Hello!
I need to change my power steering belt as I've noticed a small crack in it. I can't seem to find any good how-to's on how to do this. Anyone got any tips or a step-by-step for me? I'm gonna do it this afternoon, anything will help! (I'm going to change the alternator/water pump belt too since I'm at it anyways).
Thanks!

REMOVAL:
You will need to loosen the four 10mm water pump pulley bolts. Once done loosen the alternator belt and remove two pulleys you loosened with the alternator belt loosened and then remove the power steering belt and alternator belt along with the pulleys.

INSTALLATION:
Hopefully you know how to put it all back. One thing you will have to do is loosen the two 14mm bolts on the power steering pump to adjust the tension on the belt once installed and also to install the belt. Other than that its reverse order.

1/4" deflection on both belts should suffice.

Ask if you need more detail or need help.

You don't even need to loosen the water pump pulleys. Just loosen the 3 bolts on the power steering pump. Then loosen the alternator belt by taking the tension off with the alternator tensioner bolt.

Remove the alternator belt, then the power steering belt. It's a tight fit, but you can snake the belts out past the water pump pulley.

Re-installation is the opposite of removal. I use a short crow bar to pry the power steering pump into position to tighten the belt.

Ah, you're right, I'am too used to taking that stuff off when I am taking my timing cover off.

Either way works though.

Oh, lord. One thing I hate about a DSM is how cramped the pulley side is.

Do what the other posters said, and make sure the tensioner is on correctly or else the belt won't sit right and it'll screw up the alternator system. I learned that the hard way. Took me 3 hours to figure out why the hell the alternator wouldn't fit back down until I realized the tensioner screw wasn't sitting on correctly.

Ahh theses guys pretty much have it covered. Literally just did this 30 minutes ago just loosen all the bolts on the PS pump bracket (the two bolts behind the pulley are easy to get to if you crank til the holes in the pulley match up to where the bolts are and grab a ratchet extension) then kinda the same for the alternator. Could have it done in 20 minutes if your good :)

Note: its smart if your reusing the alternator belt to mark which way it is rotating with a marker and put it back the same so you don't encounter abnormal wear. Manufacture repair guide suggests doing that for every belt being reused on the car that is taken off.
