I flushed out the water and added antifreeze. Took me like half a day to purge an air pocket that introduced itself in the cooling system. Lots of warm up to tempt, add coolant, let it cool down, add coolant....repeat steps went on. I think it's good now.

Installed a head unit with wireless car play, was using one from another car temporarily. Also picked up a different shift knob to get rid of that giant stock one, Tomei duracon, feels nice and isn't made of metal and won't burn my hand in the summer.

Cursed at it. Then I felt bad and went looking at turbos. Then I decided this crap is getting out of control in terms of cost. So I cursed at it again.

Now I am trying to convince myself that a 68HTA is a great turbo for the price, because I like bring my fiance to McDonald's on Valentine's Day and stuff.
Big spender eh..??

Well, today I thought I would find a place for the front license plate.. ended up using a couple pop rivets.. it ended up making a nice little deflector towards the radiator.. you can still see it, right..??

Oil change and cut/weld oem sliders to lower bucket seat height. Sliders still work great and seat sits just a little lower than stock position.

After de-powering my steering rack and reinstalling, I decided I did not like the feel of the manual steering rack without the power steering assist. Road feel is better and control of the car feels better but I do not like the stiffness of the wheel and the amount of energy it takes to turn the wheel, especially being a manual and trying to shift while turning and such. I ordered a decently in shape complete steering rack off ebay from a 99' gst and will install that when it arrives and go back with power steering. Also have a rebuild kit in case the new/used steering rack needs to be rebuilt, hopefully I can just install and go. Removal and installation of steering rack really isn't that bad in my opinion, took me better part of a day for removal, de-power, and re-installation. Will most likely sell the de-powered steering rack since I will not longer need it or have any use for it. You live and learn right :)

Hopefully picked up a decent spare rotating assembly/shortblock. 2.3 6 bolt with a 2G head.

Nice

It has a 7-bolt timing belt tensioner, front case, and oil pan?

And a 4g63 stamp? Looks like you got a 2.0 7 bolt.

Agreed. And it looks to be a 1G block. So 1G 7-bolt with a 2G head.
It freaked me out a little but I think it’s a really well done 6 bolt 2G swap to use with the factory mounts. I could be wrong. All my good tools are at work so I can’t see the serial number on the rods but I believe the pistons are 607005 Manley. He said the rods are Manley also. Crank is a 6 bolt 100mm.

Small little thing but so cool, I finally got a battery for the greddy profec II Spec B boost controller remote AND IT WORKS. I can now switch between HI and LO setting from the steering wheel. It's kinda gimmicky but it came with the car and is the old school cool I love. Now to dial in the LO setting better and then work on the HI.

LO is on 10 psi so maybe HI will be 15 psi? I dunno cause I am over bore by a whole mil (not by choice)

I finally pulled the motor out to assess the blown head gasket from last year. I had lots of coolant come out with the oil. Luckily everything in the bottom end looked reusable. The head on the other hand… I’ll need to find a new one

Got the new (DCP) shifter bushings installed, including a custom 3D printed (PETG) bushing for the B&M shifter (DCP's brass bushing does NOT work for the short shifter). Still need to install the DCP bushings under the hood, but those seem to be solid for the most part as-is.

Took the car out for a ~10 mile drive, did a pull in 2nd and 3rd gear; WOW, felt like a rocket with the S366. Did a second 3rd gear pull....and blew a coupler off the end of the turbo compressor housing.

I checked the log.... I hit 45psi on the OMNI MAP sensor ( oh shit ). The AFRs were definitely leaning out to 13/14.0 past 40 psi. I'll have to upload a log. This could've been catastrophic. After that, I turned the boost controller down all the way and did maybe 2 clockwise revolutions. I'll be re-mounting the coupler and testing what pressure the wastegate opens at after everything's all fixed. Hopefully, my 6AN PTFE lines, HP 450 pump, and 2200cc injectors will be enough (I don't want to have to install an inline pump....but pressure consistency is so difficult to achieve with these in-tank Walbro pumps, ugg.

Here's the prototypes/test prints. I'll have to pull the cupholder to get a pic tonight of the installed piece.
