I was looking in a magazine and they said that Pacesetter made a header for the turbo. Does anyone know about the quality or performance of the header?

Well, on that thread one had it crack, one didnt..

I think if you just buy it and slap it on as-is.. you may have probs.. but if you do like suggested and have the welds beefed up a little it might actually be a pretty deacent deal..

im considering.. one..

and like they said.. with a 3 year warranty.. the worst thing that can really happen is you send it back and get a refund..

me and my brother put a set of these on his car and so far they are doing ok. we are haeing an unrelated problem with the wastegate but there is no leaks from the header and it is all runnin fine

Yeah honestly. Thats like a salesman coming up to a customer looking at a Kia and saying "Why don't you just buy a Jaguar?"

Mild steel is very suitable for a turbo manifold. If it's welded properly, heat releived and shot peened it works just fine. Everybody knows South Florida Performance SFP? Their manifolds are nice and lots of people use them with great results right? They are mild steel, mig and tig welded, and shot peened and they offer a no haggle 5 year warranty on them. So built properly mild steel is just fine. With great cast manifolds available like the turbonetics unit that flows really well with porting why bother with a tubular manifold anyway?

Here is a shot of that header I took at SEMA. This one is also ceramic coated.

Sure that header is the sexiest piece of machinery to hit your engine bay since the turbo sitting next to it. But again, $120 vs. $500 isn't a very tough decision. You could beaf up the welds and then send it to FFWD to have it connected! even get it ceramic coated to keep your fans from melting. Look here at FFWD's site. Go to "Cryogenic Strengthening."

DNP Header: 495

Pacesetter Header: 120
FFWD Connected!: 50
FFWD Ceramic Coat: 100
Beefy Welds: 0-?

Also, just to make sure...7cm right?

From what I hear the Pacesetter spools slower than a cast Mitsubishi. And I've never heard of a HP improvement either. Just compare the length of #3 and #4 runners. If your cast manifold is cracked either get another one or spend $300 more and get a DNPerformance manifold. I just don't see spending money on a manifold unless it gives better performance.

Yup.... your post it consistent with the cheap dsm owner mentality. Buy the cheapest crap on the market bi*** about the price of *quality* parts. Then weld spray and Jerry rig your $120 Bullishit to work right?

No thanks I don't buy into that mentality SORRY. Ill pay a little more for properly built products for my car everytime.

1) If you honestly think that a 120 dollar exhaust manifold will be a good deal; well, that just says it right there.

2) It's made by Pacesetter, the name that is synonymous with C-R-A-P. Can anyone actually name a product by Pacesetter that's been a high quality piece, and not some ghetto throw-together weld project that can be done by yourself with much better results?

I'm not saying you have to go spend 2 g's on some custom fabricated Jun/HKS/Super JDM tooner unit for your specific turbo application that's made of titanium, has the ultimate performance, blah blah blah, but 500 dollars for a very well made consumer manifold is de-facto.

I would probably buy a 0-2 eliminator downpipe long before a $500 manifold.. bigger gaines for less cost.. no sense in having a bitchin manifold if the air still has to be squirted through a small stock 02 housing.

yes, actually i can tell you one Item that they make thats good quality! LS1 Longtube headers!!!! we compared them to the hooker headers we put on my buddies car (both bought em at the same time) and mine had better welds than the hooker manifolds!!!!!! everyone told me they would be crap but it turns out to be one of the best bang for the bucks out there in the ls1 world :D :D :thumb:

i've had em on for 3 1/2 months now with no rust problems at all

Well, I dont know about everyone else, but I sure ass hell dont have money comming out the yin yang, so I dont have 600 bones to spend on some exaust flow. Hell, I have a car that runns mid 12's all day, and for the whole freakin 250$ that I got in it (including car) I would say I know what the hell is going on. I have a alot of bills to pay for, so I am on a tight budget like a lot of folks out their.
Anyways, the biggest question is, how does the ting flow? Beefing up the weld will be no problem, but the collecter, which I will most likely re-design befor I install it, looks like the big restriction. I have heard more good than bad in terms of gains from install, most gains vs. a ported 2g manifold. So anyone with it on the car like to step up to the plate?
