I was looking in a magazine and they said that Pacesetter made a header for the turbo. Does anyone know about the quality or performance of the header?

pacesetter = bad

no personal experience but do a search and you will not find anyone that has actually purchased parts from that company (and used them for more than a couple weeks [break-in time]) who has good things to say about their products.

eg: i remember one thread where the person was talking about how he had to re-drill the bolt-holes for the header cause it didn't match up - WHOOPS!

eg2: i remember another thread where the header bought was painted and (of COURSE) by the time he got the car home from the shop where it was installed (which its really not that hard to do it yourself) the paint was completely burned off.

eg3: ANOTHER thread i've seen was something to do with the cat-back needing to have hangers welded on because the ones that came with it didn't fit right and when it finally did get on it sounded like a$$

this list could go on and on i'm sure - IMO don't buy pacesetter - its cheap for a reason

i heard some people dawgin the pacesetter headears...why are they so bad...jsut wondwerin

yes, yes go with the ceramic coated hp racing 4-2-1 header. u can get it off of www.nopi.com. 4-2-1 is better for non turbo, and theyre not bad quality either. i say dont even waste your time with a 4-1 header. the 350-500 you're gonna spend just aint worth the +2 hp gain you're gonna get and the -2 tourque. yes i said -.:dsm:

i got the pacesetter. deffinate pos. im thinkin stainless.anyone know where to get stainless headers for a 1g.

bushur racing makes a header for the nt dsm cars..right now u can get the header and a 2.5" downpipe from www.machv.com i have always trusted bushur and alot of the ppl i know with dsm cars r happy with bushur racing for the header and downpipe your looking at i think around 5-600

when i ported my pacesetter header i went a little bigger than the gasket. will this kill me in the long run or will it be ok. if it will screw me can i fix it to match the gasket.

i used a friends dremel. i had a polishing kit from when i cleaned up my valve cover and i went to the local hardware store i used to work at and got a bit that would do wel on metal. i used a bit made for ceramic tile and it ate right through the metal with some patience. then when i was done grinding it all down i went over it with a polishing wheel to clean it all up and smooth it all out. wasnt terribly difficult just took some time. it came out pretty good just wish i payed a little more attention and ported it to match the gasket.

I just recently put Pacesetter Header on my car, and was wondering if anyone knew about how much hp you get out of them, i really dont have access to a dyno cuz i dont feel like paying for it. but if anyone has any idea it dosnt even have to be pacessetter, headers are headers should be about the same gains , so if you have any information let me know.

not a whole lot unless you got other mods too. Did you port the runners on the header? There's a guy here (xyphno) that dyno'd his car with the pacesetter set up ( from head back) and with an intake and got 17hp

Does anyone with a pacesetter header have a problem with the exhaust system rattling? I was told that front wheel drive cars need a flexible section in the exhaust to absorb the movement of the engine and prevent the exhaust from moving around. I noticed that our cars come stock with one (in front of the cat I think), and that several headers for our cars have them (Hotshot does I think), but the pacesetter does not. Therefore, has anyone had a problem with this, or did you weld in a flexible section while installing the header?

I dont have pacesetter but I did have greddy and they have a flex point but I still had a rattling noise come to find out it was just a lose heat shild so that might be it. and I would suggest getting a flex point so in the long run you dont end up cracking your header.

Where would you suggest I put the flex section? I was thinking that I could take the stock flex section and put it where the cat would be. Or could I have it "inserted" into the downpipe of the header?
