After reading another newer members build thread and seeing that other people were not only following this but actually taking note to some of the stuff I was doing I had to set a better example so I will not be bringing the car this year to the shootout because rushing a build is not the way to go and I want the car to be 100% when I unleash her. I will still be there but the goal for the car is the 2010 shootout.

Updates to come real soon !!!

Anyway enough talk back to the pictures :)

Cams installed now I just need for my 3rd gen lifters to get in and I'll throw the rollers on and i'm set. I wasn't going to get adjustable cams but seems like bc288's perform better when you advance and retard the intake and exhaust cam by 2* so that's another thing to add to the list.

I don't know if you guys caught it but I pulled a rookie move and had the thermal gasket on backwards LOL. I switched it up now but when I first got the new head I just threw everything on real quick for a pic and wasn't even paying attention. I had a nice laugh at my expense LOL

Just curious why you would put the cams in now and not wait till you get the lifters? Just seems like some unnecessary work.

If your read the vfaq about changing lifters you can change the lifters and rollers without taking the cams out and that's with them torqued down. All I did was hand tighten them. That and I was bored and wanted to see what they looked like installed. Worst case I spend another 5 minutes taking the caps off no big deal.

That's what I figured but wasn't sure.

A word of advice, if you end up taking the cams back out to put them in make sure to tighten each cam cap bolt no more then a couple of turns at a time so they can all work against the valve spring pressure together. I have broke one cam cap bolt due to tightening it too much before tightening the rest.

love the build man...good luck keep us posted!

now for my dumb question of the day...in the picture of your head with the intake mani on it whats that black box with the lines running to it for?

Is the IM/TB setup Jake hahnhart's old setup?I remember he had something very similar to that.Looking good so far

Yes, it is Jake's old SMIM and ITB setup.

The "black box" is a Golden Eagle brand vacuum distribution block with -4AN lines running to each of the individual throttle bodies, along with ports for the rest of the vehicle vacuum ports used.

If people are interested in running a vacuum distribution block, or vacuum manifold...the easiest and cheapest way is to get one for your specific application with however many number of ports or inlet/outlet diameters, etc. from McMaster-Carr.

McMaster-Carr - Vacuum Manifold

If you want to spec out a different surface finish or other parameters, here is the link:
McMaster-Carr - Aluminum Vacuum Manifold Main Menu

They are half the price of the golden eagle one, and are exactly the same.

There you go!

i figured it was for the vaccuum just wasnt sure whats its point was...thanks for the info

Exactly as twick said this is Jake's old ITB one off smim. I it performs like Jake told me this thing will surprise a lot of people with how fast it spools. The vacuums lines go to each runner to the afpr and to the BOV.

ONE DAY AWAY !!!!!!! I think this is def one of the coolest things I have seen when it comes to dsm's. TEASER PIC!!! :sneaky:

Hey ive been following the build, its coming along, like your determination. My motto never give up and it seems youre going foward not looking back. Great work.

Thanks yeah I'm just looking forward to the big pieces going in because then the car will start to come together big time. Next I know I been saying it forever now it seems but I have to make up my dam mind on my bottom end and just do it. Once the bottom end is done the long block will go in and then I save up for a little so I can get the transmission/transfercase setup I want. that is where the bulk of the money left to spend will go. It will probably cost about 4k to finish the drive train. That's a straight cut full dogbox trans built transfercase with bigger output and raxle front race axles. Then it's smooth sailing :)

ACPT Carbon Fiber One piece Driveshaft:hellyeah::hellyeah::hellyeah:
STage 5 DSS rear axles(GREAT condition 4 bolt rear with LSD will do just fine :thumb:)
DSS built transfercase(STill need)

Great build. I have a few questions. Where did you get the driveshaft loops? Regarding the transfer case, I thought shep was the only one that made an upgraded case? Do you plan on reinforcing the rear end to handle all that power? Once again, great build.

Sean, I also am wondering where you got the driveshaft loop from -- I need one, and that one looks like a nice fit!

That driveshaft looks SWEET!

Either respond in this thread, or shoot me a PM so I can get the information and pick one up!

Thanks,

Tim Zimmer
