appear to basically be as close to a slick as you can get in a drag radial. I thought I would give them a try.

DARREN, What do you launch at? or with? 2step/Rpm?

I've tried from 3250 to 4000 rpms & I seem to be able to pull of the faster times with it set to 4000rpms, so thats what I have been running the last 2 times. I seem to be able to control wheel slip better leaving at abit higher rpm.

Just checked in at the end, brought my FWD out after a 2 year hiatus. Ran the World Cup Finals at Budds Creek. Felt fast as hell the first pass, 12.0@126. Seemed like the car was flyin! Then it was like old times in the seat again. End of the night ran the best pass of a [email protected].
Ah, good times, gooood times =)

I got and auto FWD, I like it more than my other 1g eclipse which is a 5 speed...I got a shift kit and a large cooler to keep it running a little longer.

What exacly does a shift kit do? Did you feel a good difference in performance with the kit and cooler?

I totally forgot about this thread. My last trip out I finally got some slicks on, what a difference they make. Best of the night was a 1.860ft and went 13.1@108. This was on a s16g at 22psi and meth injection.

I got the shift kit from IPT at www.importperformancetransmissions.com, a shift kit allows higher line pressures in the valve body which allows the clutches to have a stronger hold, making it hold more power, and for quicker shifting. I like it alot, I used the "race spring" and when it shifts it pulls me back into the seat. So far, my trans is holding up very well to beatings on a B16g and 660's at 22 psi.

I haven't been to the track in two years, ROFL. Best then was a [email protected] with a 2.2 60' on street tires (Bridgestone Potenza Re750s). I am anxious to see what she will do now.

my best time on the 420a-t is a 2.4 60ft with a 9.0 in the 1/8th. what sucks is that jackson s.c. is the closest 1/4 around here
