What Turbo is this? [Merged] Turbo ID Identification

I wish I had a picture but I don't. Anyways, my friend has this turbo that he might sell me since mine is going to the shitter. Took a look at it and it has the 16g style blades. Wrote the number down on the housing, 49178-01010. Got back home, did some research and everything that I've checked says that this is a 14b. Something isn't adding up here though, because it doesn't have the single blades like the 14b, it has the dual blades like a 16g. It's TD05 and has a 6cm housing. Any ideas?

That's possibly just the td05 housing number... and the actual chra is different ala 16g. That was the original attraction of the 16g on a 1g car was that the turbo did not look like anything other than 14b, and for all intents and purposes, was a 14b when "judging by the cover".

The serial # is on the compressor housing not the turbine housing. While the 14b and 16g use the same turbine, they do not use the same compressor or compressor housings. That's what stumps me.

I think I'm going to stay away from this bad boy. The compressor blades seem really small, they aren't even close to the housing, even the 14b blades look bigger than this one.

I don't have the means to measure the at the moment.

i was looking around for a chart to identify a turbo dose anyone have a link or chart that will identify everything from a 14b to a gt35r thnx...

If you check out http://www.vfaq.com they have a comparison chart with a bunch of popular turbos under the... turbos section . That is a very useful site if you have not already checked it out. Also if you search long enough on here you would probably found the info you need.

I don't see any serials in that link but here's a few i found in a recent post
Small, 49178-05200
big, 49178-01420
evo 3, 49178-01470

i no for a fact when i look at my turbo it sais 49178-0 but there are no numbers after that so im not sure if its stock or possibly a 16g but are those big small numbers you gave my are those all 16g's????

they are all 16g pn the last portion is stamped so clean it to see. I think if you just buy a housing it might not be stamped.

49178 is all tdo5h compressor housings. did you look at the compressor fins. Do they go big small and alternate?Thats a 16g

im not sure to tell you the turth its eather they alternate from big to small or there chipped like a mother its really hard to tell from the angle its on

Hi tuners, i recently picked up a holset turbo for dirt cheap, and I know nothing about it. I work with mitsu turbos, not holset. I have a few pics of it and the numbers on the remanufactured tag are as follows: Kit: 3802770RX Assy: 3537132 Serial: 978237. The intake is 4inchs and the compressor outlet is 2.5 inchs. The flange is a divided t4. Any Info on this turbo, like the name it goes by, power range, average price and maybe some specs would be great. thanks

Looks to be a Holset Hx-35 but I not 100% sure.

there should be a little silver and blue tag on the turbo, the one you got the other numbers from, and on that it should have model.

that will tell you wheather it is a hx35, hy35, hx40, etc...

The blue and silver tag is a reman tag. It has the numbers I previously posted but does not have a model number.

your best bet is to ask the guys over on the dodge cummins site, they use those turbos, not many users have T4 turbos here

i dont know, but what i do know i that that thing could make some awesome power, with a t4 turbine inlet and a 4in compressor inlet. it could easily make 500-700 hp and spool pretty darn fast seeing that the turbine isnt that big

which turbo is a TD03H??? I was looking at a GSX and the guy seems to know what he is talking about, which isnt much......but thats besides the point. He said the turbo has been upgraded, and also mentioned that he ran it up to 35lbs at one point. I think hes full of crap. i have searched, googled, and everything. Someone please just help me out. thanks!
