Hey guys..

I'm debating what I should do..

Im building my engine and I was looking at my totally stock 1g 1990 alternator... And.. Eh..

So I got to thinking, maybe I'll throw a kiggly underdrive pulley on it? Or, should I ditch the whole thing and get a higher amp from motorcityreman and go single wire..

Since, I've heard they crap out easily at and above 9k rpms...

I'm looking to red line at 8500-9k on this build...

So option number 3, comes from the dreaded ebay..

Now, now.. Before you judge. Check it out.

It's not some off brand China ebay scam.. It's made by Howard Enterprises out in Kansas... I know it says the listing has ended but I'm sure I can message them and have one made.

That one specifically is 220amp (way too big for my needs) they also had a 160amp for cheaper, and some others in between and lower, I believe.. All of them already self exited, with single wire hook up..

I think the 160 amp was around 150.

.....so I guess the decision is between kiggly pulley on a stock unit.. Motorcityreman cs130 160 unit with dsm self exciting regulator... And howard enterprises cs130 160amp unit...

Any info on what you guys have Will be helpful..

Lol it's a saturn unit and I don't think the kiggly fits...

Not 100% sure just assuming.

But all that would be alot of unused amperage anyway hah.

The local parts store shows a new option for our 1g's, a 90 amp replacement. I run the galant alternator but it is the same amperage. Just putting that out there.

It's also a Lifetime Warrranty which makes it right for my cars. I have had a Orielly's Galant unit on for over 2 yrs and its doing fine. I finally swapped out to LED bulbs except headlights to help on amp draw too.
