Sean, I also am wondering where you got the driveshaft loop from -- I need one, and that one looks like a nice fit!

That driveshaft looks SWEET!

Either respond in this thread, or shoot me a PM so I can get the information and pick one up!

Thanks,

Tim Zimmer

The loop was custom made by a user named eagle claw on the link forums(not sure if he's on here or not) a buddy of mine from New York picked it up off him and I guess didn't have any use for it and I had a perfect spot for it right under neath this bad boy and as you see it's like it was made for it. THe other guy(eagle claw) was running DSS 3.5 shaft so that's why it fits so nice. Not sure what he used to make it but it's extra heavy duty yet not heavy and is so easy to install.

I know everyone was busting my balls for putting the cams in before I got the rest of the parts so I thought I would throw these up so everyone knows that the rest of the parts made their way in just fine ;)

I also don't know how I got this lucky but I found a guy who was willing to trade a knife edged crank for my stock 6 bolt crank. It isn't done like the ffwd cranks but I think it will work great considering I wouldn't want to take too much off anyway with high boost and power levels that I'm reaching for.

How much did the ACPT driveshaft weigh?

Crank needs to be turned.. and I'd def get it balanced

Thw crank was looked at by a second machinist and it was done by a guy who knows his stuff. I will have the whole rotating assembly balanced at once so that wl be cool to. Whatever the crank will need it will get when the block gets machined

The crank looks much better in person and I'm even more assured that it will be just fine for my setup. Probably even more so then a fully butchered crank.

And I took one step back to take two steps forward today too. I traded my AEM EMS unit for cash and a set of brand new Wiseco 1400hd pistons 9:1 with a 22mm pin. So now I can finally take the pistons to the machine shop and get this block bored out and machined. Now I just have to make my mind up on rods and I"m golden

Could you pm me the price for that driveshaft, just curious.

No need to be private about it brand new they go for $9-$1100 for the ones that just take up the front two sections like the one commonly sold by DSS and for this kind the 1pc version it's $17-$1900. I didn't pay that much but that's how much they cost

That's right! sell that aem bull since you have v3 link. The link nazis are happy:). . . Looks good sean. Get the crank in the car so you can go down the road :) I'm really excited for you. Keep pushing.

WOW Nice build Sean. Glad to see you are doing this, good for you :thumb:

Ed

Thanks Ed. Hope everything is going good for ya up in North Jersey. I will def bring the car up your way when it's done.

Yeah anyone that thinks you have to be a master to build a nice car Ed will tell you not long ago at all my first talon was at his house because I didn't want to risk doing certain things back when I first got into dsm's because I wasn't familiar with the platform enough. Now the only stuff I really need help with is machine work and welding.

Small update. I actually got the COP and the pistons a couple days ago but my internet was down but anyway now you can see how close I am to finally getting this motor done and in.

Yeah def bring it up and show me when you get it running. Everything is going good with me. I am out of DSM's (for now) I am into VW's right now. Just shaved my MK3 Jetta engine bay and got it back together a couple week's ago. Took it to waterfest at e-town this past sunday and took home 1st place in my class at the car show. I am def happy taking a break from racing and just relaxing at the car show's. Ofcoarse racing has always been my first choice and I will pick up a project car to build just not sure what I want. Well good talking to you, good luck with the rest of your build it is def looking like it is going in the right direction.

Ed

Are you still going stroker? because these are stroker pistons... regular Wiseco HD have black teflon coating on the side with the "W" symbol..

Nope these are regular 1400 pistons for a 2.0. They were custom ordered by the guy I picked them up off of and he had the coating put on the side straight from wiseco. I have the sheet at home I can take a picture of when I get home.

Running yet Sean? Mine is :) Dont hate on the auto!!!!!!!!!!

Running yet Sean? Mine is :) Dont hate on the auto!!!!!!!!!!

Lol yeah yeah. But i'm not even at the point where it matters because the motor isn't done so auto or 5spd I'd be at the same spot. My second job, read play money, picks up in a month so I will be picking up the pace again. I need to pick up the rods obviously and the balancer and QM clutch so I can get the whole rotating assembly balanced and get the block bored hot tanked and line honed for the arps. After that the long block will be complete and in the car. Since I'm not taking her to the shootout no big rush to do anything so I'm making sure I take care of all the odds and ends now rather than later.

Yeah, I hear ya on the play money. I doubt if I make the S/O at all. Things are tight these days. I hope to track the car this weekend, maybe I can break into the 13's. ;) Get this thing going man, I wanna see some vids!!! Any small stuff you need? I'd be happy to "pay it fwd" to get shit outta my way.

Thanks. I really don't need much small shit. Then again most small shit isn't planned you just go shit I need that. A lot of stuff I get from believe it or not the dealer cause I work in wholesale autoparts so I get basic stuff from there because one it's new and two I don't have to pay shipping.

As soon as I get money I will be making a WTB ad because I need some stock stuff that you can't get from the dealer anymore but I want in good working condition.

Another thing I want to add, I have heard other people talk about their builds and one member, who I think things have calmed down with atleast they have on my end, compared my shell and his shell this thing had NOTHING when I bought it. It had no engine no trans a used transfercase that needed a rebuilt, rusted front axles no interior, stock wheels and one bad tire and the bumpers weren't on. Some guys, not you because I know you understand Donnie, ask me like why is the build taking so long well that's because it's a BUILD not a soup up job. Like when you start with a running car and you upgrade some main parts to go faster that to me isn't a build. I showed pictures the whole way so people can see the difference and how much little shit goes into starting from scratch.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a universal DS kit from Summit Racing that looks to be the same as this.
