420A Power steering belt

Alright I've gone through 4 power steering belts now and im sick of them shredding. What is the fix for this? I've already shimmed the power steering pump I've f***ed with the idler too many times yet it keeps happening. Any ideas?

You might be applying too much tension. I've also seen warped power steering pulleys but usually that just walks the belt off. Watch the pulley spin as the engine runs to rule that out. I bet it's just too much tension.

I've looked at all the pulleys only thing thats strange is the power steering pump kinda goes in and out id have to post a video

I know what you mean. It's a bit clicky with about 1/8" - 1/4" play. I have the exact same issue. Bought a new pump and turns out it has that same play.

What I've seen is that is fine. Play in the Y or Z axis is bad. I got the belt to stop squeaking for a bit, but I notice it rides off the AC compressor. No idea why it does this. The AC compressor bearing seems fine. I'll mess with it tomorrow.

I actually got it to stay for the time being, knock on wood . I ended up taking out the lower bolt from the pump and just jamming a washer down in there. Its definitely ghetto to say the least but its working and thats all I care about
