I had a VC done the same way and love it. 😍

Mine was powder coated CHROME with red letters. 👍

There was a thread recently about valve cover colors. @IvanovBG care to share what colors you used to get that finish?

@1990TSIAWDTALON , Marty, same question.

Here or that thread (Valve Cover Color) would be great.
Hi,

I just asked the guy that did the powder coating. He said that it's not like regular car paint, and there isn't a specific number that he can give me as a reference.

So it's not really color matched, it's just the best looking silver option that was available, as the colors are limited.

He's feeding you a line of BS. Ask him which brand of powder it is (Prismatic, Axalta, PPG, etc.). They have color codes and names.

Yeah, I thought so. There's no way the colors don't have an identifier. But I don't really know him and we moved to a different topic, so I don't feel like pushing it any further.

Well after months of design and print after print. Dual drink holder for the 2g dsm with switches. Still need some post clean up and wraped

Makes me wish I had a 2G. That looks awesome.

Thanks for being newbie to cad and 3d printing. I have alot time in this little part.

Uses factory retainers, so it snaps in like factory with no modification. And puts the drinks down low and out of the way from shifting.

I couldn't stand the look of the paint on my valve cover, so I had it powder coated and installed it today.
Made sure to be careful with how much I tightened the bolts! The new gasket looks good, but we'll see how good a job I did without a torque wrench.

My VC was coated with this powder IIRC. I don't use caustic cleaner on it, as it may fade it, so just Dawn and water on a rag.

As it spins the little arms extend outward a bit to cover a little wider of an area.

Lot of respect to those of you who deal with rust for a living. Ive got all my Prothane bushings into the knuckles and have all new hardware to replace bolts that were starting to round off, but i tested the control arms and those bolts are also seized to the sleeves. I was originally going to take them off at the mount but after successfully loosening one bolt, the snapped the head off the second when it was about halfway. I was removing them the same way you would an exhaust manifold bolt, but rocking it back and forth between between loosening and tightening and as usually, i start getting comfortable and impatient with how well its loosening, it hits a snag and snaps the head off....I was stuck trying to extract a bolt, which to this day i have never successfully done.. f***ing hate these things. This is the third time that ive snapped one of these off in a perfectly center drilled bolt. I threw the rest of the pack in the garbage.

Spent the last day and a half using a dremel with a carbide burr to eat through the extra hard metal. Ive gotten really good at drilling through and staying center but still havent figured out the extraction part. Widened it out and the sides caved in once I punch through the back of the bolt., saving the threads. Was able to easily thread another bolt in. (Shitty pic)

So im leaving the mounts for now and just removing the control arms. Ive had a pattern that if I have 4 bolts that need to be removed. 3 will be fine and the last one to be removed will always be a problem. Went super slow with lots of penetrating oil. ** Snap ** So currenly using my dremel with a right angle to cut through the bolt on the to other side. Angle grinder cutting wheel would be faster but have concerns that i could accidently cut the mount by slipping or trying to cut too deep.

Im getting there....slowly... was hoping to finish this week before going back to work, but Im well aware that rushing will just create more headaches. Nothing has been hard to the point that i feel like im stuck without solutions but its certainly tedious.

Attended my first meet with the car! Turned a bunch of heads while the cams chopped up and down the parking lot aisles.

Scored this sweet strut bar locally. I have no idea what brand it is but it’s solid!

Honestly, cutting out the cigarette lighter for a 52mm gauge.....a very nice position for a gauge, and you don't punch it or cover it with the shifter (from memory anyway).

Installed an exhaust cut-out. Hangs a lot lower than I hoped. Car's not that low so hopefully it doesn't scrape too much. Might cut the turndown a bit to get 1 more inch of ground clearance. Still need to run the power wire through the grommet for the rear O2 sensor.

Also tack welded a 3" exhaust muffler silencer into the midpipe after the high flow cat, so hopefully it makes for a quiet(er) exhaust with the cutout valve closed.

I think I finally made positive progress today, is what I did.

Deleted the stock PCV valve and replaced it with a 1/8 BSPT to 3/8" hose barb. Ran it to the can like normal. No longer spraying oil out of the filter on the can, no longer spraying oil anywhere. I didn't SEE any oil smoke under WOT and 25lbs of boost, so that's a win. Still gonna upgrade to a VC with -10AN lines on it going to a better can, but positive progress is such a relief.

Also updated the E85 timing tables to something a little more aggressive, and now 'Link estimates 384HP on 25lbs. Not bad for an engine with 150psi of compression and me behind the keyboard tuning it. ROFL

This was at 93* IATs, which was roughly ambient temps. Can't wait to see what 70* IATs/temps and 30-32lbs will do. Fingers crossed for that 400+ number. 🤞

Bypassed my heater core. 4 years with this thing and it started to leak. Got the kit off Amazon
