Is it me or does it look like the bottom of the bumper is squished at the bottom? Thinner than the top?

I really like the look with the lip though!

it looks stretched at the bottom in one side, you still need to cut the bumper more to fix that.

what your seeing is a wheel that is turned, and yes all the bumpers taper a little narrower , bad camera angle is all that is.

def looks as though the bumper needs shaved in some areas to fix that squished look. Thats exactly how mine looked when the front bumper wasnt cut enough for the front mount. On your setup it maybe the IC pipes or FMIC causing that or even the 240 lip having a different bend then the 2gb bumper.

That should be 95-96 or "zenki" S14. Only the SE models got the lip.

I have a Supra side-mount IC that I will be mounting soon and want to open up the side inlets on my stock front bumper like this:

The ultimate goal is to have something like the pic below. It would be nice to just buy an aftermarket one and be done but because clearance is so tight with the Supra ic, I have to have flat sides. So far, all of the aftermarket bumpers that look nice and have the correct opening like this for the ic have sides with vent, spoilders, etc that take up critical space.

Also, if I ended up with and aftermarket I don't want a crazy combat style front. I want something stockish, slightly agressive is ok but I need flat sides for IC clearance. I really do like this "Drift" from VFiber except for the sides make it a no-go.

Do you have any suggestions on how to approach modifying the stock opening? I've thought about midifying the sides of the "Drifter" front bumper but that seems like an even bigger task than opening up the stock bumper.
I was thinking of maybe cutting out the section circled in red, inserting something like a piece of cardboard in the correct shape, and then laying the drywall glass tape around it along with the Fusion 142 in layers.

Edit:
I have another idea.
In the picture below, what if I put some foam to take up the space in red (to be removed later) so the side is almost flat. Then do a few layers of the mesh and Fusion 142 on top and allow to fully cure.
Next, from the back of the bumper grind down the vents and foam. Then apply more layers of mesh and Fushion 142 on the backside to make it a solid piece.

I have actually changed my bumper into somehing similar to what you have shown, I have lost my camera so i don't have pics yet, I'll see if i can figure a way out to show you how to do it.
p.s. always start from the backside when modifing a bumper.

Please yes, if you can get some pic's and how you did yours I would really appreciate. I've been unable to sleep at night over this.. Well ok, not really, but I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to approach this with the best chance of success.

You can see by the Diamond this is the same OE bumper I modified, Thanks to my wifes phone i have pics. In my case i plan on running my transmission cooler off the R side, and the oil cooler onthe L side. If I ever go with a cutout exhaust it's right their ready.

Keeles you are the man! Somehow I missed this thread but I REALLY dig the bumper on the black car. GREAT body work and design my friend. It may be simple, but a lot of the time the simpler a design the cooler it ends up being. Inspiration for my build!!!
