What did you do to your DSM today?

Is there any way to replace all the fender hardware for the body of the car inside the engine bay (6blots)
Simple answer is yes, but please redirect your question to the appropriate forum (if you're probationary, you may be limited to the probie page).

Stainless brake lines going on today! The old lines have broken down to the point of failure.

Set the base timing with a timing light. First time I've ever done that. It's small potatoes I know, but man...I love doing stuff the right way on a DSM. It was set at like 10* or a little more so it definitely needed to be set. Mechanical timing was already checked a few days ago when I had the lower timing cover off, so feels really good man to know that it's all correct.

Next up is another more in-depth boost leak test.

If your base ignition timing was off by 5 degrees, fixing that is gonna change a whole lot (for the better) across your entire range.
In fact, I'm curious what that may end up doing to your fuel readings (MAF compensation) as well.

I admit I'm curious as well! I'm gonna wait until Stapl3 gives some input on the log I posted in my build thread before I try to drive it. If he says zero everything out and start over I will. Still though, it idles so much better on his suggested settings especially with the timing set properly.

Forked out 200 bucks for what appeared to be super clean fog lights off a 1991 GSX.

Showed up with a broken bolt and 3 stripped screws. After drilling th screw head off and being very gentle with the screws clamped in the vise working it slowly back and forth out of the bracket... I have 0 casualties. Brackets need cleaned up and coated.

Might run them to the powder coater by my place instead of a failed job out of a rattle can.

I ran my M5x.8 Tap through the brackets then chased them and all is well. I am super surprised how well the ICON 41 piece Metric Tap and Die set has held up... 150 bucks and she has already paid for herself.

For anyone wonder the stupid fog light screws are M5x.80 x 50mm long.

Now to find a Fog light button where they threw in a blank and a new relay that they removed...

It's the same relay as your "tail" relay below it. So if you find a DSM in the junkyard just yank one, or find a partout and have someone toss you one.

Performance Partout still has good foglight switches I think. I have a spare one as well, but I don't know if it works and don't wanna give you a bad one!

I FINALLY got to take the Spyder out for a drive today, the brake lines solved the last of my issues. From the start of the motor teardown to a running car it took me about five months time. I'm really happy with the experience so far and looking forward to starting another motor build for it.

I wish I could find a DSM in a junkyard in Utah, they have all been crushed. I checked Partout and he didn't have any fog buttons. I need to hit him back up for my A/C lines. He told me to hit him up after September 10th and I have lost track of time 🤣

I can pay Mitsubishi 35 for a new Relay if I really want to.

If you want to roll the dice, throw me your address and I'll ship my spare button out to you. I'll throw it in a small box and reinforce the shit out of it so you can stomp on it and the button won't be damaged.

I bought a couple 2G key blanks just for that and, for some reason, decided it wouldn’t work. I’ll look at it again this evening and report back.

Continued work on the Talon to get it out the door and found my standard BS bearings are not working for one of the holes. It seems the hole is wallowed out and neither the 44mm or 45mm bearings are big enough. Anyone know of a 46mm bearing to fit it?

I drove mine to work and back, 30 miles each way. A 1500 foot elevation climb across 5 miles each way through a canyon pass. Coolant got a bit toasty on the way home at 216F.

Back home safe with all 4 wheels 🤣

Decided after a surprise text, to take an hour-ish trip to the beach and meet up with Mr. @v8s_are_slow himself.

Yes he owns a V8 now, and yes he thinks its funny too. But, the Talon did PHENOMENALLY. At highway speeds this thing rides smooth AF. These tires are incredible, and the coilovers make it feel so stable at any speed. The exhaust has no drone to it at all, and...man. Love this car.

Yes my Talon looks like a monster truck next to his gorgeous vette, and no..I'm not changing that. It rides perfect at this height with zero fear of potholes and speed bumps. :p

He also took me for a ride in the Vette. I see why people like those cars man. The torque and ride is so nice. Feeling the rear get squirrelly when he went WOT at like 5mph was smile inducing. Great day this one.

No, you can't just put a larger OD bearing. It has to be repaired and line-bored by a machine shop or just eliminate the balance shafts.
RH Front 45mm
RH Rear 44mm
LH 44mm

Nice. I have had 4 vettes... The 03 z06 was horrible timing. I found out my 2nd kid was on the way a month after I bought it. Then went to a 05 base and wasn't enough for me.

Got a Jet Stream Blue 08 z06 did Katech Heads/Cam and didn't want to drive it cause it was super clean and 123 at the top of 3rd was going to get me in trouble 😵‍💫 sold it and got a 09 Cyber Grey Metallic Z06 from the original owner 71k miles and sold it as I lost interest.

Got my 91 GSX in June after selling my 96 GSX in 2012 and couldn't be happier.

Vettes are fun and get great gas mileage 29mpg on the freeway in my 500+ whp 08 z06

After all these toys I have decided this 91 GSX brings me the most enjoyment... Just my opinion.

Does anyone know if a key blank for a 2G will work with a 1G? Looking at pics online it looks like they are the same where it counts?
yes it will work. All dsms and 3000gts use the same key blade.
