What did you do to your DSM today?

Replaced the two sockets for the tiny lights for the cigarette lighter and ashtray, and rewired them to both share a power and ground instead of running in sequence like it was originally.

Also upgraded to LED bulbs to replace the little incandescent ones and I’m much happier with the product. Nice and bright.

This is what I’m doing.. the side skirts were almost dragging when I bought it so off they came.. then as I looked at the line from the front wheel to the rear wheel with no skirt, I saw a glimpse of flow. Love the way it curves in from front to back, so that’s the way this DSM is gonna dress. What ya think??

Trans is off. Not sure what failed. The diff was welded by the previous owner and the car is fwd I have a feeling that’s part of it. The input shaft did seem to have some play. TOB was also super loose and clunky on the fork. Found this pressure plate to flywheel bolt in there and a hole near the starter. Dunno what happened. Pressure plate, flywheel and clutch all look to be in ok condition

On another note, Nachi TOBs any good? Found it in my parts bin. Also noticed my spare trans is missing the weighted piece where the cables go if you look closely in the first pic. Thinking that piece isn’t important but let me know if I’m wrong pls

Burnt up my Bosch 4.9LSU AFR o2 sensor, tried to fix a loose timing belt that keeps becoming loose. :sneaky:
Maybe you timing belt tensioner
Bold move.. these cars need sideskirts imo
I like it not bad looking at all

No. Its in spec and brand new. I forgot about the cam I have. Just checked it. I know its a normal thing for the belt to be slacked in between the cam gears. I was just weary about it because I didnt do it right last time and it slipped. But thats my fault. Never hurts to check.

I tried to replace one if the o-rings on the hard lines coming out of the bottom of power steering rack but for the life of me I cannot find the right oring size and still have a minor leak. I changing the power steering resevoir to aftermarket aluminum and also found out the power steering pump hates Lucas ATF fluid 🤣😭

Anyone know the o-ring size on the hard lines or have any suggestions for replacing the o-rings on the hard lines. Id rather not have to replace the power steering rack if I don't have too. Any suggestions on swapping to a manual rack or doing the flying miata method on the rack?

Got a driveshaft loop installed today. The shop owner let me inspect the underside of the car. Pretty clean for a 35 year old car. Now working on the power steering leak from the top bolt of the system.

Car got new speakers today. Kicker 6.5 in the doors and 6x9 in the rear. Removing the rear panels was rather interesting, took a bit longer than I anticipated but got it done and thankfully didn't break the fragile plastic. Very happy with the speakers, but anything's better than the rotted away stock speakers that were in there 😂

You might have slight deflection between gears when done but it shouldn’t be much. All the slack should be on the tensioner side before pulling the pin.

Its never that complex. I have aftermarket cams. A little slack between the cam gears is fine.

Sanding my bumper the car to get painted next year by me, the entire vehicle, i installed temporary my haltech s2 and got it to power up and, im waitign on my bosch dbw throttle, body. Waiting on evospec pedal adapter and the wiring. Working on the digital dash ic7 too.

Got the car to successfully idle without assistance from the gas pedal with the A/C on. Which has been an ongoing struggle for awhile now. Also took a fair amount of timing out of the map, trying to get it under or at 400ft/lbs of torque so the transmission stays happy. Probably gonna give it more up top to compensate and take a bit more out of the mid-range.

Gotta address the voltage issue next. Think it's time for the stock 30 year old crusty wiring going to and from the Alternator to be upgraded.

Got the bumper quick releases installed. @SPIN'N 4 is the MAN!! Also threw on some new headlights and threw in a piece of ABS as a radio block off plate
