I was looking in a magazine and they said that Pacesetter made a header for the turbo. Does anyone know about the quality or performance of the header?

That was with many other mods done before though. If I remember correctly he had all other bolt-ons + more except for a header. Putting a header on a stock engine will net you probably around 4 or 5 peak HP, but will give you more useable power through your power band.
 
I recently had a 2.5" installed after the stock header and downpipe and now I get a whistle when I accelerate Not quite what I wanted! Probably need a 2.25" or 2" length doesn't really matter though
 
i have a rattle but not from the exhausts, i blew my old pacesetter cat into smithereins and now i have a chunk stuck in my muffler. it just gives me a reason to buy the n1 muffler:laugh:
 
on the 2g nt i got the pacesetter it friggin blows, it came with a ball and socket type of joint that moves to the car, I want to cut that piece out and add a flex pipe oh and the othe thing is where the ball and socket joint is on the headers in friggin rubs the axle!!! hopefully i come up with some extra dough to pay some smuck with a welder to do it for me.
 
i have the ball joint also and mine doesnt rub. i find it to be a very shatty design though. they should have made it with a stainless flex section like you said. i was thinking about putting one in mine with my buddys welder. i also want to hack off the pacesetter muffler and weld a apexi n1 to the piping.
 
All I have to say is - you get what you pay for. Pacesetter is cheap cause they have cheap stuff. I had pacesetter headers before I started the turbo upgrade on my car. The gasket joining the bottom half of the headers and the top half blew about a week after I had them installed and so anytime I would shift at or around 5k RPMs it would almost sound like a weak BOV because the exhaust would swoosh out of the sides. IMO - buy headers that cost a little more because you will get better quality
 
i havent had that gasket problem at all. i do some real hard shifts at about 6500rpm and mines fine. my only concern is the ball joint. i dont need that leaking, mine work great now that i ported them out. but like you said they ARE cheap
 
I had the same problem as kagegod...had to get the local muffler shop to make me a few gaskets to replace the one I blew out. The reason this happened on my car was because the header didn't line up right with the rest of the exhaust work...Pacesetter sucks don't buy their crap. If anyone out there has the pacesetter and thinks they're having problems with the ball-type joint, you can get up under the car on a chilly day and see the exhaust fumes running out of it-and it's not a personal problem those bolts are tight! I think I could have made a better header myself. Conclusion: you get what you pay for and you didn't pay too much.
 
my ball joint is damn tight. i wonder if it leaks. i think i may just change it soon. pacesetter does suck man. the owner should be shot. but then again, who else makes this setup for these cars that isnt really expensive. guess you have to take the good with the bad
 
I don't have any rattling problems, but that DAMN Downpipe flange gasket blows out all the damn time.

I've heard their products are of high quality. I do believe they custom make all of their parts. Check them out if you decide to change headers. I think the 4G63 header is around $280. Later.

if you go to google and look up "dsm stuff" theres a guy who makes a 2 1/4 header back exhaust for the 1g n/t dsm. its full stainless and he makes it himself. i forget what muffler he uses.

also extreme motorsports has a downpipe/headr combo for the 1g n/t. buschur racing used to make one also but i think they were discountinued.
 
I just installed the pacesetter header on my GS and went from running 17.5's to hitting a 16.8. I don't think a header will make that much of a difference but I do feel like it has helped on the top end....Pacesetter may be cheap but I sure can't afford anything else and so far it seems like it is working just fine.....my only question is...why is my back bumper now turning black by my muffler.......it didn't do that before the header install and now it is just putting out more exhaust??? or something...i dunno....
 
yah my car would run that too if i lived in new jersey......the freakin air here in West Texas Sucks and the Altitude is higher.......your probably closer to sea level and the air is good there......i know that there is a lot of difference from place to place...
 
damn 16.2. im at least in the high 14's with mine. i want to get low 13's to high 12's with my stroker motor.
 
k&n filter, injen intake, pacesetter ported header, 2 1/2 in test pipe from racepipes.com, pacesetter cat back. dont forget i have a 1g, the 1g n/t 5 spd tranny has some short gears in it. i raced like 4 2g n/t's and spanked them everytime
 
thats hard to believe 14s??

the car ony has 5 less hp then mine.... and on top of that i never heard of injen makin intakes for non turbo 1g...

i live in nj.. why dont we meet and race my eclipse with just intake and exhaust ... ill bet you ill beat you runnin 15.7 at the track
 
flat out, read first before you post. injen makes like the best intake for the 1g n/t and its damn good. second if my trans didnt go id come to where you are(to save you gas) and spank your 2g. i eat 2g n/t' for breakfast and nowi m puttin in a stroker bottom end. sorry dude not being a dick but you dont have a chance.

i doubt my cars gonna be fixed by then because i hae no loot, but i thnk im gonna start whoring myself on the corner fr extra loot. I ANT MY CAR BACK:laugh:

in other news......... i know a lil about what NA is building, its gonna be killer, hes not bluffing, trust me, its been taking up the last month of his life, LOL. you guys should defianly race, but hes probably gonna need a month or so to finish up. are you closer to atco or E town? shotgun winner!!;)
