1G SMIC Upgrades?

Do you know if that kit fits the stock bov? I see it comes with one (no way that’s being used) but it also looks like it has two sets of bolt holes for the bov.
It's a greddy style flange. You would have to get the adaptor and you could install a 1g BoV.

I’ve seen them like the fmic kits where they have a 1g style flange drilled for the stock bov or a Greddy style. Wouldn’t surprise me to see them made both ways.

Yea I was hoping that's what it was. Looks like it honestly. Might actually give that kit a shot. I was able to find a old school upgraded side mount recently.

1G SMIC is not that too small. So actually it would work just fine with a 16g. If you want the stock looking but want to lower the inlet air temp more, maybe water spray to intercooler or water/methanol injection also could be your options. Those would significantly lower the inlet air temp.
I used to ran the JZA80 Supra SMIC, it obviously cooled better than the 1G factory SMIC and it was really cheap (I don't know nowadays). But one negative thing was it's wider/thicker so it would push the bumper to outside a little bit due to limited space.

Supra SMIC and 1G factory SMIC with a small fan.

10"x11"x2.75". Off a 300zx?

The one that was being sold on here has been sold he told me.

The ones in the picture I posted I found on marketplace. $200 for both of them.

No thoughts on this?

No go on the oem 3000gt ICs just to add to this. We used to use old DSM stockers as an upgrade. I came from 3si so just didn’t want anyone to buy one hoping it was an upgrade. Td04s are super tiny compared to td05s.
I was referring to aftermarket options. Since no one sells aftermarket DSM side mounts, I thought something like this would be a possible option. @Bigmike4g63t just posted about Z32 cores. I think this is a good option for staying side mount.

The upgrade that I did to my White 90 GSX was this hard piping kit made for the sidemount. It would work with a Supra IC also, I believe, but I have not been able to find one for sale yet.

Here’s the one I was able to score. Still needs cleaned up but gives you an idea. If you need measurements of the core or anything, let me know.

1g BOV with the "dodge garage mod" will hold any PSI you throw at it and will behave exactly like factory. No adjustments, flutter, nothing.
Had one of those too. Still leaked and it closed so slow on low boost it would whistle. Shrug, they're clearly working for you but I'm still a ways off from recommending them.

I’ve never had a problem or seen a problem when done right however it’s a crap shoot when you start modifying on anything. I will vouch I’ve seen Dodge modded stock bov’s hold pretty high boost on big turbo cars making a lot of power, and the same ones come stock on the r35’s and I’ve seen a handful of those guys go pretty far with them, also I don’t know if they still do but back when the Turbonetics Hellion kit first came out and was all the rage for the v8 crowd in the mid 2000s they also included stock 1g/r35 bov’s (was so awkward back then seeing 1g bov’s on v8 cars). Not saying they’re the best thing in the world but it’s what I’d still be using if my current ETS uicp hasn’t come already set up for the v band style. I will say my $34 shipped Chinese Tial knockoff has worked just as well ever since.

I run a plain ole 1g that has been crushed. I hold 32 lbs of boost on a MBC mounted IN the car. On one run, 2 days ago, I spiked to 39 lbs. It has held 44 in the past. I may just be lucky.

You are in a difficult position. I have a car similar to yours except it is a GST not a GSX. It is now a 16G car and it absolutely will not work on the stock sidemount. It requires a front mount. With a good tube and fin FMIC, you should still achieve good flow to the AC condenser and the radiator. You will however see a FMIC, if that is a deal breaker, then you need to start working with someone on a custom SMIC solution. Even then you are probably going to be boost limited on pump gas. No matter what, this setup will require something like ECMLink and a wideband.

If you have access to E85, that is a game changer. You will still be limited, but you could actually make a custom SMIC work in the summer, realistically.

Are we saying holding as in you can still build 40 in the pipe, or holding as in it doesn't even crack open? The former just makes the turbo work harder than it needs to.

I think it’s definitely the way some are crushed. Too far or off center and the valve won’t properly seat. I have one that leaks and one that doesn’t. Speaking of, do any of you guys have an old school Dejon stop leak kit for a 1g bov? Been trying to find info regarding how the vac lines are routed for it.
