The Preludes are about the only Hondas I'd ever own. Would definitely have one as a secondary (third) car again.. had a 90 very briefly. A H22 swap never materialized for it.
Its been a wonderful car and rarely gives her any issues except the ongoing random misfire that could be one of a million things that Ive been trying to track down, but hasnt affected its drivability at all. No more worries since Im going to switch her over to antique plates this year like I did with my car and not have to worry about passing emissions anymore. Just wish she wouldve ended up with a Base model instead of the type SH.

This ATTS system just makes everything 10 times harder and hard to find parts since the whole suspension system almost makes it completely different car that no one wants to support. But it runs and handles extremely well, shifts like butter, very dependable and fun to drive. Oddly enough when i was looking for an eclipse... I was gonna settle on a Prelude. Glad I didnt because I hate the lack of vendor support and the forum support, but glad I get to enjoy both cars for like the last 20 years.

Wish i was more mechanically inclined, Id swap a k20.

Which ESP did you go for? I started with the WROOM and the 8266 long ago and only recently checked in again.. only to see they're even more powerful, more feature-rich, and smaller overall. I've played a bit with the C3 and S3 variants. Nice stuff, would like to use one to reignite my 2G LED tail light controller.. if I could only find the time and the will.
I’m using the Wroom it has more than enough pins plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth which I’m hoping I’ll figure out how to use
( struggling currently) so I can use one of the cores to send/recieve data to another esp32 connected to PC so I can tune more effectively.

I just got into the 32 bit world I’ve mostly worked with the arduinos 8bit and my projects have grown in size and requires faster processing.

I also plan on doing a custom tail light 💡 hopefully in the near future.

I bought this car a few months ago. I saw it on CL for cheap and couldn't believe the condition. There's not a rock chip on the thing, it's perfect.

I spent WAY too much time looking for OEM wheels that had the same bolt pattern, offset, and hub bore. These are stock off a GMC Terrain and I farmed them out one by one on ebay for almost 2 months. Took a gamble on the tire size and I'm pretty happy with the result.

Next I want to do the same trick we do with Montero brakes. The Terrain rotor will obviously fit and is the same size as the C7 at 12.7". So the only hurdle is the caliper. According to a couple forums GM calipers are all pretty much able to bolt on to the knuckles, so I'll be playing around with the GM parts bin again for some large brakes on the cheap. Maybe C7, or some 4pot CTSV?

To my surprise HPtuners does support this car, so it's tempting to do a low budget remote turbo setup. I've been experimenting with adding some e85 to the gasoline and it's been fun messing with the car because I'm kinda on my own. If there's a Grand Am community online I've yet to find it.

Oh man that brings back memories of the old Quad 4.
Now that was a little beastie.

Working on myself for the next while.

Been dealing with terrible back pain for 2 years, it would get better but never really went away. Well 2 weeks ago, it suddenly went away but also took with it the feeling in my right foot and about 50% of its strength. 2 weeks ago I saw my family doctor about it, who booked me for a rush MRI, which was this past Thursday at 8am. The MRI tech told me to return home and wait for a call from my doctor. At 2pm my doctor calls and tells me I need to go back to the hospital and report to the ER asap and they would have all the details. I get there and am admitted right away. I see the doctor shortly after and was told I had a severely herniated disc causing CES and that I need emergency surgery before it progresses any further. It went into the OR at 10:30pm and out at midnight and up to a room shortly after. Friday morning I started with physio, was taught how to get out of bed and get up on my feet without hurting myself and also took my first walk post op. At 3pm I was discharged and on my way home. The whole process went so fast I'm amazed. I've got a long recovery, 8 weeks off work and a max of 10lbs lifting then another 6 months of light duty and max 25lbs lifting but my surgeon is thinking I have a decent chance at a near full recovery. Post op I regained some of the feeling in my foot and he thinks it should get to 90-100% within a year. I had lost about 50% strength in my foot prior and so far, it's the same but he is hoping I should see a good improvement but probably not 100%.

My advice, when something doesn't feel right, get it checked! I just dealt with the back pain for 2 years thinking it was just part of being 40+.

Obviously this means my ambitions with the DSM this year are on hold but it will give me more time to do things even better.

My input on this is different than most. Although I'll never doubt or deny the capabilities of any K series engine, I'm just a stickler for that H series. Perhaps you haven't had a chance to dig into those H or F series blocks much, but with a combination of junkyard hunting and Ebay parts you can easily lay down 250 ft lbs torque with a consistent torque curve. You just can't do that with a K series. I've spent enough time in the dyno shop and watching K20's rev to the moon to get there and yet the torque still falls off before a reasonable shift point. I like having that torque available at 4k rpm. A few years ago when I still used Facebook, I was in the groups that wanted to "K swap the world". But now I'll run a mostly mechanical H series and embarrass them on dyno days.

Oh dude, I am with you 100%.. I wanna say LOL but it’s NOT LOL MATERIAL..!! I did the same thing.. I knew something was whacked in the back area but just dealt with it everyday for a few years.. one day at work I was talking to the owner about a job in SAN Diego and the back of my legs went zing zing bang bang and my legs buckled underneath me..
So here I am looking up at him, still had my bags on, thinking to myself this is it.. ain’t gonna be working down in San Diego for sure, and might not be working anywhere for awhile.. got me to the hospital and went in for xray, was admitted and blah blah blah, but same story.. doctor says that things are not good and surgery is an option but maybe not a good option.. he says I have a ruptured disc in the lumbar area and need a cat scan asap.. this is when the diet of pain pills starts and I had to crawl to the piano to pluck out a middle C.. long story short is I was knocked out of work for good, no surgery (was really bent because I was on track for my first $100,000 year), was only 50, doing very well now @ 66 but sciatica is an everyday thing and sometimes I feel like I have turkeys for feet but at least I can still walk and drive and sometimes get underneath the GST..
Anyway, had giggle at yer post, brought back memories..!!

Somebody ran over my storm drain lid again. It's only been a few months since it was last replaced. I guess my red paint wasn't enough. Time to order a new one on Monday. The whole thing will be red this time.

Best wishes Jason! Hope you have a speedy recovery, my brother n law also just had the same surgery last week for a disc that was pushing on his spinal chord, his post op PT sounds identical to yours in regards to the weight lifting etc, I’m 42 and my lower back is also a problem area, just achy and stiff some mornings, but maybe I’ll get it checked out too if it ever gets worse LOL, take care brotha:dsm:

Managed to get some free hours to spend on the car... (yes a Ford Cosworth engine with A/C is a mess to work on!)

After a bit of a struggle, I got all of the above removed, the bottom pulley gave me a 45 minute hard fight but eventually lost to a slide hammer and a larger guy then me from the shop next door! LOL

As part of the rebuild I am replacing all of the 30 year old hoses. They aren't in a horrendous condition, but they are notoriously hard to reach when the car is all together so while things were apart, I thought I would do some preventative maintenance. Top hose is the 30 year old original, bottom one is a silicon hose but has been made with a matt black OEM style finish to keep the original look.

All this going on while the Eclipse lurks patiently in the corner... waiting for it's time on the ramp...

Good luck with your recovery, Jason...That sounds like some seriously awful shit.

My input on this is different than most. Although I'll never doubt or deny the capabilities of any K series engine, I'm just a stickler for that H series. But now I'll run a mostly mechanical H series and embarrass them on dyno days.
I have not dove into the H/F series enough to know what can be done, but I am all ears on suggestions for a good N/A build. Seems like I always came across great H builds in everything else except Preludes. The real challenge that Ive come across so far is that the ATTS seems to be a road block in terms of getting significant power to the ground. But I havent dove into that particular statement enough to know whether or not it is because people are trying to raise the power but keep the ATTS operational at the same time or whether simply disabling it allows for growth. if disabling doesnt help thing, then the build would have to start off with finding a base model engine/trans and removing ATTS. The Prelude forums can be tough to navigate as there are so many threads that start off well but never get completed with answers.
EDIT: Seems like i doesnt become a problem until 250 torque which would be quite high for a Honda, yeah?

Holy shit dude! I mean, I'm obviously glad to hear you're not paralyzed, but damn, really sorry you're dealing with that. Hopefully recovery is faster than the estimate.

Everyone yells at me and tells me I need to go get checked out. I've had back spasms for YEARS. I'm probably close to 20 years of random spasms.

Ironically when I first started dealing with them I had my 93 Panda. I was constantly in pain, but I got talked into driving 6 hours to a friend's going away party. I thought the drive would be the end of me in a Talon for 300 miles with a hurting back. Somehow after the drive there, and the drive back I felt better for the first time in months.

We've been riding in this truck since 2001 and it finally snapped a connecting rod
Crawling through a pond and a little water got in the airbox somehow. Since water doesn't compress, something had to fail. Unfortunately that was a rod and the bottom half of it punched through the oil pan. I knew the death day was coming but didn't know it would be this way. I was hoping we could burn up the transmission or something. I have videos of water up to the windshield and it never hurt the engine but something must have been wrong with the airbox this time. Ah, the joys (or terrors) of things getting old. I don't want to give up on it but the truck is stuck in the woods and I don't know how deep the damage really is outside of the broken rod and oil pan. We at least know it needs a very expensive tow out and a full rebuild. Even though it's 2am, we're raising a glass to the rough 365k miles that it lived. Hopefully we'll raise another glass soon after recovery and repairs.

Picked up a new daily. ‘18 IS300 with 56k miles. Gave it a good wash and put on some newer Fsport 19s. Thinking to tint the windshield and just enjoy the thing for what it is. It handles and rides so damn well

I will be changing out axles (bad cv joints) and draining the auto trans fluid in my daughter's Corolla while she's on a school trip the next couple weeks... the shifts started getting pretty clunky recently. I did one fluid change already but need to do another, probably change the filter too. HOPEFULLY that helps it.

It's that time of year when everyone needs lawn equipment repaired. I currently have 2 blowers, a pressure washer and 2 chainsaws. This has all been dropped off since Monday. Last week alone I made over $500 profit from fixing stuff like this. Not to mention the boxes of scrap aluminum, brass and copper that I'm able to add the old parts to. This is a great side hustle and my demand & customer base gets larger every year. Great extra income for most months of the year. Before Solomon's Automotive came along, I almost had an LLC set up for Solomon's Small Engine Repair. It just dies down from Novemeber until March, and I needed something profitable year round. I still run things though.

Anybody else doing this kind of stuff, or too tied up with the full time gig? There's plenty of DSM parts to be purchased if you can keep up all season long. My lack of ability to sleep seems to pay off.

Today I get a 1993 Suzuki GSX R that needs restoring. It's been a while since I played with bikes, so this will be a grand reintroduction for me. I can't wait to hear this thing scream. Engines that rev this high are far and few outside of the bike world.
