Just trying to figure out what this black box is. It attaches to the back of the interior fuse box, and I believe has to do with the stock anti theft system in the vehicle.

I've removed about half of the wires on the connector coming from the doors. I see that is has a connector on the back of it that connects to the fuse box. My question is what is this box exactly, and can I remove the box without affecting the main interior fuse box.

I may not even keep the interior fuse box since so little is left on the box I need fused, but at this moment I just want to know if I can remove the box that connects to it.

Thanks!

I found into on mitsubishis website that explains a lot of what it controls on newer cars but can't seem to find anything specific to the 2g Dsm. I need to know if it was unplugged what would stop working. It looks like it is just non engine quality of life stuff on the interior.

If I don't find answers I'll start chasing wires.

Thanks again!

I think you will loose your power windows, locks and maybe the dome light.
I'm actually going to go though my interior harness over the winter (a spare one) and eliminating the ETACS is part of what I plan to do.

It looks like all exterior lighting and wipers are safe. But the central locking, interior lights, rear defroster, seat belt chime, headlight chime, key chime, and factory alarm all run through the ETACS.

There may be more, but those are the ones I saw looking through the FSM.

I can say for sure with my experience in rewiring these cars that the exterior lighting and wipers do not tie into the ETACS.

I know there is a way to make all the other features function after removing it but I'm not clear on how.
