I did boost leak tests and fixes today. Fixed 6 or so. AFPR adjustment screw leak, BOV adjustment screw leak, hose barb on my turbo for WG solenoid was leaking. Boost/vac gauge fitting as well. I was getting lots of bubbles from the throttle body studs and bolts so I put thread sealant on them and that fixed that. SMIM so they went into the plenum. I am going to be running speed density so I have read that boost leaks aren’t as critical but I want a stable/controllable idle. So it was a good day in my books.

Found a huge boost leak at the EGR delete plate with my newly homemade boost leak checker.

Installed a fresh ECMLink V3 ECU just to make sure I didn't have issues with the one in the car. All was good ,well, the same. Still no extra fuel up under boost. I am considering a MagnaFuel fuel pump if it will suction fuel up the feed tube if I mount it on the rear frame rail or mustache bar.

Replaced the eBay/vatozone special cooling fan that someone put on when the main cooling fan died with one that @vanilla gorilla sold me for a great price.

Much better now! Just look at the size difference. This plus the aluminum radiator that’ll go on eventually should keep those temps nice and low even in hot ol’ Florida.

I bought a Fuel Tank Cleaning Kit to get the E85 "goo" out of my gas tank that I was running E in. It got stale and had me scratching my head all of last year as to why she wouldn't fuel up. With a little help from my son, we finally figured out the issue just this last Sunday (the tank has a "fish slime" feel in it, gumming up the pickup sock and effectively blocking fuel delivery) and I feel GREAT that I can fix it and have that big boost smile again. I will post the results of this kit in my build thread, when I get it done.

This was your fuel delivery issue under boost that had you stymied? That wouldn't have occurred to me. I'm curious how this works out, and whether you finally get enough fuel to keep your mixture from leaning out under load. Did you find slime in the filter, or what tipped you off?

Yes sir, I did find what looked like "fish eggs" in my 10 micron filter so I had suspicions at that point. That was last week or maybe the week before. On Sunday, my oldest son asked if I had checked voltage AT THE PUMP, and I of course said "NO", I have to keep the car running and cant see the DMM from the drivers seat, testing voltage at the rewired pump. I got the car running and then as I would try to rev it freely, I could WATCH the pressure dropping but my son said I still had constant voltage back at the pump but as it lost pressure (I was trying to make it loose it this time), he said that the pump sounded funny. After that comment, I said it only takes me about 5 minutes to pull that pump, lets look at it since you said it sounded funny. I pull the pump and low and behold, the sock has the same slimy crap in/on it and it was not nice and white, it was discolored. I had always had good luck with my pumps (3 of them) on the FIRST RUN after install and after that, the pressure would just plummet. I used almost a whole can of Brake Parts cleaner on the FP sock to clean all of that "fish slime" crap out of the sock, reinstalled the pump and the car ran beautifully, ONCE. Then it started not being able to keep up pressure under boost. Just before I put the pump back in, I felt the tank (which LOOKED CLEAN AS A WHISTLE) with my hand and all of the metal in the tank had this "slime" on it. After that one good run on Sunday, she acted up again and I am 99% sure that the sock was getting clogged and sucked shut with the stuff.
Now the real kicker......my White 90 GSX has the same fuel and a similar issue so lets just cross our fingers, but I know that has been the issue all last year and VERY GLAD to have found it. Lets see if the cleaner works good now. Thanks for asking about it!

Awesome garage
That grass on the floor has many stories

Ive been down since my last post in here. I started the process of getting the car jacked up enough to get a jack under the diff. Gonna move the rear end over a few feet eventually so we have more room in the driveway.

Had a cortisone shot go bad a couple day after that post. There calling it a steroid flare. Only supposed to last a few days, but im on day 9 right now. Been basically laid up on the air mattress for 9 days. I hope this steroid flare goes away in a few more days. Gonna try a botox shot when I can get into see the person who does them locally
