k guys i have a problem that i m ready to set the car on fire LOL.. ok here is goes. stupid me trusted one of my friends to try and pull trans codes via multimeter. and the pins on the meter were too big and of course ruined the holes. so i said ok no big deal lets get a new ob2 plugs from the junky. well as my luck has it he hits the 2 wires and there was just alil arcing. anyways i then banned him from doing any work on my car ever again. so i soldered the new plug on and my ob2 scanner wont connect!!! i checked every fuse known to man. tried a new ecu. to no avail. all fuses turned up good. i even solered nother ob2 plug on no go. is there any hidden fuses i m missing here?? i dont kno wut else to do.. also i changed my tranny ecu to a one from a 99 car. fits the same and all that would not cause it not to read would it? i dont kno wut else to do any help would be appreciated!!!! :toobad:

Wow that sucks man. Well, you could try and runing a good known power to the plug to run the decoder. If you have a n/t car it should be the red with silver dotted wire. First check to see if you get power when you have the car on acc. if you don't get any power from that terminal then run a quick test wire from your battery to that terminal. you have to cut the wire but you can always put it back together if nothing works still. If it does then just run a wire from the battery to the terminal with a 5amp fuse.
That should help but let me know...I had to do the same thing

thanks for the response. when i plug the ob2 decoder in it lights up and works. it just says connecting and wont connect to the ecm. i tried 2 diff ob2 readers and none worked. they worked in other cars though. i m totally stumped :beatentodeath:

o btw i always have power it seems even with the ignition off. is this normal?

i will check that red wire with a meter tomorrow also.

you should only have power when the key is turn to acc If it is just saying connecting to ecm then you have a problem with info going or coming back to the reader. If you have had any problems with popping fuses before or melting wires then you might have wire touching one another. All of the wires that go into the car go under the driver side dash then behind the front left fender. U might have to take the fender off, cute the protection around all the wires and look to see if they are melted to one another. Basicly you aren't getting any comunication, so you have to follow the wires coming off the connecter

i dunno why but my post got del for some reason. i have a 12 v line always hott. and i have a 5v line when i turn the key to acc. could anyone else with a clipse see if they get the same thing? i still cant get my OBD2 to connect. i will have to trace the line sooner or later. but i m just curious

wow ok so it will be deleted for grammar and spelling? i thought this was a site to help people. not English class. I didn't know i had to type proper to get some help :toobad:

Most think this place is full of the grammar police. I agree and I like it that way. When you type/speak like a 12 year old, you're not going to get any positive answers to your question. If you produce a correct sentence and prepare a well constructed question, then we'll help you solve your problem. I didn't realize grammatics and syntax were a difficult thing for people past the age of 15. WTF

yeah everyone has to put there 2 cents in i guess. could never win. anyways i will not turn this into a flame match moving on.

ok i did a little probing around and this is what i found out. number 16 pin has its 12v's ECU ground checked out good number 5. Ground checked out good number 4. the only thing i dont know if its right is pin number 9 gets 7 volts when the car is turned to the ACC position. if anyone could verify this is correct it would be alot of help in the right direction, before i start stripping things apart thanks! :sosad:
