FYI if it matters, Murano is an island in Venice, Italy where handmade glassware is made. I'm sure Curt know that.

Ooooh, did not know that. NGL the glassware does look pretty awesome. Still that fine dining chef life part of me that was all into little nuances and tricks like that. Small little details to get housewives talking made $$$$$. "Oh this restaurant had such cute glasses.." or "their napkins were folded like frogs and birds and stuff!" worked wonders.

Yep, basically a subdivision of Venice, along with many others but Murano is one of the most well known.
The history behind Murano's glass making is pretty crazy. I know more about Murano than I should (which still isn't a lot but it's nonzero) because of my wife's interest in pretty glass.

Granted, I've watched the blown glass competition tv shows and whatnot, it's definitely skill. I can, on a good day, glue two pieces of glass together.

Without glueing your fingers together? I’m impressed. I’m not allowed anywhere near glue.

For several reasons but that’s none of your god damned business.

But - that is genuinely interesting to me. I legitimately have no clue why. But it is.

I never had a second language in school/college, it wasn't required, but even my kids no "Uno Cervesa Porfavor" or if the wife and I both were dry as a bone it was "Dos Cervesa Porfavor" (spelling???) ROFL
Ok, continue on. :thumb:

Finally did some DSM work. Forgot to/didn't want to take pictures so no point updating the build thread.

But, pulled the sending unit out for what feels like the 60th time. Popped in the new(to me) fuel level sender assembly(which after looking at it, JEEBUS my old one was SCREWED), popped on the brand spanking new fuel sending unit gasket(which went on so ridiculously easy and incredibly, man new gaskets are amazing). After that, changed out the OEM o2 sensor, which always sucks. This "custom" LICP setup is garbage and in the way of everything, and I had to remove the A/C cooling fan to actually end up removing the o2 sensor, but it came out eventually.

The old o2 sensor actually wasn't as fouled as I thought it would be, but it only had like one hole in the element where as the new Denso one has holes all in it and the beginning/starting of the threads are beveled on the Denso sensor, as opposed to flat/fat thread on the NTK unit. I like the Denso's threads way better. Pretty sure at this point my alternator belt needs to be tightened because the belt squeaks on startup a bit, and there's a weird occasional idle issue where it'll die out. When I restart it, belt will squeak. I'll address that later though, gonna take my victory for today. Tomorrow have to take a trip to gainesville.

So nice to have a working fuel level gauge again.

Got almost all the parts for the battery relocation put on order! So excited because even though the car is ripped apart I know this is the turning point for getting it back together! Good things ahead
I plan to do that this winter and ive never seen pics or a real true write up from what ive found. So just curious how are you doing your?

I didn't really either so I just took notes on what everyone else did and pulled from what made sense for me. I'll do my standard pictorial/walk through style in my build thread once I get it underway. It probably won't be "the right way" but I'm hoping it will be close. Best I got right now is a few printer paper hand drawn diagrams with the notes I took haha

Got a much longer post in my build thread with a cool story, but I did this.

Custom shift knob I've had for 10 years, installed and looking great if I say so myself. Also tightened the alternator belt and squeak went away. After that I found the (previously) missing reverse light switch's plug near the back of the engine, and fixed my no reverse light situation too. Including today and yesterday, I am so stoked with all the fixes and improvements. Nothing major, but the small stuff means the most to me.

What's the reason for it not being driven?

I'm prepping the body for either a paint or a wrap job. I've been stripping off the old "$200 special" paint job/spray paint, right down to the metal. Panel by panel.

I'll remove the spoiler, lights, and rear bumper cover when I get to that section. Since I'm replacing the 1995-96 bumper cover with a 1997-99, it won't be going back on. The front bumper cover has already been swapped.

I'm still debating on the color scheme for both the wrap or the paint job. See photo for the current color. Any input or advice, and prep work/techniques are always appreciated.

Do you have an idea of accent colors, wheel color, and will the interior stay black? Do you want to stick to factory colors?

The interior will be gray. Wheel color will stay black. I was thinking that the factory "ground effects" will be black. The main color is what I'm open to suggestions. I was thinking about one solid center stripe from the rear bumper all the way to the front. I'm open to suggestions about that too.

Oh nice! Haha I was just curious although I do really like the "nardo gray" or darker gray colors on these cars...though that may be too monochrome with the interior being gray. Although it does give you a wide variety of accent colors like a nice yellow or green that you can't typically do. Red as an accent is always an option too but just very common (as I have red as an accent color though not by choice hahah)

Finished hooking up radiator hoses, and filled it up with coolant. Front leak fixed.

Too bad I have a leak somewhere on the back. It's running down the back of the subframe by the firewall, but I don't see any coolant leaks by heater core, or intake. I'm going to assume one of my freeze plugs and because the whole front end is lifted up, it's magically running all the way to the firewall before dripping off.

And of course Murphy's law is in full effect..... while trying to see the leak I decided to remove the passenger side suspension reinforcement plate (near the drip) One of the captive nuts is no longer attached to the subframe, so the bolt head will need to be drilled out. :banghead:

yeah but better finding that out now..
like yesterday, i dropped off my daily's winters to get new valve stems because 3/4 are cracked in half (but still holding air) and in my effort to show him their condition, it broke in half right there and puked out all the air.
so timing is everything.. count yours as positive:)

Photos or videos of the leak? It could help you narrow down the source of the leak if you had other people look at it with a set of "fresh eyes." I'm thinking one of the 2 water outlet coolant hoses, that run to the heater core/firewall. Check both sides of the hoses, then the length of the hoses for cracks. If they've never been replaced, or if it's been awhile since they were last replaced, I recommend replacement.

Pulled the engine last night when I got home from work. Then this morning took the timing cover off to find the balance shaft belt snapped and smacked the crank sensor. So got my parts ordered and now I wait.

Well we got a bunch of rain the past couple days. Something weird happened. My hood has peeling clear coat, I'm guessing it rained so hard water ended up getting under the clear coat and made it soft i guess. It was like blisters, I could squeegee water from the bubbles. Weird af. Water logged clear coat? Anyway, have a bunch of dents from hail damage so Dent repairs and paint prep start this weekend!!! It's gonna be a timely process because I've never done it but you gotta start somewhere right? I've always loved a fresh drippy paint job so I'm gonna learn how to do it to the best of my poor person abilities 🤣🤣🤣 best youtube paint channel anyone? Paint society? Also got some cheapo outside door handles in today and still waiting on keyless entry receiver to arrive.
