Hey y’all, so I’m gonna embark on a journey that seems impossible of making a 2g GST a daily driver/show car (jokes I know it’s not impossible but yk how it be)

I’m looking for what I should do in terms of mechanical things/mods or resting back to stock I should do to make it an actual decent daily driver.

Any tips?

All maintenance first. Belts, hoses, wires, tune up items. Timing belt and water pump included.

just depends on tour definition of show car

do all the regular maintenance and keep the turbo setup simple. ive never had any problems with a good build being a daily driver.

but your already at a disadvantage if you have to ask how to make your own build?
Was Morley just curious. I know how to make a car look good no problem from other cars I’ve owned in the past, I just figured I’d ask the people that know more instead of wasting money on stuff that really isn’t great yk?

Already on top of it brother 🫡, LOL mine was owned by a redneck so I got a lil bit to fix 😂

Are you talking about care products?

Do all maintenance items and fix the leaks like Marty said. It’ll be fine if you do it all.

Care products - cleaners, waxes, polish, leather treatment, carpet magic, duct tape... all those thingies to make your car actually LOOK like a show car. There's a lot of crap out there. Browse Wally World or Autobone for a minute and you'll see. A lot of us have spent some good coin on quality chemicals and materials and can make recommendations.

And as has been said, a modified car can be a good show car and DD. A lot depends on what you like and what your budget is. I'm currently building a 97 Spyder to be just that - ~400 hp, daily, and showable. Not prize winning, but fun to pop the hood at local gatherings and shows.

That’s actually very helpful! Mine came with some nice upgraded things so I really just need to get a tune to hopefully fix up some of the odd small things, then after that and all the maintenance it’s onto the good stuff! Thank you for this I appreciate it 🙏

I guess it depends on how you define "show car."

If that definition means no blemishes and correct amount of overspray; no dirt, grease, oil, etc. on any pieces or parts; an ability to basically eat off of the engine or perform surgery in the interior; judges and trophies; prizes and money awarded for specific classes, then I agree - no car that is driven regularly can be a show car. These show cars are trailer queens that spend most of their lives in a garage and being wiped with a diaper... and that is absolutely okay. Building such a machine to the level of perfection needed to win competitions is extremely difficult, and I would never even think of driving such a car beyond what is absolutely necessary to keep it functioning. Nothing wrong with fine art being kept behind glass and cordoned off away from damaging elements.

If that definition means the car looks really sharp and is meticulously well maintained, a car that is regularly waxed and polished, gets taken to local gatherings or makes the occasional trip to a special show, a car where the hood gets popped and the owner stands around and yaks with other enthusiasts where the meet is more of a social gathering than a competition, then I disagree. A DD can absolutely be a show car, because the fans and enthusiasts are interested in conversation and commiseration, not perfection and whose paint was most perfectly applied. Nothing wrong with a guy (or gal) showing off their hard work to those who can appreciate it, then going to grab a beer in that same car after the show.

You can make anything a show car give ot your best and show it off. Depends on your reality goals and shoe car requirements. There aren't barret Jackson platforms, I guess Hondas are and cars you can still get oem parts for.
