96 eagle talon tsi fwd turbo 2.0 4g63t.... Was just wondering if i could use this as a basic tuning devise for my car?? OBD2 ECU Remap Flash TUNING TOOL EOBD-II Galletto 1260 - US$ 32.99 what would i need ?? would i need a flashable ecu or would this not work?? and before everybody chirps in with the dsmlinkv3 statements and shit i know i know one of these days i might just get dsmlink and a socketed ecu but for now i am just looking for some very light easy adjustment tuning..

You would need a flashable ecu and i am not 100 percent sure that will even work. I would be highly skeptical that something with that price would work right with these cars. If you are looking to save money than keep your eye out for a 98-99 flashable ecu and a tactrix 2.0 cable.

You can use any 2g turbo ecu in your car, eprom if you want dsmlink, 98-99 if you want to flash.

I would not let anything that cheap near my cars computer =)

just picked up an eprom off ebay... not cheap. 285 shipped(a little above the average price), but a cheaper option is getting a non eprom and having it converted(185.00) and thats not including the software(another 500). point is, you gotta PAY to play!

Or could've just got a 98/99 ecu for 100 and tactrix cable for 179 New.

are 98/99 ecu's flashable without having to socket it or chip it?? and will it work for a 96 tsi fwd manual??
regardless i will eventually get a eprom ecu with dsmlink knowledge is always nice to know... =D

I see 2g eprom ecu's here in the classified section pretty regularly for 100-150. Even a socketed one for 200. Got a set of fans cheap just last week.

Check the classifieds here first, you might be surprised what you can learn and find to help your cause. :D

That is a great feeling when something for our cars arrive in the mail. The other bad thing it seems with these cars is when you buy one item for modification there are a few more supporting mods that you have to buy for that.

I checked around for about a week and the cheapest I found was around 220 but the board looked really bad, didn't want to chance it so I bought the cleanest one I could find. probably payed more but i didn't have extra cost involved in repairs when having it socketed. It's installed and working great so I'm happy!
