Thoughts on FP 68HTA

How many 68hta's have ran 10's? We all know that car is built to drag and being auto just makes it eaiser to back it up. 95% of the people with the 68hta will probibly never see 10's with this turbo. It has its place though, a really good road/race or street/strip turbo. An HX40 can easily out flow the 68hta.

Ah Ignorance is bliss isn't it? After years upon years of the HX40 being available, I believe the fastest one runs high 10s (non backed up) Where as this little guy has ran back to back mid/low 10s already without breaking a sweat on a full weight car and stock block that just so happens to be an auto to boot. :rocks:
Imagine what the car would do if he bolted a HX40 to it? Would the car even be able to make good use of the extra 20-25lb/min of airflow the HX40 would provide?

Unfortunately not as well I'm sure. The 68HTA will spool quickly enough off the stock converter, the HX40 would not and would be a dog out of the hole. Even if the HX40 made quite a bit more power. Its the combination of all the stuff they have in that car that makes it run so well.

Let's not imagine what a larger turbo might do. Here it is, straight from the man himself:

Plus the the head would need different springs and a different intake manifold. Plus there is noting more fun then beating big turbo cars with my little turbo.

Maybe I am getting old but I like to race every time the track is open just for fun. This is a DSM that can do that with low operating cost."

Yes, that is what I was referring to. Didn't have time to find it. Thanks. :thumb:

ive got one that ill trade for a good 14b with some boot or a mhi big 16g...

Would you trade it for something in between? I have a small 16g in good shape - I've confirmed the serial numbers so it's legit. Hit me up please. Thanks!

I'm looking for a turbo that will get me at the 400awhp level. A tad above or a tad below, as long as I'm close. Will this turbo be able to achieve that?

Sounds like eh need a 16G Dave. no use going the 68HTA route unless you already can assure yourself your setup would max out a E316 or else its a waste of money.

There ahs been ONE person with an HTA68 out perform a regular old 16G and thats Lucas whom does stuff that is already crazy. In all reality his 16G setup would have been running similar times on his current setup too..

Ah yes. I, too, have had one of these pass through my shop. It's now on Christi's 2G, and I aptly named said turbo the "Texas 16G" because it uses the largest compressor wheel that will fit in a TD05H cover:

i'D like some more info on this turbo, how does it perform? cost?
