OK guys im working on purchasing a 1995 eclipse GST, but I went to test drive the car and one of the dudes lot hands put 87 octane in the car so when the turbo started to kick in the car wanted to bog down. So because the lot hand put 87 octane in the car and an O2 sensor went out. So he says i will take it to the shop and have it fixed come back in a week. SO he takes it to the mechanic and the OBD2 sensor won't communicate with the computer. im mean the car is in great shape 1 owner rally clean no burns in the seats or upholstery body is prefect just hit this 1 problem. So I still wana buy the car. Do any of you know any reason the OBD2 sensor wouldn't wana communicate with the CPU. Please help the faster the car gets fixed the faster I can have it in my driveway.

There isn't an obd2 "sensor" it is an interface with the computer.

87 octane also shouldn't make the car bog very much. If it is stock and you can tell it is bogging with 87 octane then there is probably a bigger underlying problem. What that problem is I couldn't tell you but it is possible that it just has some boost leaks which the shop can't diagnose because they aren't really everyday mechanics.

87 oct fuel should not damage an o2 sensor. 87 will make the car run bad but if its drained out and 91+ put in it should run normal again, if it dose not there are other problems.

I wouldn't buy it unless you can get live data from the port. For one thing besides the fact that it is a problem that hides other problems you would have no way to log data which means you can't tune the car making it so that you are perpetually stuck with something that can only be barely faster than stock.

Also these cars can actually run just fine on 87. I wouldn't suggest it especially long term but someone who has never driven one wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Wel l I plan on pulling the whole motor out and rebuilding it in the fall so as long as it lasts til then im ok. and im not going to but the car unless he can get that problem fixed. and that is the only problem with the car that ive notticed so far.

Pulling and rebuilding the motor wont help the problem.

Leave your number with the guy and say you will re-consider when the problem is fixed and he can show you live data coming from the car. Verify it by playing around with stuff until you see correlating results onscreen.
