i have NEVER broke any driveline parts with slicks in any car i have raced or owned ( and trust me i have owned and driven many many cars) but i have gone through 3 trannies on my fwd dsm i have now and all trannies have gone out on the street with my NITTO DR's, and to answer why i need slicks at the track, how about BECAUSE I CAN AFFORD THEM AND SPINNING THROUGH 1ST 2ND 3RD AND 4TH GEAR IS REALLY NOT THAT FUN, thats why i always race from a roll on the street. nothing like a little 60 to 150 run with supra's, vette's, viper's, lambo's, gt3 porche, ferrari's, etc etc etc ohh i like the reaction from it.
WHAT MOTOR IS IT, IS IT A 6 BOLT OR A 7 BOLT MOTOR, (ME) IT IS A 8 BOLT. THEY ARE LIKE THAT MUST BE AN UPGRADE, IM LIKE NO IT IS A NEON MOTOR AND MOST OF THEM ARE LIKE WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT SWAP. HAHAHA HEHEHE:thumb:

This tread is really funny, LOL. I had a 1990 gst w/ stock 14b, an afc, boost controller, and a 255 HP lph fuel pump. Car went 13.6 at 106 @ 15psi w/ shity stock 205/55r16 tires and that was with a 2.07 60ft. I brought that car for 700.00 (needed and ecu to run) and sold it for 2300. Reading this tread makes me think I must have been doing soemthing right or you are doing something wrong. I don't think it's an fwd problum that is holding most of you back, I think it's that fact all of you accept that one girl and that one 12.40 guy just can't drive. If your a guy leaving as hard as I was with slicks, something has to be wrong with you. I like AWD becasue i'll run just about anyone heads up on the street. Not that it's matter much because I don't get traction anyway. I am trying to build a SFWD car or maybe a Radial tire car as soon as I find a nice shell in the area.

Well I finally got an FWD shell, i'll be putting together a TD05H 20g setup and will be running it in Nopi's Power Street class for 2007. I was really excited when I started to push the car. My gutted GSX weights a ton compared to this car. I'm hoping for low 11s on Drag Raidals/ D.O.T slicks. Is anyone using a gear based boost controller? If so how much is it, and how is it working for you?

on street tires i trapped mid 120s....
 
Any updates on any fwd's out there. Im going with a new motor setup this year bigger cams ported head o-ringed 30-35psi with spray. hoping for 10's with a 3065 and 26's

This is what I'm talking about, now this is going to make people excited. As I said, I've had AWD and want to try the un choosen path. If really wnat to pull the motor out of the race AWD, and put it into my FWD. It should make close to 600 fwhp with a big shot on it.
 
Well, ill be gettin my new longblock around march/aprill , ported 14b and I might be slappin' on a pair of slicks. Ill let you guys know what happens than :D wish me luck haha

Still sorting mine out. 14b 12.3@106 so far. Best MPH was 110. Just put in a 4 puck disc, the used 2g disc I had gave out after 2nd gear burnouts, and slipped pretty bad in 3rd and 4th. Should be back at the track Feb 3rd. Hoping for 11's on the 14b still...

12.3@106?? you must be hooking really good. I can only pull a 13.1@ 105. 14b power:D
 
damnn my car wouldnt hook up to save its life..i had a 6bolt with upped compression and an fp green and the best i could get was a traction limited 13.7 at 114..my 60ft was an amazing 2.54 and it wouldnt hook tilll more then halfway through 3rd on street tires
 
ahh yes, indeed FWD SUCKS. its certainly no fun going to the drag strip and having your e.t.'s ruined because you cant pull anything lower than a 2.4 sec 60 foot time. well as good fortune would have it, i've got a 2100 ready to go in and the slicks are a comin', there should be some improvements made this year. now here is my question for you more experienced fellas....currently for tuning im using the keydiver stage III and an safcII. Now i have been looking into to dsmlink for quite some time now and cant decide whether my money would be better spent in that department or something along the lines of some 272's or an SMIM. from anyone with past experiences similar to my setup, i would like some opinions on what you would do? I've heard enough of the FWD comments from my peers and other track goers, its time to show everyone what a little hard work and practice can do on a FWD.

Thats great news. Same setup just dusting the car off or are you going to change some things? I'd like to make it down to MIR or one of those tracks down their this year so I'll PM you so you can set me up with the good days to hit up any of your local tracks. Good luck and great to see a good working car back into action.

with lag out the anus theres no smooth way in launching it on 215 street tires. it just bogs or burns 1st gear no matter what..thats what slicks are for

Mods? How much does your car weigh? How much $$ have you put into your car if you dont mind me asking...

DSMCamaro, I know your mods, how much did it all cost you?

I'm another 14b FWD'er...Ive got a few bolt-ons and I really want to make a trip to the track this summer..

Enough. I did all the port work myself so that save quite a bit of money. You can look up the prices for everything else. The big expense (but well worth it) was the shocks and slicks. By the time i bought the KYB AGX's and the slicks with new rims, I had about 1K just in suspension/slicks. BUT, with NO other changes, it brought me from a 14.2 to a 13.1! But it is sad to think that if my car was AWD originally, I would probably have an extra 1K into other areas of my car.:cry:
 
I have alot of mods. Bsically everything from a aem to a fp3065 fully built motor fuel system up to about 800hp. I have never had any luck with the car I would say I have to much money in my car but I love dsm's and will never get out. I work to pay for a dsm...so I might as well try to build a fast one. My honest goals are to be the fastest known on 2g fwd out there I think 10.7 is the record now. with the same turbo but a 2.3 motor. I dont look around at times much, but if you see anything different let me know.:D

I'm gunning for 10.9 @ 140-ish myself. Hopefully I'll get it situated by the Columbus DSM track rental in May.

why would you need all that mph for 10s, a good driver and good tranny could run mid 10s with sub 130mph traps, hell i went 123 with an 11.0 in my 420g-a-y talon and that was with my intercooler coupler blowing apart about a full second before the finish line so that run would have been around 10.7 area still below 130. 140=tens, dont tell me 4g's are different i also have a 700awhp 1st gen as well.
