Merry Christmas all!

There was a GoPro Camera in my stocking this morning!

I'll mount it to the roof of the talon facing backwards so all you guys can see Hubz when we raceROFL

I like the GoPro a lot! It would have been on my list but I already have the Olympus Tough (which is also waterproof) so instead I got a Ram Mount to use with my camera for Christmas.

You all have to set some dates so I can schedule a vacation to head out there! Don't get me wrong I'm not keeping up with the big boys yet, but I'd be willing to run a few times perhaps as well, DRIVING my car all the way there and back! Seriously though it'd be a blast to have a 14b get together.

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!

I'll be putting any/all cash received into the 14b talon no worries there, don't expect any car parts for Christmas this year though, but maybe a gift card for automotive purposes yet!

Sounds like a plan if we can make it happen.

Sounds like your car should have all the ingredients needed to hit 11 seconds. Now that you have those ingredients, make sure you cook em up right!:D

Happy Holidays!

It has them now haha just need to get the power to the ground better, but some more power isnt gonna hurt anyone either, right? :)

Faster than 11.5 you have to have a roll bar. Faster than 135mph or 10s. Faster than 149mph you need a chute. etc etc etc///

LMFAO!

Get another one for the side so we can see who wins when we run em, "it was a photo finish lois!" -Peter Griffin

Naaa....I'll just keep it facing back.....I wouldn't want to miss anythingROFL

That would be cool! Eh, I'd love to set a date, but, until I see what it's gonna take to get my talon back together, I couldn't even say. At the earliest, summer for me I think. Nice, want to see you in the 11's for 2011.

Good to see that you're already enjoying your GoPro, LOL! Can't wait to see some video! :thumb:

Update on my car, After installing the VRSF FMIC my boost was creeping to 20+ (set at 14 psi). I picked up a used Megan Racing stainless steel tubular o2 sensor housing for $40 shipped =) I got it installed a few days ago and started working on some Boost Leak Tests.

The day before I changed the o2 sensor housing I noticed that I was only boosting 12 psi. Boost leak. From the throttle body elbow it held 20 psi. From the turbo inlet it held 0 psi. I found a HUGE leak where the j-pipe mounted to the turbo. I fixed that (as far as I can tell for now) and did another boost leak test at the turbo inlet, it held 0 psi. I found another HUGE leak where I had tapped the nipple for my MBC on the LICP. I took that off yesterday and JB welded all around it. I've been letting it cure overnight so I'll hopefully be able to get it back on and do another BLT before work. (If not I'm off tomorrow so it will get done then). I'll keep y'all updated on the BLTs and how the Megan Racing o2 housing helps with creep in the very near future.

Ok, I've been working on my BLTs and I've gotten it to hold 9 psi from the turbo inlet but it sounds like it is leaking inside the turbo. My last 14b did the same thing but it was blown so I figured that was why. Is there a reason why? Am I missing something?

There is a seal inside the compressor housing, it's probably bad. Kind of a pain in the butt. Mine had the same issue. I believe you can get them through JNZtuning since they can get most OEM parts you'd have to call them. Mine was a HORRIBLE leak though, so it's a must to replace. Part number should be.

Forgive me if I'm wrong though.

Sounds like you're making significant progress though!

Wow, I just read this WHOLE thread from the first page to here... My wifes kind of pissed at me for spending so much time on the couch with the laptop. But she will get over it.I'd like to make a few comments here, I think it's absolutely great what you guys are doing. I would have never dreamed that someone could go so fast on such a mildly moded engine as Phils.

Due to what I have read about in this thread I have decided to totally change my approach, although I didn't use any cheap parts, all name brand, and well chosen I left out a few critical elements, mostly the ability to tune the ####ing thing. So next time I get the chance, (and this may be years from now since I am stationed in Germany right now and about to go to Afghan land soon for my 3rd tour in 5yr's *yay* :(.) I will be putting a few of the stock parts back on the car and starting over in a way. Anyway great work to all who made it into the 11's, I hope to read about your exploits in 2011.

P.S. I'd like to take a moment and state that not all people in the military act like 18yr olds who are likely fresh out of training and in there first unit.

Got a giggle out of that one. Appreciate your sacrifice.

I was afraid of that! Hmm. Well thanks! Not sure when I'm going to be able to get to that. I was hoping it was something simple. Is this a common issue? I'd never heard of it leaking before but I'm 2 for 2 on 14bs. :banghead:

It's more common then I thought when I found mine leaking. But I had a hard time coming up with the seal, ended up getting mine from a guy who used to work for a vendor and still has some connections. But I'm sure JNZ could get one considering. It's not all that hard to replace, you might not even have to pull the whole turbo depending on wether or not you can get to that huge snap ring (whatever it's called that holds the compressor housing on). But chances are it'll just involve pulling the turbo.

OK, so I just pull the turbo, pop off the snap ring, the cover slides off, and there is the seal? I've never been inside the turbo before. I did some checking on that part number and it seems to be what I need. Also you are right, it does seem to be more common, I'm surprised I hadn't heard of it before. I checked JNZ's OEM website but they don't have md613776 listed. I've got an order with JNZ that hasn't shipped yet, I'll call them today and see if they can get it and if so just add it to my order.

Thanks for your help!

No problem buddy! Like i said, the part # might be off, it's just what I found searching. I can't remember for the life of me what mine said on it. You can clearly see it on this picture of a 16g chra from FP.

Forced Performance Turbochargers: Mitsubishi Evo III 16g CHRA

I think I paid like 11 bucks for it, but it comes in any and all rebuild kits as well.

EDIT: Searched on JNZ, I got scammed LOL. Under part number md613776 it comes up as O-RING,T/C INR price listed as 7.40

I just called JNZ and talked to Paul, he said that Mitsubishi does not sell those seals. He recommended Blouch Turbo, I'm going to do some checking and see what I can find.

EDIT: I just saw your edit. Hmm, 'cause I just spoke with him on the phone and he said they didn't have that.

EDIT x2: I can't find it on their website under the keyword or part number, do you have a link?

EDIT x3: I called Blouch Turbo but they are closed for the holidays, called JNZ back and Paul searched the part number and sure enough, $7.40 and he added it to my order!

Thanks so much Shane!

No worries buddy! I just got my new polished overflow can from Summit, at least now I'll pass tech! I had to ditch the stock one with the IC piping. Slowly coming along, next stop, weight loss!

I had to ditch my stock one too for my FMIC. I'm using a vitamin water bottle at the moment, will that not pass tech? Can you post a link to the one you went with?
