The Battle of "Eris"

100% stock, un-wrenched 1g. Been sitting on it for over 20 years waiting for my chance to build. Diamond in the rough at this point?

Well my house smells like paint again. OMGWasn’t planning on doing this today but got it prepped and ready to paint so said the hell with it let’s go for it instead of waiting for a long weekend which is preferred. It came out pretty good for battling the storms around here today and not taking a whole day to prep the garage as much as I normally do. Couple of tiny pieces of lint or something did get on it in a few spots which bummed me out with how good the paint job looked overall. Maybe we can correct it out later? Paint gun gave me a fit during the base coat to start, had to take it apart and re-clean every part three time before it would behave, that was fun right in the middle of trying to spray.

Awesome job! You do great work especially out of the garage. I now know first hand how hard it is to paint in a garage.
Thank you. Ya it’s definitely tough and been a good learning experience. If I can ever build the house I want with shop I’ll be putting in a proper paint booth!

So this may seem silly to some but today was actually a milestone for Eris and I. She officially got her first new parts installed! :p
Not gonna lie I was dragging my feet the last couple of weeks to pull the plastic and tape as I was terrified about the lines between the black and blue getting screwed up. All in all definitely not perfect but I reckon pretty damn good for in my garage with a cheap setup and it being my first time, at least that’s what my wife says.
I’m an idiot though I forgot to back tape the two holes on top of the door jambs and got black mist overspray on the beautiful jamb. Hoping I can get that off with some clay maybe?

Edit: Clay did not work. Tried three different types. 5000 grit Trizac sandpaper and Chemical Guys luber spray with lots of rubbing got the overspray mishap removed with zero damage to the clear coat. Was VERY happy with this!

Oh wow. Thanks guys. I’m my biggest critic so all I see is the flaws. Good enough for a 90’s shitbox…:idontknow:
It really means a lot to get that much kudos…culmination of 25 yrs of dreaming and talking to her. Long ways to go still.
Contemplating doing the rear quarters now or just start putting stuff back together and spraying them later.

No work on the car lately. Sad face. Been working on other things like a new shed build and picking up the dead weight with labor problems in my company. I know we complain about this down here all the time, but f@$k it’s so hot it’s inhumane! The humidity is the killer. Today took another 17 - 20 bottles of water/gatorade to get through the day, I lost count. The sweat literally pouring out as fast as you can put it in.

Sadly no time to work on the car lately. I did order the new Buschur exhaust as a birthday gift to myself though. Wish I could’ve went to a shootout this year finally. Eh, one day.

Legitimately, you and I should link up and coordinate and we'll go together one year.

Still love that paint. Gorgeous, man. I like the darker/electric blue better for the 1GB Talons, but that's a keeper for sure. Especially nice and fresh.

One day is right! I really wanted to go but this year was just a bad year for me. Aside from being busy my car developed a nasty death wobble. Maybe next year.

@DreamChaser7 @CrackedDSM I will be driving up next year for the shootout. So I can have a bigger display and booth. Why dont we plan it for all of us to go up in a group. We will likely split the trip up over a few days as 16 hours each way is alot of driving so we was planning about 8hrs a day overall and a stay over, hopefully by then the wife can drive and take some of the straight roads and help with the times

I’ve been talking about this thing for years, my wife will want to go too. Would need to take two rigs. Was really hoping to trailer my car when I went but that’s not going to be by next year obviously, not without a LOT of help and infusion of funds. We’ll have to play it by ear I reckon and see.

My wife is already looking forward to 2026 LOL Planning what's going to be new and what we can do to be bigger and have more clothing as we was asked ALL weekend so we need clothing.

Even if you don't get to come with the car at least we all get to go up together in a group

So I recently ordered the Morrison Fab DSM Saturn Alternator Adapter. Question: does anyone know what the part number for this alternator is and is there different part numbers for different amperage’s that will work with this? Thanks.

AcDelco 335-1036, I believe. I think there are different amperages out there, I think I saw one that was 105amps on RockAuto.

Unfortunately no. Too many other things going on. Running a business, having a f’ed up back, and other side projects along with all the crap to keep the house in order has me looking around like WTF!!. Can’t keep up with it all. Hoping to get caught up on a few things soon and get back to her.
