can someone point me in the right direction of all the seals required to rebuild my 1992 non turbo throttle body? I tried searching and from the looks of it people are mostly saying the seals are no longer available, but I’m not even sure what seals i would need. I found the shaft seals on STM but not sure if there are more?

You would need :

One of those seals below.

And : (You may be able to reuse the Cap and BISS)

Replacing only the seals is not difficult but pay extra attention when you loosen the two screws that are holding the throttle plate to the shaft. Those screws are sometimes hard to loosen and get stripped easily.

Hi guys,

I recently had to take off my throttle body, and now I would like to install a new gasket for it. The one that came off, may be the factory original one, as it's made from metal.
It looks to be in a good condition, but it's very slightly warped in a couple of places and I'm not sure it's a good idea to reuse it.

The OEM number for my NT car is MD192535, but my local parts store isn't able to source it.
When doing some research, the only one that still seems to be in production is MD146399, which is for the turbocharged 1G cars.

These are the two gaskets:

My question before potentially ordering one is, can I just use MD146399? I feel like it shouldn't matter at all, unless there's a difference in the diameter.

1g turbo throttle body gasket from FelPro. #60879 is 60mm. They are around $6 at your local parts store. ✌️
2g throttle bodies are smaller, at 58mm, IIRC.
1G NT throttle bodies have a "snout" to attach a turbo coupler too instead of having to use a TB elbow.

There's a difference diameter. The N/T throttle body is 60mm(if I recall correctly) and the turbo throttle bodies are smaller. Can't remember how much smaller, but they are smaller.
This is how my non turbo TB looks like:

When looking at a mirror image of the turbo gasket, those darker outlines for the holes look identical.

I measured my TB and it seems to be 60mm, maybe 59mm, can't be exact because I didn't have a caliper at hand. So it's actually the same diameter as the turbo throttle body?
I read different threads and it seems like there isn't a clear answer.

Hi Marty,

These Fel-Pro gaskets don't seem to be available here in Europe, or at least not here in Bulgaria. Online and in parts stores, there aren't any third party manufacturers for gaskets for the throttle bodies that I could find, not even AJUSA, which make a lot of gaskets for the 4G63 engine. The only options I have is to either order an OEM part or something from the US, which isn't worth it just for the gasket.

As mentioned, my TB is 59-60mm, so that turbo gasket with OEM number MD146399 should be fine, as longs as someone here locally can source it.

Ivan, can you buy raw rubberized gasket material (like fel pro 3157)? I have made my own several times with gasket material, a hole punch and a pair of scissors. :thumb:

I've decided to try out the OEM gasket for a turbo TB, as from what you've shown me, the diameter is the same as the non turbo. It's just $7 and I won't have to pay a delivery fee, so it's worth giving it a try. If for some reason it doesn't fit, I'll indeed have to resort to making a custom one with gasket material, this is the reality I'll have to face.

Well I don't think you need to worry. If the gasket seals all the way around on the TB and on the Intake flange, you are fine. You are only worried about vacuum leaks (which a little RTV would solve normally). The turbo guys have to worry about blowing that gasket out.
Best of luck, you will find a way as you seem to have the willpower! :thumb:

1G NT, 1G Turbo and EVO 1-3 have the same diameter 60mm. If you are talking about the 2g turbo throttle body, yes that's smaller, 52mm.
Or some people says the 1g NT and EVO 1-3 is 63mm. But actually they are not 63mm, it's open 63mm at inlet since the 1G NT and EVO 1-3 come with the inlet pipe instead of using a separate elbow. It's 63mm but it's tapered to 60mm at the throttle plate. So they are the same as 1G turbo throttle body.

Intriguing. For years everyone touted the 1G N/T TB as some "upgrade" because it was "bigger". Interesting to know its the same.

The correct NT gasket seal is 535 as im about to do the same rebuild and use that exact part.

At least, no need to worry about the elbow to match the port and requires one less gasket at inlet and it's larger than 2g's.
I personally like the evo 1-3 throttle body since it has less vacuum ports and the stop screw is 2g style which require no IPS to adjust the plate.

I also read similar threads and that's why I was unsure if the turbo TB gasket would fit. I'm glad we managed to clear everything up here.
