Oh theres plenty of hope, its not that hard, seems like people just give up too easily on the smaller turbos. haha, and if that cocky boostin_2_high kid could do it, I'm sure you could.
The small turbos are nice, its like traction control. I went a 12.0 at 122 on my 14b and it had more in it but my intercooler was cracking and the car kept going slower so I could never get the 11 second slip that my driving kept me from getting (it was fresh off the winter build and i was getting used to the car again). Bigger turbos are just a lot of fun in third and 4th gear though. I never ran a big turbo with a healthy motor and cams but went 11.5 at 130 on a 50 trim pushing fluid to the point that I would bring my own water supply to the track and run my overflow empty so it would catch all the water each pass and not dump it on the track.
Basically you should be going 105-110 on a 14b, 110-115 on a 16g, and 120+ on the 20g's and 50 trims or the car isn't dialed in and you shouldn't be upgrading because you haven't learned enough. The ET, well in a FWD I've found that your 330' time is more important than your 60'. You have to 1-2 great and dead hook in second. If you baby shift the 1-2 it costs me up to half a second in my ET. My sixties are never great but I get good momentum for second gear and as long as I nail second third usually won't spin, especially on a smaller MHI based turbo. I've only spun third on slicks on a bad prepped track on the 50 trim. The 14b never had enough balls to do it.
. Went to the track back in Aug. Was my second time at the track, so still have alot of practice to see what works best to get my 60's down. With my street tires, the best I was able to cut was like a 2.45. Was able to get 7 passes in & my 60's ranged from there to 2.7, which is just killing my ET's. Would have liked to get in more passes but took 3 hours to get there instead of the 1.5 hours that it should of, then they shut the lanes early. I swapped my 7ES plugs for some 8's thinking they'd work better at the track & help with knock so I could up the boost from 21-22 psi that I was running. Well for me, they didn't work at all, I was knocking all over the place on the same & safer tune then the 7's. After wasted 4 runs with them put the 7's back in & was good to go.
Was running 25 psi with a small M5 meth nozzle & some NOS octane booster. DSMLink had Hp estimated at 355 whp & it seems that is probably 20-30hp less then actual. So the car was making good power, just as always wouldn't hook up like I wanted. Best of the day was a 13.6 @ 112.2 with a poor 2.4 60 ft. Most of the runs ranged from 13.6-13.8 with mph in the 111 to 113 range. Best 60 I cliped of was 2.38 & most ranged 2.4-2.6. Well my goal was to hit a 13.5 on my heavy 18's with less then ideal 40 series rubber but I fell abit short. Already have some 16's for next year & will be ordering some Hoosier Drag radials in the next few weeks. Hopefully should be able to atleast click off some mid 12 second runs & gain a few mph in the process, with the same "street" tune.
I'm not sure why but the track that I get better traction at (in 2nd) is the one that I get worse 60's. Best I have pulled is a 2.38 at that track, even though it seems to be much stickier. The other track I've run at I pulled several mid to low 2.3's & a best of 2.29. Not that great but you have to remember I'm running 18's with 40 series tires. I'm sure with a 16 or 17" rim & a street tire I could get that 60 down abit more. My springs (Tokico) probably aren't super stiff but the car doesn't squat all that much & I do have Illumina adjustable shocks, so I think the issue is mainly the tires & lack of sidewall.

. Best then was a
