I am ready to give up my home made mbc. Does anyone know of a really good MBC, minimal to no boost spike?

I have the Hallman Pro (not RX) and am very pleased with it. The install is very simple, as long as the idea of hooking up vacuum lines doesn't intimidate you. The RX uses a ceramic ball, which responds faster than the regular Pro model. The drawback, however, is that it is only designed to raise boost levels up to around 5 psi above the turbo wastegate actuator setting. As an example, the 16G factory wastegate opens at 8 psi, meaning you would be limited to ~13 psi with this controller. If you ever plan on raising boost beyond that, opt for the regular Pro MBC.

P.S. Why are you asking about this if you already have it in your mod list?

i have a t25 and wont be going higher than 15 whats the max it could go on a t25?

(Leaning tords buying it right now)

Hah, that's the exact vendor I bought my Hallman from. Someone's going to have to help me out on the stock actuator pressure for the T25, as I can't remember it at the moment. If your long term plans don't include a larger turbo at some point, and you're just looking to make 15 psi on the T25, I believe you'll be alright with the RX. Honestly though, if there's a price difference between the two, I would go with the less expensive one.

I have the RX MBC, and it comes with a Ceramic Ball that is lighter and said to react faster than the SST ball that comes in the Pro.
With the Ceramic ball, you'll be able to make finer adjustments more accurately.
They both come with extra springs that are heavier for higher boost applications.

Not completely correct. Yes, the RX has a spring that only allows to raise boost up around 5 psi. BUT the kit comes with a heavier spring, which allows for alot more boost. I have the heavier spring in now.

Hmmm, perhaps just the RX kit comes with the heavier spring then. So my original point is moot. Oh well.

I also have the normal hallman pro, works just as it should. I didnt get the extra spring either so it must just be with the RX.

So, tonight I took it apon my self to make my own mbc according to a write-up I found here, and the darn thing works rather well.
Still, even before the install, I am having some boost creeping issues, after the 3" turbo back. I have the mbc set to about 14, but slowly creeps past 16-17psi mark after about 5500rpm's.
So, I was doing a little searching here on the forums, and was reading that maybe a ported o2 housing will help the wastegate flow better. I had this upgrade planned, looks to be sooner than later. Also, do you think an external wastegate on the stock 14b will give me a better advantage to holding 14-15psi straight through the rpm's? Just looking to eliminate this creep problem, so I DON'T burst my poor engine into a million pieces....although a 2.3 would be nice :)

Thanks for any replies.

I was intrigued by this thread, i was looking to buy to buy one of these boost controllers, since im on a tight budget. I have 2 questions. How much more boost can I put with either one of these ?, and How much boost can a T25 hold and/or put out ?

I will be eventually running around 16 pounds, maybe high but for now i want to keep it at 15 pounds. Looking for a decent MBC to buy, price is not really an issue. But i dont want to spend an arm and a leg.

I got a super cheap one off of ebay. they have them in blue and red. I think it said something like in cabin boost controller. It seems to hold the boost pretty well.

This Joe P MBC has been proven over and over and over again for years and years and years. Let's just say it's a good solid investment. ;)
