DSMCamaro, I know your mods, how much did it all cost you?

I'm another 14b FWD'er...Ive got a few bolt-ons and I really want to make a trip to the track this summer..

2000#'s without a driver. Shell was free. Motor came out of my friends wrecked fwd daily driver. Almost every part was bought used. I'd say on the high side $3000, and that's pretty high.

Mods: 550's, AFC, MAFT, PWR liquid to air intercooler, fidanza flywheel, act 2600 PP, 4 puck race disc, 24.5" slicks, short exhaust dumping just after the firewall, ebay external gate, ebay o2 housing modified to fit the external gate, some VW radiator, 1 gallon fuel cell.

It's a real beater budget car my friend and I split all the work/parts.

Yeah thats what I was thinkin I should be able to go 10.7 at 135 or so that when I will spray and shoot lower like 10.2 at 140 or so. Like I said there is probably someone out there faster but I would like to see fwd's due good this year, we have 2 good size projects going on where im from both 2g fwd's one with a 42r and the other with either a 3065 or if i sell it..... then a 42r.:p
 
I used to be a strictly roll race guy in my wwd. The problem now is the car won't hook in third with street tires. I can just roll on the throttle in 3rd and when boost hits (4800ish) the car just spins to redline. Definately retarded. I bolted on the 26" et drags and it hooks fine from even a 2nd gear roll. Im reallt tempted to take it to the track now to see what it will do with ~500whp on pump gas. I'm just affraid of snapping axles or blowing up my shep tranny.
I now have the bug to reun in the high tens as well. Hopefully i can do it with a two stage boost controll with 500whp out of the whole and close to 700whp the rest of the track.
 
Just jumped in to the last page, I'll be running my FWD this year, gotta love em.

I just got a new turbo setup, it has an SPF manifold, hks 50mm wastegate, SVO style 2.5 inch o2 housing, Turbo- big T04S cover and GT30r/35r wheels w/an 82.ar hotside. I am also going to be running Electromotive Tec II. I have an Venom intake manifold and I'm scard to run it because A.) I heard they do crack and are only intended to run 25 psi. B.) I have thought of transfering the nitrous over to the fwd car, I dont really want to tap the Direct Port system into that manifold. Would you run a stock ported 1g intake manifold in my case or try the venom? I started this trying to make a 400 whp car and now I'm looking for a 600+ whp car.

It's nice to know that you still have your fwd car.

I would recomend using anything over a Tec II. By far the most difficult EMS I have ever seen, both froma n instalation. and tuning standpoint.

Ahhh, thanks but i've seen it used on countless hondas in this area. I'm not worried about tunning either since I'm confortable with it, and have a "Great" couple of friends that use it on there 10 second hondas. It's actually quite easy to understand, the wiring is a pain in the ass.
 
Mine ran 11.3 at 119mph at about 11.5psi a week and a half ago. Boost control is now fixed and I'm testing it again tomorrow. Still low boost though, probably won't go past 25psi - so I don't expect anything faster than mid-high 9's.

I meant to update this last week, but forgot. At 25psi without a launch it went 10.9 at 138mph. Next pass I turned it to 29psi and had a weak 9psi launch. 9.77 at 143.8mph. If the weather is clear, I'm going to try to get it off the line better this wednesday and probably turn the boost up a little bit too.

I have convinced myself to make it to the track this season as well. I doubt I will launch it very hard, but I'm hoping it will hook in first after a bog and then go wot on my 26" et drags. I'm sure it won't et all that well for the power it makes, but at least it will be fun. Who knows, maybe if everything goes well I'll end up launching it hard :D
 
Been reading this thread for a while, very nice times. I'm very eager to go the track. Haven't been to the track since back in the day when I was stock. Problem is my car is never ready. It's hard to keep up with these cars, go to school and work full time. Oil pan leaks, Bov spring is to soft, tires worn, no time. In other words $$$$$. But I'm going to try to go soon, you guys are making me fakn anxious. I"ll post an update soon. I'm probably going to go to the track this or next week. Just waiting on my plx. To bad I can only run 17psi, bov leaks at 18 :-( No idea what it'll run.

Damn this thread gets me soo motivated.

I'm down right now, putting together a bottom end but while i was down i got a couple parts. (EVO injectors, 255 wally, aeromotive afpr, safc II, datalogger, greddy type r (have the adaptor and i can make it fit), hallman pro, 14b tuned at 18psi)

Last run before the motor went:

1/8 - 9.227
1/8 MPH - 79.98
1000 - 11.849
1/4 - 14.083
1/4 MPH - 97.37

I'm eager to get running again and see what she can do now.

any idea how to figures ones mph change from a tire change, for instance, im running 23.0in diameter slicks, and i trapped 106mph, any way to tell what my mph might be if i was running a 24.5in slick?

i figure somewhere around 2-4mph higher trap with the 24.5in slick instead ( sound about right?)

i really liked the gearing advantage i got from running the smaller slicks , good 1/8mile times, suffers barely in back half
 
This weekend I will be throwing in a pair of GSC 272's along with the 3g lifters, also pulling the trans to put in the SBR 3500. Im still waiting on the Link and slicks. And last but not least my custom SMIM should be just about finished if I find some time to finish the welding. Track times to come soon. By the way guys, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!:talon:
 
Nowhere near what some of the upper guys are running right now, but I plan on doing my damnedest to hit low 12's at least with my car.

I'm going to run my 14b to it's limits before I throw a 50trim or larger on much later down the road.

Hopefully by the DSM meet on May 20th, I'll have my car running at least decent, and might hit low 14's or even creep into the upper UPPER echelons of the 13's.
 
I ran mine again last week. Boost control problems kept me down and I realized I need to get the converter loosened up a little bit. The track was terrible, but with a 1.47 60' it went 9.79 at 140mph on only 24psi. This is still a VERY conservative tune (low 11.3:1 AFR's and 17deg timing up top max on C16). Next time out I swear the boost control will be working right!

^^ Nice Aaron. I wonder if some vendor offers tougher internals for those of us who are really pushing the smaller snails.
