A friend has a stock fmic off his srt4 and was wondering if it would be a good upgrade for a 1g dsm I can pick this up almost free...

just about any fmic is gonna be better than what you have plus i think the srts have a 16g and run like 14-16 psi so im sure the IC is decent for a good set up

if its almost free, definetly take it. I know for certain they can hold 20 PSi, probably more. They are pretty big too. Anything is better then the stock side-mount tho! Anyway, the SRT4s have a weird turbo, a little smaller then a 16G, I think its actually called a TD04-15G, dont quote me on that tho.

Yah i think im definitly gonna try it... it looks like a nice core... and has to flow alot better than the stock smic

Use the search engine for posts on the EVO 8 FMIC. Last I heard it wasn't getting raved about and was like the SRT-4, a good deal if was free or super cheap. The one thing you have to watch when mounting a FMIC from another vechicle is 1) How are you going to mount it. 2) How are you going to have to change the side tanks to get it to work or is there a way to get creative with your piping so that it works and flows efficiently.

I put a "FMIC" from a Porsche on a buddies 1g and it was such a huge pain and since the thing is around 5 inches thick it's still wants to heat soak the first time you slow down.

I'm thinking that it probably isn't much if any better than the stock SMIC. Let us know how you like it..

i dont think there would be a problem with doing that. the piping comes out of the back and you have to make sure the piping clears everything before doing it.

Sure you can. I'm going to be using an srt 4 fmic. My buddy is getting a bigger fmic for his srt 4. So I'm getting his. You can use any fmic with your car. Some will fit better then others. Mostly all will require trimming of the bumper on the inside, may even need to take the fog lights out. You will need to do customer piping though for the srt4 intercooler.

:thumb: Thats a proper reply.

now the srt-4 intercooler is not a bad intercooler anything to produce a cooling of the inlet temps. is not a bad way to go. so i would go for it. have some piping made for the charge pipe and upper/lower pipings and your set. :thumb:

im sure that its better than most smics you can find... although an evo 8 fmic would be easier because i saw a thread on here a while back and the guy said he had to modify the core ends and piping to get it to work... i might even have the pic still... yes i do!!!

edit: wow that took me like 10 tries cuz the file was "too big" even though i got it off a thread in this site.. whatever...if you want the original pm me...

wow that thing is tiny.

:tease:

Well its definetly no 26x12x3 hehe. Those size fmic's are usualloy only good for 350whp, anything more than that you're going to have to go with a taller core for more cooling surface.

Just For the record....
This is the thread

2 3/4" x 5 3/4" x 24" that is the core size

It cost me 50$ to get all that weld together......

Yes it is tiny! :coy: (I am about to buy a bigger one in Ebay, but it does the job)

More pics....(since My page is down....)

is it possible to install a srt4 fmic without having to get the end tanks modified and does anyone have any pics or tips for me to install it on my 95 eclipse?

my fog light are already removed just wanna get all the info needed before i attempt the install and is it possible to do the install with radiator hose and pics again please if u got some thanks

Anything is possible. What you need do is measure the length of the fmic and see if it's not too long or too short. The next thing will be is to get the piping kit for the 2g fmic because the srt-4 piping is different because the motor is turned totally differnent. Meaning by that is the turbo and exhaust manifold is facing the fire wall and the intake manifold is facing the nose of the car.

Just a word of advice... the FMIC is one of the first things SRT-4 owners upgrade. It has a relatively small core and is easily outflowed; so unless you got it for free and you're just installing it temporarily, I would advise against this whole project. You'd be better off with a $100-$200 intercooler core in eBay. Johnny Race Car would also be a good choice (once they finally get their website back up).

I just got an srt4 intercooler for my 1st gen. Now I dont have my condenser, But all I had to do is trim the inside core to clear the inlet and outlet. No big deal. Took about 10 min. Even bolted up using the stock intercooler mounting tabs. Looking to buy a piping kit to work out the routing of the pipes. Any suggestions?

When my brother started modifying his SRT4 one of the first things to go was the puny front mount. I know you can modify the end tanks to ease the installation into a 1G, but honestly it isn't worth it. If you can modify the end tanks yourself and you get the intercoolie for free then by all means go for it, but if you have to pay anything to run that intercooler I'd think of your options first. Just my .02

Im going to run a cryo2 spray on the fmic, and a bulb in the pipe right before the T/B. I think for what im wanting to run it will be just fine. Im not trin to get all out H/P. Just enough to have some fun at the time trials.
