With his car we could careless about track numbers.. Get your information straight. The goal of MY car is 10s on street tires. You're quoting me about two different cars.

Your right. My apologies but it is getting quite tough to determine what car your actually talking about in some of your posts with all the bullshet in between. Either way good luck with your build and getting out of this bottomless hole you dug yourself into LOL.

Nate, since you're sticking with methanol I'd definately use the 9:1 pistons, everything I've ever read about using straight methanol says it loves high compression. As with the rods I'd go with whatever is lighter as either is going to handle the power easily. Also you should have a pm regarding those tires/wheels.

I have to admit I'm itching to start yanking everything out of my car, it's a good thing I haven't picked up a heater yet or I'd have my car stripped down to nothing, it's time to get serious again and take some weight off!

Wow, this is nutsLOL

Hubz, how bout we get something SOLID going here.....:sneaky:

Being from where you are in PA, and where I am in CT, Maple Grove Raceway seems to be just about halfway between us:cool:

So, what better place for our first meeting? Screw waiting for the DSM Shootout. That's the wrong place to come out and get your ass beat anyway.

I'll meet you at a Maple Grove Test and Tune next year and you can run me heads up. Best out of 3 runs----HOT lapping just like PINKS All OutROFL

Put up or shut up:p

Put your money where your mouth is:tease:

Come to think of it, I could probably sell tickets to this:D

Now what.......

Maple is a hour from me...I'm in! I'll run no spray & 14b to make it fair.

Lol you crack me up phil. I don't think I have enough time before august to have the car track ready. Where is this track at you're talking about? Keep in mind that I'm in dc so whatever track you're referring too is probably closer to me now.

Lulz....couldn't resist could yah?

Took the words right out of my head there Shane. Higher comp (since you got it) and weigh those babies up. The lightest set wins (provided they are balanced to each other as well).

So if your brothers car made all this hp on the dyno, why didn't we ever hear anything about a track number? I couldn't give a rats behind about a dyno number, the track is what we care about here.........So we're supposed to believe you have some "super secret squirrel" knowledge that's going to show everyone up who's gone before. Prove it or shut up IMHO, sitting here and saying it's going to happen 2 years from now has everyone in stitches,.............But you've come off as a real internet tough guy, instead of coming off as wanting to be a part of this community which has built this thread and the interest in the 14b, as well as helped each other out along the way. Essentially you've shown yourself to be against all that this thread has been about thus far.

Shane, very well said and complete. Like you made mention of after, that's all that needs to be said on the subject. Done.

Cool, see Hubz you've got 6 passes to make now.....

Can I come in with my 20g and a 3000lb car??

Sure, just change the compressor side and you're welcome:D

Good, I'm glad you're getting as much of a kick out of me as we all are of you.

If you're in DC it's still almost even. Englishtown New Jersey works too. Or we could run Atco too, hell I'll come down to Crofton, MD and run at Capitol. Wherever......

Lulz....couldn't resist could yah?

Nate 9:1 on e85 isn't much difference than on meth. Only benefit would be ait. This is where I think everyone is going the wrong way. Low compression isn't the answer. Why wouldn't you run something higher to the point that meth is needed. Curt brown and brad gary both ran 11:1 on just e85. (same curt brown built motor)

Why don't I run 11:1 compression like Curt? Simply because I do not have a Curt Brown budget! I don't have thousands to spend on an ideal engine combo. In fact, I have pretty much no budget to speak of at all, only what I can either snag off a parts car for free or trade parts for. It's fine though, I'm just as happy to go as fast as I can with what junky used or stock parts fall into my lap. (still faster than the majority of wallet racers anyway, so it's all good)

Maple grove, island, or numidia. I'll attempt to make an appearence for this. just go on a test and tune day and make a tri state dsm meet out of it.

As far as making a debut at the shootout and getting shut down, well I see that as the best place and worse place to show what you got. If your knowledgable and know what your doing it will show on the track. Or if you just go on the forums all day and speculate and bench race then that will show on the track just as easily.

I think the showdown at etown and the shootout in ohio just simply arent enough events for us. We need to make a points series!!!!

Dsm's are not te ideal bracket car. Can't really do points head to head. I agree that more events should be hosted. Lucky for us in the tri state both are close. Look at everyone elses position.

14b meet at Atco in early '11! I work 15 minutes away, I'll be there as soon as they re-open. :rocks:

That would be sweet but there's a possibility that I won't be out until the latter part of the season. I definitely won't be out in March, that I know for sure. I need some warmer weather to do some of the things I want to do. No real rush for me, but, I will not BS around either. The car will be done ASAP:thumb:

Im still batting around what to do for a shortblock for 2011, and I have quite a few options kicking around in the shop:
a set of +.020 manly 9:1 pistons w/ matching +.020 block
a set of 8.5:1 CP standard bore pistons w/ matching block
a parts car coming in with a good condition 8.5:1 2g piston/6bolt rebuild.
Have the 7.8:1 oem short-block from 2010 that is fine, but needs to be decked.
Have two sets of rods: Eagle and Manley.

Im moving back to the 14b!

If I can get 150lb more out of the car, wow...it might make 1.2whp more on the dyno due to rolling resistance:toobad:

I vote the 9:1 set up as well......

And, I would hope you'd give the 14b another shot. Joe B. has been at the top long enough:nono:

yeah, Im leaning toward just putting the "all manley" block back together. It needs a crank and one rod (had spun bearing), which I can get direct from manley for under a hundred bucks. New rings, bearings, gaskets, and assembly and it should be good to go. Most likely I'll have the block decked just so I don't have to worry about HG seal issues again this season. I can use the crank out of my 2010 motor (the block is really wasted between being cracked at the bellhousing ear and the deck surface being torched). If I really wanted to be cheap, I could even re-use those bearings!

As for the head...I'v gotta snag the upgraded valvetrain from the torched 2010 head and take a 1g core to the machine shop to be gone over, decked, and assembled. Still hoping a 272 intake cam and some adjustable gears fall in my lap soon, but Im not holding my breath. If I have to run the 264/272 combo again with stock gears it's no big deal as the exhaust side is what really matters on a nitrous car anyway.

I snatched up a nice FP exhaust manifold and the larger Aeromotive FPR that has the dual side port that I can feed the nitrous kit from. Also snagged 1650 FIC bluemax injectors and the EasyTune box, they should be in the ballpark to get close to 100% methanol. I have a Tial MVS wastegate kicking around with an assortment of springs from when I had a T3T4 on my gvr4. I think Im going to pick up an ebay SS o2 housing that's "dump to atm" stype and have a buddy cut the dumptube and weld the tial flange there and remove the internal wastegate. Makes a little more room for the intake pipe and might help a bit of boost dropoff due to the internal gate blowing open?

Guess my winter shopping list is small:
  • kiggly end clutch upgrade for the trans....cheap and easy swap
  • 12v vacuum pump for the brakes. (make car easier to stage/launch without creeping)
  • gasket set and another mitsu metal hg
  • 4 port nitrous kit (sell off single fogger to cover part of it)
  • 15" wheel/tire combo (sell off 16" rota/qtp set)
  • autometer tach and water temp gauge (removing oem dash)
  • Painless fuse/relay box for replacing the oem chassis harnesses
  • Cheap O2 housing to modify for external gate

Sounds killer....post up when you have some of that stuff in the works.....

I say one day, next season, Phil, Hubz, and myself all meet at the same track to show whats up.....I feel like me and Phil will be the only two duking it out, but im all for Hubz to be right there too! LOL

Nate, you can come too, id just like to see the car run and just meet you face to face!

My plans this winter are get the head re done and worked, adjustable gears on to advance the intake cam and pick up a few....an aluminum driveshaft, and some good stickies. Once the head is back from the shop, ill get it back on the dyno since ive switched to link, i need to fully tune it again. Oh and speed density is what im running now, so add that to the recipe :)

Im hoping nate gets back to me soon. I'm trying to work something out that would help me and him. I may not be on the 14b but I feel I follow this more then the Holset threads as of late. I'd just like to run along side these set ups. Knowing what my turbo is capable of and getting beat by 14b/16g would be amazing.

Sounds like a plan if we can make it happen.

Sounds like your car should have all the ingredients needed to hit 11 seconds. Now that you have those ingredients, make sure you cook em up right!:D

Happy Holidays!

I'm sure he will...you doin up some top secret stuff too:D

I'll be home in june. I'll run whatever I have even if it doesn't have 2nd gear.

Gotta have 2nd gear man.....noone wants to run you with any type of concern. I, for one want to see what you are made of. I could care less if you lay down 100 HP more than me, if you can't drive, it won't matter, you'll need all that extra horsepower just to chase me down, especially with your full interior street car intentions. For example, my 11.49 run vs. Pneumos 11.51 run: Reaction time withdrawn here:

I get him out of the hole, have him by .15 or so at the 330', by .08 at the 1/8th, about .05 at the 1000' mark, and by a measely .02 at the traps. I cross the line at 113.85 and he crosses at 118.1. Some of that is gear related with the slicks I'm running as I have been right up near 117 before. But, in a direct comparison of our best two runs, that's how it goes down. He's almost 500 lbs. heavier than I am, but still traps higher with the huge power advantage he has.

I don't want to run you with a hurt car. I want to run when you've got everything set, but, not in two years when whatever other engine is ready. Sometime in 2011 and if you can't get your car healthy by then, you've really been speaking way too prematurely---

....In 2012.....if I'm still running 14b, or not, you'll most likely be chasing me in the 10's, not trying to beat an 11.49 pass. If I haven't gone 10's by then, regardless of turbo, I won't be drag racing anymore.

Phil maybe if I advance a rank in march or my girlfriend gets me a trans for my bday. On street tires.. it's obviously I'm down at the start of the race. I'm depending on my power and street tires for big traps.

PHil, Nothing top secret. Just dont want anyone else taking something else before I can get to it. I have some parts he may be able to put to use that I just dont think I'll need anymore and right now he has parts I think I can put to real good use.

On another note... MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!! hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday and santa gets you all the dsm parts weve been waiting for. haha.

Lol let's just take this to the freeway :)

I'm down for a DSM meet at the track for some fun with the beater.

Marry Christmas ladies and gents.
