1G No starter, no seatbelts, no passenger window, no radio

Hello! Recently I painted my 1g eclipse GS-T and when I got the car back a lot of things weren’t working. I could not start the car from normal key turning but the car will run and drive fine if I run a wire directly from the starter signal to the battery. I checked every fuse, relays, and normal engine bay grounds and nothing is out of the ordinary. Considering that the seatbelts do not work, specifically the passenger window stopped working and the radio I’m assuming there’s a short somewhere or maybe an open circuit? Anyone know where this might be before i start taking things apart? They had to take off the front clip when painting but I’m not sure if there is a ground in the front past the headlights that would do that. Is there a relay that the seatbelts and the radio are interlinked with?

I don't think the radio and seatbelts are linked. There's only like three things that control the seatbelts.

1) Door Latch Switch. Inside your door, attached to the latching mechanism is a metal switch that sees if the door is open or closed.

2) Seatbelt control unit - it's a ECU looking thing bolted right next to the driver's side seatbelt motor.

3) Seatbelt Relay - Relay on the actual seatbelt motor itself, sees a signal from the seatbelt control unit that powers the relay on or off


If the seatbelts and all this stuff aren't working, then a power wire or ground wire got cut. I'm sure they share grounds and possibly power wires, so best you can do is consult the FSM(factory service manual) for some wiring diagrams and test procedures so you can trace the wires and see where the problem is. If they took the entire front clip off though, I'd guess they probably ripped off or disconnected a bunch of ground or wires.

But from what I remember the seatbelts get all their grounds from the actual mounting points of the seatbelt rails. So it's gotta be a power wire or fuse block issue.

okay ill try to look into a power issue to the fuse panel then. Seems like that could be the immediate answer. Thank you!!

First you should double check that you haven't forgotten to connect the interior grounds, especially #8 and #9 in the pic below. And they all have good contact to ground, grounding surface should not be painted or rusty.

Forgot about this post . Starter was the relay and the passenger door was not connected at all. The driver door did not have a working seatbelt that moved. this was from a wire breaking off somewhere in the door, I just rewired the cable the I knew was cut. Works great now! Never figured out the radio but F it, race car.
