I think im going to start getting in on some of this. Once the local track is all clear then it should be eventful.

Easily believable....I went [email protected] on stock injectors with stock regulator, stock ECU and no fuel control.....

So why can't I run over 15 or so psi without getting lean. Were you guys on race gas? I'll be getting dsmlink and injectors in the next month or so so it won't be an issue for me anymore but I'm just curious.

hahahaha,
I went 11.69 on stock 450's with 48psi fuel pressure and 116 octane. Sorry I don't know the AF ratio, I didn't have a wideband at the time. I'm sure it was a little lean, but it wasn't knocking.

Dave.. when you comin out? Think we can run faster than 12s with a stock sidemount? LOL...

Yes, that was on VP C16 - 117 octane. But, I used to run 18 psi on Sunoco 94 on the street with no problems....and I don't mean cruisung, I mean every weekend whipping the snot out of Camaro's, Mustang's, Corvette's, and the occasional 911 Turbo......:D

Wondering if you have some kind of flow blockage.....

Dave.. when you comin out? Think we can run faster than 12s with a stock sidemount? LOL...

That's a walk in the park...how bout when are you coming out? Is Dave the only guy in CA. that has a DSM worth talking about?...guess so......ROFL

Jose!!!! Glad you're back man! Can't wait to see your car in action again!:thumb:

Thanks Phil, glad to be back. Once we get a house and situated I am sure I'll be looking for some local tracks to visit.

12.1 on the 450 injectors? How! What was your fuel pressure? AFR? Was that on street tires? Welcome back, I remember your car.

Fuel pressure I am not sure. No fuel pressure gauge. Yes, on street tires. 225/40/18 Falken Ziex. My car is a daily driver so how I run the streets is how I go to the track. The only track prep is throw in some race fuel, raise the boost, lower tire pressure and rock and roll.

What is Arctic using to log? Great times.

No logging taking place. No secrets really, I use the MAF-Translator to trim my fuel trims, which is adjustable in + or - 5% increments. Then I raise or lower the boost to fine tune. Thats It. I only run 20-22psi at the track and with racing fuel(112-117). I have been a weekend racer for at least 20 years. I started tuning and tinkering with cars before laptops and pocket loggers were readily available or affordable for that matter. Just start with a solid engine or solid rebuild. Sticking to mechanical fundamentals. Then ensure my fuel delivery is adequate for the load and that I have sufficient spark. So the only real way of knowing I wont have anything "catastrophic" happen, is I tune for the proper 02's at Wide Open Throttle. So as long as I get the proper voltage reading at WOT and it is all in the green I tune for that. No seceret or no fancy formula, just good old fashion mechanical know-how

Just like Phil, I have ran 16-18psi on the street on premium pump gas with no problems. Even ran a personal pump gas best of 12.39 @ the track. Thats with a completely stock fuel system other than a pump rewire. So you must have other issues.

There are actually quite a few. A boat laod of 11 and 12 ones, a handful of 10 ones and a couple single digit cars. Plenty to talk about. On top of that Our Evo scene is crazy and other than the East coast boys NorCal runs the Evo show.

This is basically Team English home track down here too, same went for when Jake was runnign. So nah we got plenty of action and thats just the 4G boys. Dunno what that comment meant or implied but hopefully that cleared it all up.

I like building the cars, running it at the track is, bleh. I find no joy in sticking with the same thing for a long time hahah, on to bigger and better ya know. I just know that the current Galant 14b time is really high so it wouldn't take much to beat it, I just upset myself every time a dollar goes to the Galant that should goto the Talon. :(

About right now I need a clutch and I can get back on track.

The highest octane I can get here is 91. I've got a rewired Walbro 255 fuel pump, buschur/sx AFPR, and 20 year old 450's. I'm guess the injectors could be clogged or not spraying at their prime. Either way, they are getting replaced/upgraded very shortly! :thumb:

12.0 on the 14b/gvr4 is the fastest I went between 109 and 112 before the 14b snapped shaft. Oh well. You've had all year to go beat the time, but we haven't seen a single timeslip yet.:D

The weather looks good this Saturday, I should be able to make it out for Test-N-Tune. I just hope it's dry with no fog. I have the 16G on my car right now trying to see what it can do.

All year? I didn't try until a few months back. Got the car finished and simply realized I wouldn't find any joy in running 11s/12s when I'm piecing together a single digit car and did 10s 5+yrs ago LOL.

Its not a matter of can it be done, as mentioned before I'm all about the journey more so than the destination. I finished the car, drove it around a month and realized how much slower it was than my RX8 and parked it with no intentions to drive it again hahaha.

I figure if I set my goals a bit higher it might give me a little more incentive to get back at it. Who knows. I'm more interested in letting Dave take a hit at these times, he's the small turbo boss I just enjoy the show. Don't worry though, if I don't get rid of it I'll take it out just for sh*ts and giggles.:rocks:

Give me a ring if you go out. I need to get ahold of Dave from Marysville and see if he still has that XTD clutch setup. I'm sure I wont be ready before spring time though.

That about sums it up...

Phil, I suggest you put up a list of the fastest 14b times in the first post of this thread. It'd be nice to see all of the info gathered in one place, considering how incomplete the dsmtimes list is at this point.

Well, I can't edit the first post.......

It would be nice to figure out the actual top 10 14b times wouldn't it? It's right next to impossible however since there isn't a complete list anywhere currently and apparently some people aren't on any of the lists. I bet if anyone could come up with it though it'd be Phil haha :D

Anyone running a stroker with a 14b? I just tore apart the motor in my GS-T due to too much endplay and just bought a 4g64 crank. I plan on moving to a larger turbo a few months after I get it put back together but I'm just curious what the results would be with it.

Best I can come up with utilizing what we have listed thus far, obviously it needs some major adjusting, others have ran better times and then switched to other setups and changed their 1/4 mile listing to reflect the new turbo or whatever and their top 10 time may not be here, so help us out with what you know. Obviously this list excludes nitrous runs.

1. Joe Bucci 10.841 @ 126.63
2. Phil Beers 11.497 @ 113.85
3. David Womer 11.514 @ 118.13
4. Leon Reiman 11.642 @ 116.56
5. Nick Carleton 11.767 @ 115.93
6. Aaron Sadorf 11.815 @ 116.33
7. Mike Knott 11.839 @ 117.78
8. Rob Harfman 11.938 @ 119.41
9. Nate Crisman 11.93? @ 111
10.Mr Peepers (name unknown) 12.004 @ 115.6

Unfortunately about the most accurate list I could come up with in a short time. I'm sure there alot of corrections to be made. :D Come on old fellas help me out. :thumb:

Lol, don't worry Phil will fill in the blanks (if you knew Phil, that would be a pun intended :p ).

Dsm times just got updated, like today. I'm now 525(on a holset), up from about 1500 on my 14b.

When I looked in my email box this morning and saw a message from dsmtimes.org that was titled, "Your time has been accepted," I almost laughed....but no kidding.......awesome!

ROFL !!!!!

So let me do just that.....

1. Joe Bucci 10.841 @ 126.63
2. Phil Beers 11.497 @ 113.85
3. David Womer 11.514 @ 118.13
4. Leon Reitman 11.642 @ 116.56
5. Nick Carleton 11.767 @ 115.93

6. Lucas English [email protected] - I know he ran 11.7 and blew up his 14b this year

7. Aaron Sadorf 11.815 @ 116.33
8. Mike Knott 11.839 @ 117.78 - pretty sure this is a 3000 GT with twins...this run matched identically with the run of Matt Jannusch who states "twin" 14bs, but, we'll leave it for now I guess
9. Rob Harfman 11.938 @ 119.41
10. Nate Crisman 11.9X @ 111 - fill in the blank Nate!

That's it......all the rest are nibbling at 12.0, and remember Nate went 12.0 in his VR4 with the 14b as well, so he may be #11 too........

DOH! How did I forget English took that car out on the 14b LOL. But wow I might not have had as bad a list as I thought. As far as we can see there have only been 10 dsms in the 11's w/out nitrous, and obviously only one got into the 10's so far.

As far as Mike Knott he claims to have done it with a 1990 Plymouth Laser-FWD. - I know Aaron Sadorf is another laser guy, teal one right? Then Harfman is also a fwd laser guy. Alot of early lasers on the 14b list, must be the lightweight platform :sneaky:

So the top 5 14b AWD guys looks something like this.

1. Phil Beers 11.497 @ 113.85
2. David Womer 11.514 @ 118.13
3. Leon Reiman 11.642 @ 116.56
4. Nick Carleton 11.767 @ 115.93
5. Lucas English [email protected]

That's a pretty tough nut to crack just to hit the top 5 AWD times considering 11.64 stood for so long! Does anyone know who Nick Carleton was/is? Never remember seeing that time anywhere but on the DSMTimes list.

The timeslip from 2004 with my non-nitrious 11.9 @ 111 14b time in my yellow 1g is long gone. Im unfortunately missing a large chunk of personal dragstrip history in that I can't figure out where a folder of timeslips are from about 2004 till 2007...which had all the GRM $2004 related slips, pretty much everything from my Evo8, lightning, and srt4. Sux.

But...here's the slip for my fastest 14b pass in GVR4 #139:
1.700 <---spinning through first on QTPs due to cold/wet track and tires.
4.986
7.694 @ 90.06
10.025
12.023 @ 113.02

kinda funny, that run was "all mph" and the last run of the night as the track was getting slippery. I ran a 12.07 @ 111.76 on a 1.573 which looks like much better driving, but was still on street tune/boost settings.

8. Mike Knott 11.839 @ 117.78 - pretty sure this is a 3000 GT with twins...this run matched identically with the run of Matt Jannusch who states "twin" 14bs, but, we'll leave it for now I guess

So lets just same i ran a 14b in a colt.. Does that not count then? Are we talking about a turbo or a turbo in a specific car? I believe we should let 3000gt's run in the competition. That doesn't mean im running a 3s ;).
