Hey everyone, I'm getting ready to buy gauges for my project and i was wondering what are the most useful and practical ones I should get. I already know i'm going to be getting an electric oil pressure gauge. Other than that, i'm not sure. I want to get at least one more, maybe two. What would you recommend? thanks!

Another thing you can consider is the multi gauges or even a cheaper version on a dash display,

Alot now do multi gauges like innovate and i think aem do now also.
With the dash you buy the sensors and wire them into the dash display and its all there but the initial cost is higher but your not over crowded with gauges.

Many ways to go about this and its budget restricted really and if you got space for them all

Boost, oil pressure and wideband are the three main gauges you should need. Any more gets too busy.

Boost and wideband. I recommend innovate mtlx + if you’re going with link.

MTXL logs perfect in link with one of their default settings from the dropdown so no messing with voltage to get logging to line up

This is some great stuff. Nothing cheap anymore, am I right? wow, but I think my best bet will go to go with Oil, Boost, and a WB. As for the WB company, is it preference when choosing between Innovative and AEM?

I have been happy with PLX WB setups. My last two setups in a DSM have featured PLX ( also features a multi-gauge exapansion feature). They also play nice with ECMLink. AEM has historically not paired well with ECMlink. I can say that I have had good success with AEM outside of this combination. You will also want to consider where you will place the WB. If you decide upstream (o2 housing), you will want want that has narrow band simulation built in, or simulation through ecu (ECMLink).

MY car came w an older aem WB and I had issue where the display on the gauge and what was being logged was slightly off so I went w innovate. Newer aem wb might be different and some people had no issues with aem and link.

That PLX WB setup looks pretty nice. Have you ever tried using their app to view the other gauges?

I'll second this, same setup I'm running at they work great.
Nice thing is the mtx gauges generally offer a 0-5v output for easy logging, as well as standalone logging software. They also feature serial ports so you can daisey-chain them together and log through the proprietary software, if you don't haven link or evoscan etc.

Definitely can't go wrong with Autometer for price and quality. I also like PLX gauges because they proven and the technology in them are pretty nice with the features they have. Can't say much on others because those are the two I use in my talon and possibly might be the same when I start upgrading my evo. I may try AEM though but still not sure. Hope this helps.

    Hi,
As far as I did my homework on the gauges I/you want and need are indeed boost, oil pressure and wideband afr.
Me personally I would probably go for oil temperature too. Suprised it hasn't been mentioned here yet?
When I get my DSM or Evo I will run those also.
Or do they have it from factory? I also know some people who did exhaust temperature and/or battery voltage.
The last 2 aren't really needed in my opinion but some want that info also.

I personally use the Innovate LC2 for the wideband since I have had very good luck with it playing nice with Link also. Boost and Oil Pressure, just get a good brand name.

The nice thing about the innovate mtx series gauges is they're dual function.
Boost/shift light, oil pressure/temp. AFR is only that, but it reads out digital and sweeping LED clockwise around the face.
    Here's my 3:

I used the auto meter ultra lite series. Recommend using led bulbs with them. They tend to brown the housings with regular bulbs.

I'm a big fan of the Innovate MTX series too. Wideband, Oil Pressure/Oil Temp combo, and Boost/Shift Light combo. I'm also kicking around the idea of picking up an EGT gauge. When it comes to sensors that can save your engine, having redundancies beyond just a wideband make the $200 cost seem like nothing compared to replacing burnt up valves or melted pistons if the tune goes lean.
