Where are the FWDs at????

I just tryed them out ...and I love them! besides that, I tryed them at 20 psi and it was way too much so I went to 16psi and I could get an ok launch out of it just playing on the street, I guess I'll try 10-13 and go from their.

do a little burnout then look at the black mark. If it is light in the middle that means you need to add air keep adding air until the middle is solid black like the rest of the mark. I would start at 9 or 10 psi.

Very nice those slicks look good, keep us updated

Another FWD checking in. 90 Laser. 12.5@108 so far after about 12 passes. No tunning at all away from the track.

It's a 14b goodwill rip off car (our shell was free though :p ). It's a shared car between my best friend and I. We swap every other pass, it makes for great smack talk.

He wrecked a fwd talon, so free motor and trans, free shell. Half of the parts we had laying around from old cars we had. I think we have maybe $2000 into it to get it running, but budget is not the purpose of the car. We're just poor. ;)

The car is 2000 pounds sans driver, nothing cut, stock glass etc. 20 pounds of boost on c16. We should be at the track Saturday night trying 25 pounds of boost and lots of leaning out. Hoping for 11's.

94tsiawd's a friend of mine and gave us some good deals on parts, and plenty of advice. Running goodwill's old wheels, slicks, seat, exhaust manifold, 5 point harness, and anything else I could beg for. :beatentodeath:

Pics if anyone is interested. Laser

PLEASE DO NOT run slicks on the street.

OMG

OMG
I live in the country, so you know, straight roads, no houses or pedestrians.....hmm maybe I should try taking some really fast turns with them :notgood:
I think burning out at 100mph would be just as dangerousLOL

BTW, I was suppose to go to the strip 2 days ago but they got rained out so now I need to wait another 2weeks before I get to see what I can run with the slicks.

Edit: 4 weeks :( cant go racing until the 16th now.

I've ran around on the street with slicks a couple of times. Its always fun to get stares from people who don't understand why you have 13" wheels with big meaty tires that stick 3" outside of your fenders.

I didn't say don't go driving on the streets with slicks for driving reasons..it's for safety reasons.

I really doubt anyone would try to take a turn at speed with a set of slicks on at 10psi.

Unless you are running tubes (and even then) you stand a very good chance of getting something in the slick and having a blow out.

Other than destroying you fender, you stand a good chance of losing control too. I've seen it happen two times locally.

I saw this thread and had to chime in. I too am a fwd eclipse who is trying to make some good power and would love to back it up with a nice et or even better trap speed. I started out with just the t25, fp, 2.5" cat-back and boost controller set at 19 lbs and manage to run 13.9 at 100mph at the beginning of my adventures. Then I stepped it up with a 16g, 550s, bigger than stock smic, afc, dp, and full suspension on a set of 18's and only managed a 14.0 at 106mph with a great 2.54 60ft. Hello wheel spin/hop. Then I had that set-up tuned cause when I first hit the dyno with that set-up I only made 263whp/270wtq. But after an hour on the dyno we ended up with 302whp/325wtq on 21psi on pump gas with the upgraded sidemount burning up before we could get even one pass. We even turned the boost up with some c16 and ran at 24psi but only could get 305whp/343wtq. At that time it was obvious that the sidemount wasn't holding up(atleast on the dyno).

Since then I have stepped up to a 20g, fmic, 680s, quiafe, and 2600 clutch already on the car now with a stage 4 head, 272s cams, arp studs, magnus smim, 75mm tb, and kevlar tb kit waiting to go on. Just waiting for the heat to go down around here and also looking for someone local to either help me or I could pay to get the new parts on. I've never gone into the motor yet so I am a little cautious on these next installs.

Anyway, I'm hoping to get some good numbers from this future set-up especially after I get dsmlink v3 if it ever comes out. My goal was to get 400whp but I think that will be a little harder to achieve on pump with my 20g but we will see. You guys think that is a possible whp amount with this set-up once I have everything installed? I personally have already realized that this car will not be a track queen but should make for a great highway beast. What'cha think?

Im trying to make the FWD guys proud. I have a buddy down the street from me with a 93 MR-2 thats pretty decked out. Hes running a fully built head w/272's a greddy T-67 or 25G whatever.... bottom end only has pistons, didnt upgrade the Rods ???????? me and him have been in competition to make a faster ride..... anyways,

My car: Im running an evo 3 bottom end ( 9.0:1 c/r ) , well basically the whole evo 3 motor. I have DSMLink V2, FP3065 w/ tial 44mm w/external dump and FP30 series 2.5" 02housing , full 3" mandrel bent exhaust - cat, FIC 1000 cc/min injectors, aeromotive AFPR, Walbro 255 hp rewired, SBR 3500 clutch with SBR LSD, Ported intake and exhaust mani, stock head w/evo cams ( dont know if it makes a difference ), Minor weight reduction including carbon fiber hood no spare and no a/c in car. I might be running some other mods... list seems to get increasingly large over time.

I havent got her up and running yet but hope to have it 100% soon and then to the track I go. I plan on running slicks, hopefully with the LSD Insert and slicks I can net some good 60' times which seems to be the key factor in good e.t.'s on fwds .. duh...

So hopefully I can make us FWD guys proud.... only time will tell.

Sounds like an awesome set up. Slicks & a lsd will be a must, keep us posted.

Here in Australia the FWD scene is not as big as the US, so I have decided in embarking on another challenge and have turned my evo 2 into a FWD machine. At the moment im just waiting for some 27 spline shafts to be made for it and its off to the strip and burnouts here we come.
It's best in awd mode was a [email protected] on 235/60 /15 BFG drag radials and is making over 700hp @ 4 wheels. So Im not too sure what to expect for an et.BTW the quickest time on radials here for a FWD is an 11.3@130

Yes, finnally I found some people trying to go fast in FWDs. My fwd 92 TSi is presently torn down for a full build up, but it just got delayed till next fall/winter, due to going to UTI in october, and need $$$ for apartment, and tuition. But once I start Ill post it up in here, and let your all know how its goingMy set up is based around a race spec TRE tranny, a custom fully built engine probably assembled by VR here in CT, driveshaft shop level 5 axles, 24.5x8 slicks(track only), and a GT35r turbo set up with HKS EVC 4 or 5 dual boost controller for 2 sets of psi levels 1 for 1st and 2nd, and the other for 3rd and 4th.
Keep the FWDs going fast guys.

You guys are not the only ones rocking the front wheel drives i am doing my best to break the into the 12's this year. See you all at the shootout.

Well I did some cool skids last night and there was heaps of smoke.I only did 2 passes(there were heaps of cars there)
1st pass was a 12.9@128 with 16 psi boost and a heap of no traction untill 4th gear I buttoned off early too
2nd pass on the same boost and hardly any throttle and a 12.06 @134
so its time to look at the suspension set up and Im thinking a low 11 high 10 is definatly a possibility on full power, if I can get it too the ground.

Me and my buddy have 91 gs eclipses with about 415whp and we run 1.7 11.6 all day long on shep transes of course and bfg drag radials with no tred so pretty much slicks

checking in with a 13.1@ 105. still hoping for 12's this season.

Your a wild man in your seemingly "backwards" progression in driveline.
