Yah that trap speed kinda stumped me a little bit too. one reason i came up for it was,it was a hot summer day like 100 degrees that day. also probably the biggest factor was a boost leak that i didnt discover until i got home that night.(couldnt sleep knowing that the car was that slow). my highest trap that night was 98mph and that run was done @ 15psi. i was hesitant to turn it up any higher because of the fact that this was before i had tuned it. well it sounds like this weekend im going out again and ive definatley got a strong tune on it right now. ill let you guys know how i do. im planning on running 20 psi on pump or more on race gas. not sure yet. as far as the third gear thing, i really dont know what i was thinkin, i kinda panicked when the tires broke lose at about 5500 rpms and gave the car a nice little jerk to the side. coincidentaly went into fourth and missed. this time ill def. be gettin the most out of my gears, top of third is usually @ 7000rpm and im usually around 107 ish. i cant wait to see what it runs. wish me luck.

the newest NE Ohio FWD luv

This was an on a whim idea-took us about 3 weeks from start to finish, working on it once or twice a weekend.

ITS COLT TIME!!

Wish us luck.
That's friggin wicked bro!

What a damn sleeper, and the money you guys have in it is just plain rediculous!

I love it, and a big thumbs up to you guys. Good luck!!!! :thumb:

well it looks like we will have to wait until next year to see what my car really has in it. i hate october weather in the midwest. oh well. good news is i will have a lot of time to get this dialed in with the new slicks and what not. i think im going with dsmlink over the winter and will be looking for a dyno tune @ AMS so i should be making some decent power. well good luck to all for next season. :talon:

Well considering I went 12.1 with nearly the exact same setup as yours in my FWD...Id say your hunch is correct..:D Oh and that was on a big16 not the evo.. :p hehe

Wendy

not to mention you even had a better 60' then i did and i am awd :sosad:

has anyone tired running 255/45 Nitto 555R? I was planning on getting 2 EVO8 rims and slapping them on there? I am currently using 245/40 pilot sports gonna go to the track on Nov 18th. Hopefully i can get a decent time with them but plan on getting DR sometime in 2007:dsm:

Great job you guys, like to see the fwd's making a name for ourselves. Last time I was at the track, i ran a weaksauce 15.0, with a 2.1 60', trapping 93mph. I HATE the T25. I can launch well, on 205/50/16's, but the little "turbo" just runs out of steam after 2nd gear. Looking for better numbers next spring, with an EVO III16G, DSMLink, 2-step, an FMIC and some drag radials.

Scott, how are things at the Pike? I bet they're settling down some, huh? Which track(s) do you central CT people visit?

Lebanon Valley Dragway, in NY, 2 hrs away. There's nothing else even remotely close to CT, there's NE dragway like 3 hrs away, or e-town which can get close to 5. The pike, is pretty much dead for the season...too cold...there's a few people out, but nothing like it was in the summertime.

Aren't you forgetting Lime Rock? It's not a drag strip, but still a track with plenty of action.

Well I finally got to the strip for my first time about a month ago. For me they were horrible conditions but I wanted to atleast go once this year. My car was having some knock issues and it was maybe 10 deg above freezing that day, even the awd guys were coming sideways off the line. I had sent my 2 stage profec type S back for repair (again) so I had to run my MBC & to top it all off my tires were getting fairly bald & are 3 years old so I have really noticed how they have started to get hard & even lose much more traction on the street.

Well I went full street trim, didn't remove anything, my boost was only set to about 18 psi to help with the knock issue, I wanted to run race gas but they sold out just before I pulled up. Like I said traction was a major issue anytime in first or second I got on it I would get massive wheel spin & hop (which it never does on the street) & have to get right off the throttle. There defently was a learning curve on the lanches but I had it down to getting constant 2.3 60 foots, I sure with abit better weather, more practice and the new Kumho MX's I can get that a few points lower. Best run of the day was a 13.9 at 106.2 mph. All my traps were 104-106 and mostly low 14's. My second best run was my second last, it was defently my best as far as traction because I feathered it much better & didn't have to get right off it in second. It ended up being a 14.0 but I missed the shift to 4th big time so my trap dropped to 99 mph. I'm pretty sure if I had made that shift it would have been in the mid 13's.

Had alot of fun, my goal was to hit a sub 14 at over 105 mph. With everything getting taken care of & if I still have the same turbo in the spring I'll be looking for mid 13's & 108 mph next time (don't think it should be to hard as was running fairly low boost my first time out & with all the issues I had). Think I will also be swapping the Greddy EBC for the apexi, defently like the gear base boost levels. I might pick up a set of DOT drag radials as well, just need to figure out how hard they are on the tranny & half shafts, Im sure the car has 12's in it with them on.

Oh forgot to mention this was done on an extremely set of 18" wheels & being 40 series I only aired them down to 20psi to prevent damage to the rims.

Hey Daren, on street tires you dont want to let out a whole lot of air. Especially on low profile tires. Not because of damage to the rim but if you let out too much, the tire will sink in, in the middle and you will actually have a smaller contact patch. This is due to the tires having a much firmer sidewall than something such as slicks or even drag radials. The shorter the tire the firmer the sidewall is, so in your situation the sidewall is pretty damn firm and my guess would be that there was definately not enough air in the tire. I had the best traction with my 225/45 17's at around 28 psi. Do a little burnout and look at your black mark and see if it gets light in the middle(not enough air) or light on the outsides(too much air). You want to let out air, 1 psi at a time and check your contact patch until it is dark black all the way across.

here is a couple of vids of my FWD dsm for you guys, not exactly the car you would think it would be but i thought it would be nice to share what some good slicks will do for a car.
the 11.0 vid would have been around a 10.8 or 10.7 pass if the car would have not blown apart one of the intercooler couplers at the top of the track, if you listen closely you can hear me let off about a second before the finish light and coast through.

My First Time At The Track My Fastest Time Was 14.43 @ 103.56 My 60' Was 2.565 On 12psi. Later I Ran A 14.2 @ 106.47 After I Let Some Of The Air Pressure Out Of My Tires. I Was Hoping For A 13 But I Just Couldnt Get The 60' Time Down. I Have A Front Mount Now So Im Hoping That Will Help A Little And I Believe Im A Better Driver Now. I Got A Few More Mods That I Wanna Put On My Car Too. I Got Some Pte 680's And A Walbro 255 But Im Still Waiting To Install It Because I Dont Have Anyway To Tune. Anybody Have Any Info On How I Could Get My 60' Down? What Is A Good Rpm To Launch At?

with street tires you want to launch around 3000-3200 and slip the clutch until yuo feel the tires grab and then you can dump it. Obviously the stickier the tires the higher the rpm launch.

Please Dont Type Like tHiS. Drives me crazy. Invest in some slicks, you'll love them:thumb:

I didn't experiment alot but I found that having my lanch control set at 3250 rpms worked failry well, didn't bog out & didn't create all that much wheel spin if I was careful. missouri_dsm, that makes sense what your saying about the tires with low sidewalls, I'll have to try the burn out test to see what the contact patch looks like. To tell you the truth the lower tires pressure seemed to help my 60 ft times. I don't know if it was all in my head or I was just gettin more use to lanching the car at the track with much less traction compared to the street but at 20 psi I was running consistant 2.3's while my times were higher running more pressure. I started off at 25, then 22 then 20.

awddynamite, looks like your running the stock tranny & half shafts? How do they hold up with the slicks, is breaking things an issue?

My time at the track this year flat out sucked.First time of the year I had old cheap everyday radials with open diff and was running my evo3 setup with meth injection at 22psi.I had severe wheel hop so i would have to let off and feather it until i hit third so i could hook, plus it was breaking up above 5k.(bad spark plug wires)The next time I went out i had just purchased some new toyo T1R tires and on the street they seemed to help.First run sucked ran a 14.9@107 with a 2.6 60ft(severe wheel hop)My next run I exploded my diff and it blew a hole in my trans and took the rest of it with it.

So I have since installed a kar king lsd and did a light build on the trans. Also did some prothane motor mounts.I have since changed my turbo set up so cant wait for next season. Here in utah the track does not reopen until april.:notgood: I will be on slicks next year for sure.Hope to see some low 12s this time.I was dissapointed I did not get some slicks this year to see what my evo3 could put down cause it felt fast on the butt dyno.

Go with the slicks! Not only will they cut your 60's but they help with wheel hop as well. I've had practically zero wheel with my slicks at the track.

im reppin the fwd here too.... this past late summer i ran a 15 flat at 100mph which i don't think is too bad for my first 5spd drag race coming off the line at idle to save my clutch and spinning through first and second my 60 ft was still around 2.6 and i was running about 18-19 psi... stock 14b and 168k with a ported sbr head

I'm so glad this thread is still up. Gotta have love for the FWD. The quickest I've ever gone in my eclipse was 12.8 @112, but that was on my 16g setup. That was also on the stock tranny with the stock open diff. Now I've got a 50 trim setup with 272 cams and a few other goodies. I'm hoping to break into the 11's on the stock tranny, but I don't think it's gonna happen. This was all done on 15' slicks by the way. Slicks are definately the way to go. I cut consistant 1.81 60's at about 12lbs of pressure.
