I do this too! Especially on the 350z with angle kit. Ill even draw a line where they should be from bolt to flange so i can see if they backed out.

Today I got my new motor ready for the next step of break in oil with 20/50. Seems to be running leaner with a bit higher compression but Ill tune that out after the oil flush.

Got the fuel pump/fuel filter set up mounted on Sunday. Didn't do muvh else then.

Started putzing with it again this evening. Once I started looking at it closer I realized my original mock up idea wasn't going to work properly. When I originally came up with how I wanted the lines to run nothing was actually welded in its location and I was only going off guesses.

Anyway, I was only able to make the one line. I had to order two PTFE 90s to make the other.

Just gonna wait til it comes in and the line is made to proceed.

I charged the battery on the Blue 92 auto car and drove her a couple of blocks down the road and back before I drained the E85 out of her. She sputtered and didn't like driving and as I pulled back into my drive, I looked at the gas gauge and it was buried on E so I guess I don't have to "drain" it, it is EMPTY. I do need to put some gas in her now though. It was fun, since I hadn't driven her in quite a few months. No time to pull the trans and have it repaired, but it will have its day, just wasn't meant to be this year.

I always have to come to this conclusion on so many projects I had planned around this time of year. I'm sure the feeling is mutual around the entire car community.

I finally started working on a bracket for the volvo pump. I'm torn about having it in the engine bay since i'm a big fan of clean engine bays with minimal things being there. I could move it to the trunk but the extra hose going to the front ehhh... I'll mock of both locations over the weekend and make up my mind.

I'll probably be looking into electric power steering myself. Might try to make something from a Cobalt or something work for me.

It's nice having power steering. In my 20s and even early 30s i didn't mind having depowered racks and manual racks but i'm past that point LOL.

Finally found a location i like. I ended up calling it a night after making this bracket because i'm already hearing the your still at the shop texts LOL. Maybe i'll finish this tomorrow if not during the week but i got the hardest part done. It's fully bolted in and in the car. Just didn't feel like taking my phone out again.

Got the clutch and brake pedal installed and trans dropped. Might have rounded a flex plate bolt with my air gun 😬 gonna heat them with with a propane torch unless anyone has other suggestions 🤞

I thought about the alternator. I'll see how much of a struggle it is with my 90 amp. I'm deciding between the 160 and 200 amp alt.
With a 90amp, it would probably be ok while driving the car if you wouldn't keep the steering fully turned for long. The point is this pump would draw 85A only while it's building the max pressure, the moment the steering is fully turned. I have been running it with a 130A alternator and I have no issues, buy my 1g doesn't have the A/C and audio system anymore.

Well after wiring it up and running the lines I got to test drive it and it seems fine while driving but it was raining tonight so I had the wipers on as well as the defroster and it was slightly idling low from the draw. I think I'll be fine, but I will start looking into some aftermarket alternators. The MCR 160 looks like it might fit the bill since I do want to add a sub to the car to get a more enjoyable daily driver experience.

Yeah agree. I guess in your case at least 150amp. A 160 would be better. Just my experience here, since you would mount the pump out side, you may have better cooling for the pump than my case (inside mount), but anyways I can feel a little bit less power steering assistant when the pump gets hotter. Adding a small fluid cooler made it better. So I imagine if you would have a good cooler, it would make city driving more comfortable.

Put the fuel cell back in to make sure of clearance. Realized I was in fact going to have a clearance issue with my Y. Removed the Y and check valves for now.

Going to likely do regular adapters and a check valve further up inline. A tubular mustache bar is absolutely going to be needed.

Went ahead and built the other 10an line though.
